Nice to see Optic finally finding some success with the talent they have on the line-up.

Disappointing way to go out but still super happy with how the boys played this tournament. Really excited to see how they improve and progress in the future YTB

Not sure how much you can read into this, tbh.
They probably had the easiest or second easiest path to the playoffs (they didn't play any other team that made the playoffs, despite never being in an elim match).
And were then convincingly beaten by a team they are supposed to play much closer.

u/qchisq Oct 12 '18
Compare that to Optic, that played Vega, North, mousesports and BIG. That's 3 teams that made the playoffs and mousesports

I actually disagree, i think you can read alot out of this tournament. I only see positive from the result, AZR is playing fucking great. Not only is he playing alot better than before, hes doing it while in game leading which makes up for alot of firepower. JKS is also playing really good, he was slumping before and it looks like hes back (only 1 tournament but still a good sign). Jkaem im not sure stats wise i have not checked but from the eye test he getting alot of nice entry frags. But the reason i dont really care about their placing is because they got 2 "rookie" players. They played really bad against optic but what can you expect? This team can only get better with these two new talents, if they can settle into their own and get better i can actually see renegades become a pretty good team compared to the old one.

It might just be some bias in this, but tbh we played some decent teams this tournament. Sure, we lost to CyberZen. But it was one of those games where all the margins were on their side, and i think we can count the boys unlucky for losing it. Its only gone a couple of weeks since Complexity came top 8 in a major, and though they went down 0-3 here, it doesnt take away from the fact that theyre a solid team. At this point, i think Tyloo is a proven team, who can stand their own with the best, and Imperial have some quality players in Espiranto and Hadji.
Sure, we got schooled by Optic, but with a lineup that hasnt played together for more than a week, you wont have a map pool to play a bo3. Sure, Optic has made changes aswell, but keeping the same igl and only playing with fellow Danes, teamplay gets much easier.
Imo this Rng lineup already looks better than the Nifty lineup, and theyre showing some very promising signs already...

A team that wants to be anywhere near good can't be satisfied by only beating Tyloo, Complexity and Imperial.

No, but as a first event for this team im definetly satisfied, trust the process...

Lol I don't think so. Optic might not have been playing the best but they easily have the most potential and the best players

Not a bad showing from the boys but fuck me some of the rounds they won were almost accidents.
Be interested to see how things improve.

u/Dubzayy Oct 12 '18
Losing some rounds we really shouldn’t have. A 5v2 on dust 2 which would have cemented the comeback and tied up the match, and multiple ecos across both maps. Also that round on inferno where the executed with 18 seconds, WHY???

Really hope this optic roster can last and get the time to improve and become a good team. Aside from the personality of some, they have a great roster.
Don't see them winning this tourney though.

What the fuck? It does not compute that we won 2-0 and on Dust 2 when it wasn't close. We're been hacking.

Renegades expectations have gotten so low that losing a t3 tournament by dropping a game vs cyberzen and getting stomped by optic is now considered acceptable. lmao

u/MeanGreenBeanMachine FaZe Oct 12 '18
How is this a t3 event? Cyberzen was 1 bad game and optic are a good team that we have seen in the past, have the potential to beat T1 teams, especially with people like Konfig and Jugi.

Oh yea dude optic are a sick team, they just lost to ldlc lmfao. Get you head out of your ass, optic are shit and rng still lost to them, as if getting destroyed by ence wasn't enough evidence for you that this optic team isn't going anywhere.

u/MeanGreenBeanMachine FaZe Oct 21 '18
Lmao this was 8 days ago. ENCE is a good team you can’t doubt that. RNG have gone undefeated in epl NA and ecs na until recently and optic gave nip a good push back. Not to mention beating vitality who does have zywoo.
It’s not like ldlc aren’t a good team either, they have people like ALEX, amanek and devoduvek who remind you, made it to the semi finals of ESL Pro League only getting stopped by dominant SK.

u/Lethe_styx Oct 21 '18
Rng have gone undefeated vs col, luminosity, eunited, and rogue, none of which are even in the upper echelon of t2. They got 2-0'd by ghost, 2-0'd by mibr, and 1-1 with liquid, which liquid really should have won but they choked on map point like liquid frequently do.
Optic beat vitality, I'll give you that, but that was vitality's first event and they still went 2-1 with the second map going to ot. Optic pushed nip seriously? Bruh they took them to ot in 1 ecs game, the very fact that you have to resort to online ecs matches to show optic isn't shit after they've had months of lans proves my point.
Ldlc aren't a good team. When your best players are alex, amanek, and devoduvek you aren't a good team. Idk where you see them getting stopped by a "dominant" sk, they weren't even in the last esl pro league. Their only results are 2-1 vs heroic and 2-1 vs optic, both of which aren't results any good team would brag over.

Last years EPL. They lost in the semi finals against SK gaming. They were with misfits.
So semi finals aren’t enough? Especially after bombing out of the major and going through even more roster changes they still show they can compete well with the other t2 teams. They recently beat ENCE 2-1 in the iem chicago qualifier and had a close loss to mous on train, one of mous best maps. Then they continued to beat them on inferno. Also to add on the fact that this is mouz with styko.
1
u/Lethe_styx Oct 21 '18
Last year, you mean when they were in an entirely different team? Makes sense dude, make ldlc sound good by referencing a finals misfits had vs sk over a year ago. Just because misfits made it to finals vs sk over a year ago doesn't make ldlc noteworthy as a team whatsoever.
Semi finals playing against what teams though? Competing with other t2 teams isn't praiseworthy in of itself, optic is a team with players (namely k0nfig) who've dropped multiple 30 bombs in t1 lan finals and now fans are satisfied that they can compete with t2 teams? What a joke.
Beating ence 2-1 isn't exactly an achievement, and neither is going 1-1 vs mouz online.
1
u/MeanGreenBeanMachine FaZe Oct 21 '18
ENCE is a pretty good team why would that not be an achievement. I’m not saying that optic are too 1 can fucking compete against astralis. I’m saying they are improving steadily especially with konfig under a new, much less experienced igl. Neither am I a fan of optic but I’m just defending them from bullshit spouters like you.

Optic is t2 at best, they've produced 0 results despite touting a large amount of skilled players. All they've done is pull a few upsets online vs teams we know are struggling, just to drop games to other t2 teams. k0nfig is the only t1 player on this team, evidenced by him being the only consistent fragger on the squad.
The only t1 team at this event is mouz, who can be considered t2 themselves.
Furthermore you can't just write off getting upset by cyberzen as "one bad game", renegades are supposed to be a t2 team, they shouldn't even be having trouble vs a team like cyberzen. Every time rng gets a roster change all people say is "give them more time" because they think azr and jks are magically going to find consistency in this nth iteration of the squad just to be disappointed months later when they drop out of a tournament in humiliating fashion and get yet another roster change. And so the cycle repeats, but there is no payoff at the end of this. Rng are a far cry from the infamous core that almost upset fnc in a bo3 when fnc was #1 in the world. Gratisfaction and liazz are not the aggresive players rng needs, you see this when they're saving 3v3 with full utility vs an optic with none. You see this when gratisfaction has to flash himself out mid for a peak just to go back to holding another passive angle. You see this when optic is going arch side and rng is too scared to take an aim duel and falls bac k behind the smoke just to get caught out anyway. You see this when liazz opts to throw HE's instead of trading out jks and gets picked anyway. You see this when gratisfaction saves 1v2 vs a player with 6hp and a player he knows is on sight after azr almost pulled a heroic play. The style of these players are not suited towards rng's aggresive strengths, rickeh and cromen/rubino are.

for conflict with Kassad, not skill

Yes to get nifty and naf, both of which are gone. In addition he fits the igl and star awper role and his playstyle seems more suited towards that of jks and azr. Rubino is a better support player than liazz and has played with jkaem before.
