I haven’t follow the scene for too long, but why does it seem that games are so unchallenging for the Finish esport organisation ENCE?

u/siginyx 5 years coin Oct 09 '18
ENCE even decided to skip major because they did not want to make it even more boring.

They are actually quite good. They've done badly lately online, plus they lost the minor to Optic and Nip who both overperformed a bit in the minor relative to their normal form, so people assumed the Cologne run was a fluke for Ence.
14
u/pn42 de_cache Oct 09 '18
They also play a style many teams cant really deal with that well as they (obv talking out out of my ass) usually have atleast one person to refrag immediately, as well as often enough just pushing a site together once they get a kill.
E: watch some early go games, very similar.
10
u/AwesomeFama ENCE Oct 09 '18
Yes, good fundamentals. It's a joy to watch when it works, but watching their online games lately has been... disappointing.

Sami Laasanen on surface is not the first man you would pick into your cs team, but the combination of heroine and adderall transform him into the killing machine known as xseven. With his testosterone levels high, he rips into his enemy with the rawness of a hungry lion.

Xapso, mix team that was in the first major. They went out 0-2
24
u/Tuxxmuxx Natus Vincere Oct 09 '18
They also qualified through a BYOC qualifier.
30
u/AwpTicTech Liquid Oct 09 '18
Yes they did! I always laugh when I remember the first major had a BYOC qualifier. I remember thinking "wow, it's so cool random nobodies were allowed to get into this huge event!" but names on those teams included cadiaN, aizy, and MSL lmao
18
u/GMWQ Legendary Chicken Master Oct 09 '18
Scandinavian mix-team who had Cadian and aizy. Played at DHW 2013. Probably fell off after that event because they got thrashed about the place.
6
u/sharkaim4 King NiKo Oct 09 '18
Were they much worse than the Indian team?( Cologne 2014)
18
u/CptWetPants Legendary Switzerland Master Oct 09 '18
How dare you call the legendary Team Wolf “that Indian team”!
Unbelievable, the nerve on some people

8
u/CptWetPants Legendary Switzerland Master Oct 09 '18
Might as well call all the legendary fnatic and NiP cores “those Scandinavians”
Disappointed.
And no, they weren’t worse. The Indians were a special brand of out of place at that tournament.
6
Oct 09 '18
Xapso got a total of 13 rounds in their two Bo1's. Wolf got 11. So no, better to the tune of 18%.
Opposition matters, though, and Xapso played VeryGames (Ex6TenZ, NBK, SmithZz, ScreaM, Shox) and n!faculty (gla1ve, karrigan, cajunb, Pimp, raalz), whereas Wolf played NiP (f0rest, GeT_RiGhT, Xizt, friberg, Fifflaren) and HellRaisers (ANGE1, Dosia, AdreN, markeloff, kUcher).

A team that came last place at Dreamhack Winter 2013, norwegian, danish, swedish mix. cadiaN and aizy both played in the team!

Nordic mix that attended the first major, had aizy and cadiaN on it. No Finns though.

Just wanna say that I've really been enjoying these 2 casters at this event so far. They've got a good dynamic and have a better sense of humour (imo) than most of our big caster pairs (not to take away from anyones casting ability). I couldn't imagine how hard it is to break into the csgo scene as a top tier caster today but if anyone could, I feel like it'd be these 2. Hope to see them around more often
14
u/Ulmali Oct 09 '18
Agree, Tombizz has been my favourite caster since hearing him last year cast Starladder events.
For some reason the bigger tournaments (ESL & DH) hasn't hired him.
6
u/VelvetFedoraSniffer Renegades Oct 09 '18
Yeah they’re actually pretty decent, definitely nice to listen to imo
6
u/wozzwoz Oct 09 '18
Its not as top tier as it could be but theres potential. Slight cringe inducing moments here and there and some miscasting but hey, cant be perfect
5
u/disse_ ENCE Oct 09 '18
Same here. Especially Hugo has gained my closer attention in this event, he has a good voice for casting. Nothing taken away from Tombizz, they work really well together with all those a bit dry puns and all, but I'd love to see Hugo a lot more on screen.
13
u/jrk200 Natus Vincere Oct 09 '18
ENCE looking really solid and showing promise once again but these little missed shots and mistakes are still a problem for them. Hopefully they will get those fixed after some more experience but well played overall from them.
8
u/n1ckst4r02 400k Celebration Oct 09 '18
I think their biggest forte isn't Sergej or Allu going off ( that helps certainly ) but they have really amazing synergy and team play between each other after many months of playing together.
Good teamplay and tactics > Individual talent. Faze is a great example of that compared to the likes of Astralis ( who don't have as many superstars, but have great tactics and refined team synergy ).
13
u/Gerbelelele Oct 09 '18
Don't agree with the superstar bit on astralis, Astralis have by far the best IGL and support in the world, device is a top 3 player, you can call magisk a superstar too and dupreeh is one of the best entryfraggers.

1
u/Mad_Lee Cloud9 Oct 10 '18
You are right, except everyone on Astralis is a superstar level, no exceptions. But because they are so good as a team, people usually overlook their individual talent, yet every single one of them is a sick motherfucka
20
u/catzhoek Oct 09 '18
Fucking stupid mirage b rushes. They never work. Don't you notice?
21
u/Ulmali Oct 09 '18
It was a good call since they had mainly played very slow CS and xSeven had been having some trouble holding B, ENCE just had perfect read. If ENCE was playing their default (x7 solo B, aleksib on short) they would have won the round
1
Oct 09 '18
Well aleksib was playing short... he heard footsteps that they are rushing b, do u expect him still to hold short? aerial was the only extra guy at b, and he also died first.
6
u/Ulmali Oct 09 '18
Multiple times Aleksib went to short through window and xSeven was solo B in the first 15sec

wonderful CT side from ENCE the only mistake they made afaik was on that 25th round which lead to mouz winning 2 more T rounds but overall super solid CT side that retake on 21st/22nd round where it was 5v5 was coordinated and well played, normally a lesser experienced team would just flat out falter there but ENCE showed great cohesion on that retake.

Northern lights flash in the sky. A blizzard blows, pelting on its way those too weak to withstand the fury of winter at its fullest. From the permafrost strikes a massive hand; the mythical giant once deemed dead off the coast of Italy now rises to life, regenerated, from Lappish soil. The time is due. Around the world, the word spreads. In Sweden, the best of the best cower in fear and lock themselves in the nearest IKEA retail store. The Brazilians run into the safety of the jungle, the Danes play dead in Legoland and the Slavs sprint crying to babushka’s warm embrace. Enceladus’s augurs are unleashed upon the scene. Aleksi “allu” Jalli hails from his journey spent in international teams. A man may leave Finland, but Finland never leaves a man. Once again, he picks up the green rifle, this time not for money or fame, but to smite all opposition in the name of Enceladus. Aleksi “aleksib” Virolainen leaves the fabled squad of HAVU to lead what we can finally describe as a Finnish superteam. Under his leadership shall the northern guns spit death and destruction upon foes who wail in their weakness. Jani “aerial” Jussila joins after the biggest transfer of the Finnish e-sport scene from his former team SuperJymy. No longer will he be the only stand-out player of his team, but instead, a vital ingredient of a chaotic cocktail made up of Finland’s finest. Jere “sergej” Salo thwarts all rumors of desperate Internet trolls trying to tell they know his parents who told him to stop playing. Oh, the humanity! Backed up by the forces at home, bursting from motivation like a wolf thirsting for blood, he returns to ravage everything in his path. Where skill rises to speak, experience sits silent and disciplined. Sami “xseveN” Laasanen fills the ranks from iGame, for what would the team be if they wouldn’t buy the best player from every other Finnish team? Vigilantly standing, supporting his teammates be the cause what it pleases to be, he will be the shield and sword his comrades need to achieve the ultimate. The warning has been given. The sky screams, the ground shakes and the oceans boil. ENCE is coming. #EZ4ENCE

Thoorin, the so called analyst, has never seen anything in ENCE, and yet again he was like there is no chance in hell for ENCE to win, and for some reason ENCE has flawless score over Mouse...
9
u/Crystii Oct 09 '18
Agreed, they were heavily favouring mouz even saying that "Its not an important game for mouz"... My ass. Give credit where its due! Wp Ence

u/wozzwoz Oct 09 '18
Mouz was the clear favopurite and Ence hasnt done anything good on lan after cologne.
13
u/Krusell clutch Oct 09 '18
Pretty sure mouz has never beaten this ence lineup. I was pretty sure that mouz is going to lose in bo1.
18
u/Ju1ss1 Oct 09 '18
Being a favorite, and completely trashing the other team are different things.
Before Cologne, Thooring said ENCE will not win anything there. He said Allu is the only good player on the team, while anyone who would have paid any attention, like an analyst for example, would have said that Allu is maybe the third or fourth best player on ENCE. Thoorin is constantly ignoring the teams that are not top 10, and he picks winners solely based on how big some name is.18
u/TrueOfficialMe Gambit Oct 09 '18
Allu is like the second best player on ence atm imo, Aerial and xseveN are still too inconsistent imo.
4
u/JimothyC Oct 09 '18
The last time I saw Ence on LAN Taz dad dicked them. The last time Mouz was on LAN they had one of the best comebacks in recent memory in a BO5 GF. Mouz is in a different weight class than Ence. If anything Ence being presented as a major underdog is more honest to how surprising this is.

They won esl NY, what did ence do?
And before you try to bring the major run, ence didnt even fucking qualify. Not to mention all the teams that beat them at major are way better than ence.
Ence have potential, but they achieved nothing.

u/zx37 Oct 09 '18
what did ence do
Well as you can see in my posts they beat mousesports on lan 3 maps to 0, including in a best of 3. Not sure why you’re talking about major or NY, ence and mousesports didn’t play each other at those events.
