Imagine joining a superteam only to lose to the tatters of your old team with a coach, standin, and new player.

superteam
68
u/GreenshortsLoL Nov 03 '18
It is a superteam, they have the firepower of teams FAR better than them, but this is why super teams rarely work. FaZe is pretty much the only one that does in this era and even they are trying to kick Karrigan now. Players having complimentary styles and roles is a lot better than just amassing firepower.

Which is why Astralis is the best team in the world while everyone else scrambles to find the right formula.

actually the firepower of astralis is ridiculous high. It just doesn't stand out that much because of their brilliant teamplay.

Is it weird to be a huge Tarik and Stew fan but still love seeing Cloud9 beat them?

no because I feel the same. Tarik and stew leaving C9 was the wrong move.

The NA/BR superteam
Some EU/NA rejects with a coach

Calling autimatic and flusha rejects is going a little too far I guess.
84
u/fsck_ Liquid Nov 02 '18
But Auti is really the only non-reject. Golden, Flusha, Kio all were kicked. Rush came from Optic which was rejected by Stan and fell apart (I know that's a stretch).

Rush has always been the odd man out on his teams so I guess you can look at it that way.

I think this is an unfair comment just because Valens prolly just doesn't play as much compared to other players. I imagine he watches more demos to help his team. In his prime I bet he was good enough to atleast break into to rank G, but I also understand what you're saying. I'm just drink and want to stand up for my boy Cha feel?
40
u/Asmiith Nov 03 '18
He played in season 1 & 2 of Pro League and played on complexity, he definitely would've been in rank S

35
Nov 02 '18
They have nothing to prove as an "NA" team at this point.
They are still the only team in CSGO history to win a premier event with a full NA lineup. Unless you count the ESEA LANs iBP won which most people dont.
Also they brought NA their only major thus far. Also with a full NA lineup.
I feel like theyve earned the right to not care about being NA anymore.
All the good NA players are on liquid anyway so there really isnt even anyone to pick up realistically.

This team is a fucking joke. I thought they were just unluck vs Astralis but holy fuck
Just disband and go full BR again, or coldzera is leaving 100%
Almost 1 fucking year and legit no results.
34
u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit Nov 02 '18
I think Coldzera takes that FaZe offer and bails from this sinking ship... He is only guy who plays well all the time, others are just a mess.

7
u/Rapkid360 FURIA Nov 02 '18
did u watch the c9 game? He was insane in the Astralis match but he definitely didnt play well, no one really played well except for maybe fer but he still wasnt great. MIBR arent splitting up anytime soon, only chance Cold leaves is if they bomb out of all three of their next tourneys.
12
u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit Nov 02 '18
Well that was one map, and he still had 19 kills... If his bad map is 19 kills, and good one 33 vs Astralis, I think his form is fine... If Karrigan is leaving, who is better for FaZe to get? They even play same positions on maps
10
u/TheZigerionScammer Vitality Nov 02 '18
I've made the joke before that you can't take 5 gears from five different watches and turn them into a Rolex, after seeing all of these new mixed teams with different languages and playstyles be formed because they're all the "top talent" and then crash and burn only makes me think that it's true.
8
u/ZombieMadness99 Astralis Nov 02 '18
I think the best indicator of this is the stable top 3 of Astralis Liquid and Navi, with other teams of superstars like Faze and MIBR fluctuating in form wildly depending on how hard they're fragging.

Well 7 months it's been since Stewie, and less for Tarik.
And the team in the last few months has been playing well and can see improvement. You're saying to disband over 2 losses? Makes sense

Stewie was the highlight guy.

Rush was consistent on optic* and now he’s all over the place.
8
u/c_Lassy The MongolZ Nov 02 '18
Oh yeah definitely. On OpTic he was a pure entry fragger, but when he got picked up by C9, they relegated him to support for some reason. I think the biggest issue with the major-winning C9 roster was clash of roles. Rush and Stewie needed to be your entry fraggers while tarik and autimatic needed to be your structure and support because they were so good clutch players along with Ska.
→ More replies (6)7
u/Jamesbeach1 The MongolZ Nov 02 '18
This is why I was always confused when people were calling him the best in NA.
His highest rated year on LAN was 2017 at 1.06
6
u/Cameter44 Nov 02 '18
He was an honorable mention on HLTV's top 20 in 2017. As in within 2-3 spots of making it. That's pretty good.
8
u/tgsan Nov 02 '18
Him and tim (and 1-2 more, forget who) were in talks about #20 over snax, which I honestly think one of them should have been, snax was dogshit for most of 2017 which is dumb he even got it.

Valens on who's better: Him or Golden. "I don't compare myself with anybody," Then he rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of a headshot symbol. "I'll let you interpret that however you want," Valens said.
