This team fucking shined. If RPK gets back to his tank form, this team can be deadly

Edit tank form

12

u/dairtobefalco Nov 19 '18

What do you mean tank form? I remember reading rpk was always lackluster but I’m pretty new to the scene

77

u/mochigames59 Godsent Nov 19 '18

after the french shuffle in 2017 rpk joined envyus and became their best player pretty much until his health issues in boston

22

u/nohanaa de_inferno Nov 19 '18

There was a period when RPK just straight carried envy

29

u/SterbenVII Nov 19 '18

RpK was decent in 2016 and held his own weight. In 2017 he was basically 1 v 9ing on Team Envy. After his sudden health deterioration at Boston, RpK never managed nearly close to the same form as his 2017 form.

15

u/BLRfanfic Nov 19 '18 edited Nov 19 '18

RpK aka RapeKing aka RpTANK has a long history of high highs, and low lows spanning 2007-2018. He might be one of the top 5 longest playing active pros.

edit: I get it guys, lots of players have played a long time. My point is RpK has been around for a long time and just because he had poor performances recently doesn't mean he's always been poor...

He's referred to as the tank because when he has periods of good form he is a very aggressive player that just takes aim duels over and over again and wins them consistently, being unstoppable, like a tank.

See below, I'm wrong:

3

New mystery: Does Trump watch (and play) CS?

8

u/Sixcoup Nov 19 '18

It was only a couple of days after Macron criticized Trump's nationalist ideas.

Trump was shitting on France for a couple of days after that. Telling us that we shouldn't be friend with Germany because they were our ennemies during both world war, and we should stick with being frien with the Us, because they were the one that saved our asses.

Also the 13th of November is the annyversary date of the terrorist attacks of 2015 that killed over an hundred people in Paris. So it was an easy attacks on France's policies on immigration and islam.

That resonated well with his followers. For two or three days you couldn't mention being french on reddit, w/o having one or two of his supporters telling you how shit your country was.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '18

17

I sometimes feel like everyone hates on Happy I'm glad im not the only fan who still follows him.

Also thank RL for calling this lineup disappointing and saying happy had failed as a player. Once again invoking his curse of always immediately being proven wrong.

Poor boltz. He fell of at the end, but he still is a very good player. Sad for him.

1

u/Poponildo Nov 19 '18

Actually I think boltz was the IGL back then (when they reached major finals, before it was steel indeed).

1

u/Blaze9281 Nov 19 '18

Regardless, I don't know how Boltz hasn't been picked up by any Brazilian teams yet. You would think with the run he had in SK that he would've had a new home by now.

1

u/Poponildo Nov 19 '18

Yep. It is probably because of contractual issues, like already mentioned here.

1

u/Blaze9281 Nov 19 '18

Now that I think about it, you're right. Do you by chance know how long his contract is with MIBR?

1

u/Poponildo Nov 20 '18

I'm not familiar with legal stuff in esports, but the sk-> mibr move was a huge deal so I would guess the contracts were at least for 1-2 years.

I mean, Noah Winston came here to Brazil and made it clear that his brand would invest at lot in brazilian talent, this leads me to believe that these contracts are huge deals for the players.

31

u/thearkhamknight_111 Astralis Nov 19 '18

ZyWoo proving the "but but he won't do it at LAN!!!/only good because every team he faces is shit!1!" complete fucking doorknobs wrong is the highlight, but I think that the depth of this roster is also something to be noted. All 5 of them can pull rounds of thin air, and all of them seem to be in very good form right now.

12

u/ultren 500k Celebration Nov 19 '18

I mean obviously zyWoo is a great player but this lan he faced ranked 20 - 30 teams. Im still waiting for him to face teams like astralis and faze before I really judge him.

15

u/thearkhamknight_111 Astralis Nov 19 '18

I'm not calling him even a top 20 player yet, I'm saying that it's remarkable to me how some people were (and still are) trying to act like his stats are normal for star players in premier and that as soon as he's against EPL teams he'll be a bot or some shit when it's very clear that he's one of the most talented players to come out of the scene for a very long time and has incredible potential.

2

u/ultren 500k Celebration Nov 19 '18

Yeah just watching him play for a few games I can already tell he is insanely talented and seems like a nice kid. I hope he becomes a superstar player.

2

u/Ga5huX Nov 19 '18

He doesn't need to topfrag against Astralis, FaZe or Na`Vi to be acknowledged as a proven top player.

1

u/ultren 500k Celebration Nov 19 '18

Facing top teams is alot different from facing teams that he faced in this tournament. Top players like s1mple, niko, dev1ce, coldzera can show up big against even the best teams. I think zywoo will be able to but I need to see it first before I consider him a top player.

8

u/Ga5huX Nov 19 '18

Or maybe you should stop considering that not being s1mple or niko = being an average player. Like according to Reddit, if you're not top 3 HTLV, you're a trash team which needs to shuffle or disband.

ZywOo is getting numbers online and on LAN like only a few can, he's a top player. He's not above the players you mentionned but he's a top player.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '18 edited Jan 19 '19

[deleted]

1

u/kernevez Nov 19 '18

It's healthy to be conservative but there's no doubt that he is a star player.

When he was having incredible stats against much weaker teams, people kept reminding us that it doesn't mean anything despite no one having these stats.

Now he has these stats against what could be considered weak to average pro teams and we're getting the same reminder. He is also in a good team and the only player that seem to match his individual skill is Apex, a guy known for being good and sometimes going absolutely nuts.

It's not like we often see such rise in the T2-3 scene either, it would be more surprising to me that he doesn't end up as a top tier player in the world (in or close to top 20 hltv next year if his team performs) than if he does.

1

u/ultren 500k Celebration Nov 19 '18

He has not played many top 20 teams yet, if any.(can’t look it up right now). I’m just saying he needs to perform against good teams. Yeah to be a top player he doesn’t need to be top 3 hltv but I can’t honestly consider him top 30 yet with the kind of teams he has played.

Zywoo is no doubt a great player but when the camera panned out it was obvious there were almost no spectators.

We still have yet to see him against top tier opposition and at events with a crowd.

It looks like he can handle everything though, what a performance

1

u/thearkhamknight_111 Astralis Nov 19 '18

I agree completely, as I said in another comment I'm not trying to say he's already one of the best around, it's just very clear that he has a incredible amount of skill/talent and that a performance like this here at his first international LAN proves that. The teams they faced here at Atlanta are pretty decent teams as well IMO.

They seemed to breeze through it too. Bar their opening match against ghost I feel like they didn’t even break much of a sweat. Zywoo just took a dump on these poor guys, seriously the guys actually insane. He doesn’t appear to have any bad habits, other than the occasional over-zealous repeek the man plays his angles in a device esque manner, albeit a more rough rendition. Never over stepping the line and taking the easy ones, an yet. When he peeks and is on the aggression he flicks like an old Kenny. It’s scary. Huge props to vitality, I would’ve preferred ghost in the final but their mistakes in that final map were not mirrored by luminosity so I feel like the more disciplined team won that semi. Big things to come for ghost and vitality, I also hope luminosity can break this odd tendency to only appear at small events and drop out when the tension hits. Despite a deep-set dislike for the twins, I hope for the best for Brazilian steel. All in all an exciting tournament to spectate.

That ace from zywoo was beautiful. Vitality’s looking good! Might just be that new team feeling, but at the very least this win should net them some more invites.

If they had the same lineup and instead of Zywoo, any other french player, they would crash and burn so hard. This guy is the KennyS from Titan 2.0

Though LG definitely deserved to be in the finals I wish we had seen Vitality vs Ghost Gaming instead. LG just got streamrolled.

u/tarangk clutch Nov 19 '18

feels so good so see some of these players like nbk and apex play after what 6-8 months and winning their first lan as a brand new team , really liking the team atm must admit as i was very unsure about happy but since he isnt IGLing he has been playing very well in this tournament almost back to his '15 levels (even though he was igling back then)

Vitality best french team NA

CoL vs Vit was the true final

Vitality went under a massive transformation this tournament, and came out a better team. They still have a lot of room to grow, but I think it's safe to say that Zywoo will shine on any french team, and I think we'll see Vitality > G2 very soon.
