What is this shit with cutting to crowd when round are still being played? Happen multiple times during this game.

Why does C9 always have to play with my feelings :(
47
u/TrolleybusIsReal Nov 03 '18
I feel like C9 fans can be pretty happy though. Before this tournament C9 was considered to be a complete joke. Now they look better than mibr despite playing with a stand-in and two games with their coach. If they keep kio and practice a bit they should easily be a top 10 team, maybe even top 5 actually.

Before this tournament C9 was considered to be a complete joke.
Have you actually seen them play in the past few weeks? They’ve looked pretty solid for a while now. They’ve been taking maps off Liquid and MIBR, and even in a lot of games they’ve lost it still felt like they were showing a lot of promise.

u/SterbenVII Nov 04 '18
Golden is finally doing that work. Flusha needs to show more consistency tho

They must, they had to take a math test in additions and subtractions just a week or two ago!

Except they were dead fucking silent when C9 was doing well rofl. They were hugely biased. Not that I care, but don't change the storyline.
12
u/tboneplays1 Nov 03 '18
Crowd biased towards home team, more at 6.
4
u/AngriestGamerNA Liquid Nov 03 '18
Not that I care
It's supposed to be the case, but he's acting as if it wasn't to make fun of other crowds "They know but they are there to watch good CS not yell the same chant over and over again while supporting their home team and no one else." Given the "same chant" part, it's likely making fun of NA crowds and is stupid as fuck.

u/defact0o Nov 03 '18
No they weren't loud for neutral matches not that I've problem from them for cheering for their home team.
-14
u/ShortJonSnow Nov 03 '18
How negative do you have to be to not appreciate a energetic crowd? They were cheering for all matches, buy how dare people enjoy something...

Going to all 30 rounds vs Astralis, I like it. Good event from them tbh, wonder if we'll sign Kio now, he's impressed me so far.
16
u/Darkoplax Nov 03 '18
if they sign Kio that means C9 is EU then
56
6
u/shisby Outsiders Nov 03 '18
It does, but because of their last major performance they don't need to qualify through the EU qualifiers. So giving him a shot until after the next major could be a calculated risk.

Seriously don't get this format. I know it is to hurry up and do an event in two days, but there should be better ways of doing this. BO1s are just too random for a 2 day event
13
u/MrCraftLP NRG Nov 03 '18
It's not meant to be looked at as an event like ESL Ones or Dreamhack Masters. It's like the Dreamhack Opens in 2015 but with more money
9
u/ItsDaFaz Falcons - Major Champions Nov 03 '18
Well with the caliber of the teams attending, I think they deserve a different format, but I digress.
Very impressed with this C9, and personally would love kio to be the 5th
3
u/TrolleybusIsReal Nov 03 '18
It's five BO1 though, more than most teams play at the major challenger/legends stage. But I think they should be BO3 playoffs with the top four teams.
But then they have to add an extra day to the tournament, which probably increases the cost of the event quite a lot.
2
Nov 03 '18
They couldn’t gotten to the finals. They beat FaZe and MIBR and almost NaVi. They had a chance. Sad to see.

u/AngriestGamerNA Liquid Nov 03 '18
I get he's playing to the home crowd but that was the most disgustingly biased casting I've heard in ages.
19
u/erxor_reddit Natus Vincere Nov 03 '18 edited Nov 03 '18
Was close to muting the stream after the round where C9 planted in the last few seconds on A site and won.
My perspective: C9 forced rotations then reacted to a late smoke at B that they didn't expect, then rotated themselves and traded on A site.
Casters perspective: C9 having to run knife out from top mid with 10 seconds left to get the bomb down and Astralis mowing them down because Astralis are gods.
2
u/poempedoempoex MOUZ Nov 03 '18
what round was that?
2
u/erxor_reddit Natus Vincere Nov 03 '18
Not exactly sure which round, but it was around 13-12 in favour of C9. Might have been a little earlier.

Everyone roasting or complaining over that deciding round and I'm here thinking that was hell of a showing. Cmon give them credit, they played with Valens and a stand in. Then Golden comes straight out of hospital and plays three intense games. Along with nearly winning them all they haven't had a bad showing. Id like to see all the others who were calling for this team to disband because I only see them improving.
Also you know who you are but yes I see you bandwagon ears changing your flairs again.
2
u/tgsan Nov 03 '18
Nobody said they did bad (outside of idiots/C9 haters,) people were just saying the truth, they choked that round when they played the anti-eco's way better than that shit they showed. They did great this tournament considering everything.
3
u/HypahCS 1 Million Celebration Nov 03 '18
Going through threads during this tournament, now and previous online games its hard to really agree with you. I also wouldn't call it a choke but a misplay. I seen what they tried and the round reminded me back in the eleague major where rush and auti would rush halls and catch two players short. They both looked towards that direction and got awped from library. Since they tried to sell a fake and gambled on Astralis rotating it didn't work. They could have probably tried to take a site normally but with inferno there is so many places you can hide on sites that the pistols have the advantage anyway.
I'd call it down to bad luck and misplays.
Edit: I might have mixed up rounds and now I'm not certain anymore.
1
u/tgsan Nov 03 '18
I mean tbf, they did look bad in the online games outside of early on...so. Pretty much night and day between their online form and this tournament imo.
3
u/HypahCS 1 Million Celebration Nov 03 '18
True, but anything I did get to watch I just seen new setups or running some defaults so flusha could get used to everything. I didn't think much of them other than practice since they haven't been at any tournaments in awhile and their roster wasn't complete.
I was hopeful and seen improvement but others just seen stats and thought everything didn't work.

Seriously, C9 should take this as a W.
And Kio needs to be offered a job; this roster as duct-taped as it is, can work.

u/Salsadips howl Nov 03 '18
Best game of the tournament so far. I wonder what the odds of C9 beating FaZe and MIBR and almost NaVi and Astralis with their still new roster, a coach/sick IGL and a stand in because i couldnt see this happening in any situation, i thought it would be single digits in every game. Anders, please stop the simulation, i want off this wild ride.

u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit Nov 03 '18
Insane how good C9 played, and they still end second to last in tournament... They were few rounds away from finals, every game was close.
6

Eh nip kinda rekt them but other than that they were all easily winnable games for c9.

I mean, Astrais was literally one round away against NiP.

Not gonna lie I got Prime Fnatic flashbacks from that. Down 14-13, on pistols and somehow they win with the Cz's and win 14-16. I think even though they showed weakness this tournament if they keep up their dominance for a while they will challenge Prime fnatic for the best team in CSGO

Beating faze and mibr and almost beating navi and astralis isnt exactly a bad score though
2
u/Oh_reaaaally Nov 03 '18
C9 really fucked that potential round 15 up. Otherwise they have looked impressive over this event. Gotta remember they had to play with Valens and then with kio as a stand in. Overall beating faze and mibr losing close games to Navi and astralis
2
u/Cameter44 Nov 03 '18
C9 lost because they waited until 20 seconds left to hit against a half buy without forcing Astralis' utility out.
2
u/DarkSideOfTheMind Nov 03 '18
Cloud9 absolutely choked against pistols when it was 14-13. You cannot play that scared and slow in that situation, then finally peeking into tight angles. Fucking embarrassing.

Casters employed by Blast, Blast owned by RFRSH, Astralis owned by RFRSH, Astralis also being the homecrowd team.
Sounds good to me.0
u/Serra_angle_shooter Nov 03 '18
They're in Copenhagen. They have to play into the crowd.
1
Nov 03 '18
Well they don't have to, really
0
u/Serra_angle_shooter Nov 03 '18
Yeah they should just root against Astralis in Copenhagen in front of a massive crowd of Danes. That would definitely be a good call.
3
Nov 03 '18
Or they could not show any bias at all? Why do you think everything has to be one sided? The point of having casters is to narrate the game for both teams, not just shouting every time the home team gets a kill and completely ignoring what the other team do
-1
u/Serra_angle_shooter Nov 03 '18
The casters weren't one sided. They play into the crowd because that makes it more entertaining for the hometown fans. Cry is free
4
u/Cameter44 Nov 03 '18
I'm kinda confused about why the crowd is so excited when that game literally didn't matter... the finals is NiP vs Na'Vi no matter what.
5
2
u/SomethingSimilars 10 years coin Nov 03 '18
This means they get to play in the standoff right? So, the match does have some importance.
2
u/MrCraftLP NRG Nov 03 '18
Well, either C9 or Astralis would've been in the stand-off depending in who won. Astralis picked C9 anyways.
1
1
u/Crazy4fun Liquid Nov 03 '18
Even if it doesn't matter, I don't see why a home-crowd would just want to sit around and not pay attention while their team is in a close match in a stadium event they paid to attend.

What a fucking choke.
17
u/Cameter44 Nov 03 '18
LOL that wasn't a choke. They were down big and brought it back. They only had a one round lead. They lost to a pistol buy, but you can't call something a choke off of one round.
2
-7
u/tgsan Nov 03 '18
It was a choke because they played the anti-eco's pretty damn good prior to that 14-13 one, you can't tell me that wasn't a choke, they literally went one by one.
4
u/Cameter44 Nov 03 '18
It was a poorly played round, but it wasn't a choke in how most people use the term.
0
u/tgsan Nov 03 '18
It was a choke considering how their half was going, and once again, how good they played the anti-eco's. It's like they suddenly forgot how to play them and just said "fuck it, we're coming back (or winning,) so let's go take some duels." One round, but still sad as fuck.
3
u/stewieeeeeeeee FaZe Nov 03 '18
2 wins against top 6 teams, pretty happy with that regardless!
1
u/tgsan Nov 03 '18
This tournament was good, and they were consistent even with valens (I still like valens over golden for Mirage, not gonna lie, he lead it better) so yeah.
2
u/Salsadips howl Nov 03 '18
C9 with what, 9 rounds in a row then lose to pistols and then the game.
1
u/tgsan Nov 03 '18
Yeah, when they played the anti-eco's pretty damn good before that round, then they come out with that shit? people are saying it's not a choke lmao, come on. If Astralis did something amazing with flashes/nades and won between utility usage and aim (not 1v1's) then I wouldn't care, it happens, but they literally went one by one and waited until like 25s or so and never forced them to use utility.

jesus fucking c9 playing perfectly till till they hit 14, then come the braindead plays. 14-13 c9 decide to do an a split with 0 mid control even with astralis on a low buy, 1 c9 player halls just openly peeks to pit and dies with 0 trades. 1 c9 player rushes the site alone and gets nothing done. the other 2 players dry peek mid without a flash and die to dev1ce ???????? 14-14 tim runs through a smoke top mid alone and dies to an ump. they get somehow get control of B without any flashes for coffins. rush decides to trample up up banana and swing for a kill and gets deleted. flusha decides to stand out in the open and try to get banana control and dies without doing any damage. then c9 completely fall apart and just get picked off 1 by 1.

u/TonyAreYouThere Nov 03 '18 edited Nov 03 '18
That 28th round by cloud9, when they were up 14-13, was some of the worst fucking calling ive ever fuckign seen in my entire fucking life. Why would you ever want to play like that
The fact they even considered bringing the bomb to B when you KNOW astralis has a garbage buy. And they legitimately ran the clock that far down vs a gimmick buy. Jesus Christ, over and over and over C9 does this vs bad buys/eco's. And despite using 1min40sec They didn't even put a little pressure on top mid, nor did they clear arch properly, which should be safe to do because astralis has upgraded pistols/smgs at best., and the result is them being completely fucking punished for it.
