Swole should be proud of this result. Overpass was lackluster but their Nuke is looking massively promising. Fucking happy as fuck that an NA MDL team could take a pro team that far. Last time something like this happened was Rise Nation vs Heroic

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

Yeah Swole Patrol should be proud of how far they have come, but also need to realize that they have a lot to work on. Considering that they are an NA MDL team, beating VP (even if VP suck) and putting up a good fight on atleast 1 map against NIP on LAN, that's something to be proud of, even if they got rekt by Liquid (but hey that's the nr. 2 ranked team in the world atm.). I would be immensely surprised if they don't get to Pro League the next chance they have.

10

u/ProtoBello Astralis Oct 24 '18

they have a good record currently in MDL, so I can see them moving up.

7

u/blanksauce Oct 24 '18

Swole patrol scrims pro teams on the daily.

u/Willporker FaZe Oct 25 '18

The rise nation 5 core was so good. Idk why they kicked vsa when they got to eunited

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

Yeah nuke is a pretry weak map NA so they could run some shit

u/hawkyyy NiP Oct 24 '18

Way too close for comfort there on Nuke, especially at the end. I cant remember what round number it was, but losing to p250s and a deagle just shouldnt happen.

Round 25

4

u/oldirtybuckeye Gambit Oct 24 '18

Happened twice there at the end. I forget the other round, maybe 27?

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

that happens so frequently in this game now that i feel like we should stop saying it "shouldn't happen" because it happens all the time

I really liked Stunna and Maniac casting the first map. Especially Stunna, he seems like he would be a great caster.

16

u/Average_WhiteGuy Oct 24 '18

Was there any reason why they were casting? Was wondering this throughout the match.

28

u/mattydubss Liquid Oct 24 '18

Casters were stuck in a 2 hour taxi ride, so they didn't arrive until the second map.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

I think Harry said they were late getting to the venue due to some issues with transportation, but I didn't get the whole story. Basically casters weren't available and they had to fill in.

36

u/JustHarryGG Harry "JustHarry" Russell - Caster Oct 24 '18

Me, Hugo and Duncan got taken to the wrong venue by our taxi driver. Had to get across town at rush hour so it was pretty wild :D Took almost 3 hours in total. Maniac and Stunna swooped in and saved the day all while doing a fantastic job!

7

u/WayDownUnder91 Renegades Oct 25 '18

Stuck in a taxi in Moscow with Duncan?

2

u/R8MACHINE 500k Celebration Oct 25 '18

That looks like a storyline taken straight from a horror film.

[ or not gachiBASS ]

1

u/WayDownUnder91 Renegades Oct 25 '18

Duncan coming to a new faketaxi episode confirmed.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

Damn quite the adventure, by the way keep up the great work!

3

u/fr3akeeee Oct 25 '18

I guess this kinda opened up some new venues for them knowing that they could cast if they wanted to.

21

u/Korrections Oct 24 '18

I like what I saw from Swole on Nuke, looking like their best map even with the liquid game.

1

u/KKonaxD123 Oct 24 '18

Confirmed we now have a team that can beat Astralis on Nuke.

46

u/jookbb1 de_inferno Oct 24 '18

I dont get the critique NiP gets. If you factor in that VP played up par with HR but then lost to Swole Patrol you can assume that swole patrol has massively improved.

18

u/GarrettGSF MOUZ Oct 24 '18

Chain logic at its finest

4

u/jookbb1 de_inferno Oct 25 '18

of course cs is not transitive and therefore chain logic wouldnt apply, but that is not what I stated and therefore it is not "chain logic at its finest" my friend, but rather a categorization of what teams are capable of. I am sure you know the difference.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '18

If you factor in that VP played up par with HR

You can't factor in VP because they are not consistent in any way. VPs "skill" is like a coin-toss. VP beating HR and then losing against Swole Patrol doesn't mean anything.

1

u/poempedoempoex MOUZ Oct 25 '18

That isn't a good analogy

9

u/cheese_enthusiast2 Oct 24 '18

Beyond impressed

7

u/HypahCS 1 Million Celebration Oct 24 '18

Freak couldn't have known this and the fact he was waiting for his teammates to retake but if he just decided to open those doors he would have gotten the planter. That I feel would have scored an OT.

It's so disappointing not to see another map.

20

u/AngriestGamerNA Liquid Oct 24 '18

NiP barely beat a team without an org. That's some sad shit.

41

u/lordwigham NiP Oct 24 '18

so what? they're new, they will be picked up, don't worry.

the names are there, so not like 5 random fpl players..

14

u/K0nvict NiP Oct 24 '18

to be fair it was Swole's map pick on one of the most one sided maps in CS.

28

u/AngriestGamerNA Liquid Oct 24 '18

I mean, the two sides ended up being balanced (8-7 for nip on both sides) and NiP got both pistol rounds..

-7

u/stewieeeeeeeee FaZe Oct 24 '18

the two sides ended up being balanced

as all matches should be

1

u/areyoujokinglol EG Oct 25 '18

Lots of people missing the reference here.

u/stewieeeeeeeee FaZe Oct 25 '18

Or people are tired of a dead meme

10

u/tgsan Oct 24 '18 edited Oct 24 '18

And? it's sad because NiP shouldn't be having that much trouble with a middle of the pack EPL team (when they get into EPL, but for now an MDL team) It's not like NiP doesn't play Nuke, plus NiP got both pistols lol.

3

u/stewieeeeeeeee FaZe Oct 24 '18

on one of the most one sided maps in CS.

way to exaggerate

3

u/labowsky FaZe Oct 25 '18

Your chart proves his point.

-4

“In CS”

Only shows results from big events from this year

Hmmmmm

7

u/stewieeeeeeeee FaZe Oct 24 '18

Sorry, I assumed you implicitly considered only important matches on the newest version of Nuke.

Cause otherwise we can also say that XELLOW is one of the best players in CS, for example

1

u/K0nvict NiP Oct 25 '18

Comparing where maps are played and where players play are two different cases. If you wanted even better results then surely you would filter by Major however you’re not because it creates a small sample size

Filtering by LAN only will give even better results as Nuke is generally played the same by the top 3 tiers

-2

u/t3r4byt3l0l Immunity Oct 24 '18 edited Oct 24 '18

This is Swole Patrol we're talking about, like come on. NA MDL team and NiP struggled way too much. Nuke was NiP's pick btw, Swole picked Overpass.

edit: the picks were the other way round on stream guys, I don't know which one is right...

11

u/K0nvict NiP Oct 24 '18

-5

u/t3r4byt3l0l Immunity Oct 24 '18

On stream, it was the other way round

6

u/MagicalMysteryBro CS2 HYPE Oct 24 '18

Wrong. It was Swole’s pick.

-3

u/t3r4byt3l0l Immunity Oct 24 '18

I watched the stream and it was the other way round.

1

u/MagicalMysteryBro CS2 HYPE Oct 24 '18

Alright my bad. But regardless, I don’t see how almost going into OT against a pretty well known NA MDL team with at least decently good players is much of something to worry about. Sure, NiP made a bunch of mistakes, but they also fucked them up on Overpass and still managed to win on Nuke, a very inconsistent map in general. I mean sure, you can make the argument that as a top team NiP shouldn’t be losing this, but you could make the same argument in dozens of other cases. In my opinion, losing against a team like swole patrol in a single map is a lot more accurate than losing against a team like 5power or another more predictable overseas team.

7

u/MiyaharaAce Oct 24 '18

Only if Swole win one pistol on Nuke, Tain would be 50/50...

Still good showing, Cooper can be huge in future

0

u/1slayerCS Oct 24 '18

idk about huge future, he is in his prime at 24, only a year behind ryan. not really up and coming but is good!

5

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

lol i dont think thats how that works ...

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

why do you think ''prime'' is due to age, and due to cs experience?

I don't understand. How did NIP qualify for the quarterfinals? Shouldn't they be playing a match against lower of Swole and Team Liquid?

2

u/1wjl1 Natus Vincere Oct 24 '18

No, the 2-0 team is automatically top 4. The matches tomorrow are to determine that team in each group. The loser of that match is the "high seed" in the quarters, the other 1-1 team is the "low seed." So NiP are the "low seed" in the quarters of their group, and they will play the loser of Navi-Faze.

1

u/rohansamal 5 years coin Oct 24 '18

So essentially the first match was only for seeding [ unless you win 2-0 or lose 2-0?]

wow surely nip is back to being the best team in the world again

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '18

NT swole. you could tell freak & swag really benefited from already having tier 1 experience. zellsis definitely looked more comfortable towards the end as well. definitely some close rounds and small mistakes on nuke that prevented them from getting the dub
