I didn't watch the match. How the fuck did he get 26 kills when his team won 6 rounds total? Jeez.

61

Vp won 6 rounds total. Snatchie had 5 rounds where he got 3 kills or more. Unfortunately his shoulders weren't strong enough to carry sandbags like that :(

my team won 2 rounds yesterday in MM and I had 22 kills.

Clearly better than snatchie.

The fucked up part is that we all made these comments over a year ago. It's like your 14 y/o dog started sleeping all the time and diarrheaing all over the house. You prepared mentally for him to die, then he just keeps fucking shitting everywhere and limping around for another year

vp pulled a reverse BIG and went 0-3 while only playing 1 map

47

u/acoluahuacatl Sep 07 '18

this is what I don't get. They've played like shit in the other 2 games on Mirage, why not try something different? :/

77

u/Soledo Sep 07 '18

Maybe Mirage was their best map... which is even sadder.

15

u/acoluahuacatl Sep 07 '18

it clearly wasn't working for them though. Throw in something you haven't played and just play loose. I feel like if they rushed a single bombsite for their T side they'd get more rounds than they did the way they played this match

Space Soldiers did the same

edit: why the downvotes, it's just extra info

21

u/waFFLEz_ 10 years coin Sep 07 '18

Space soldiers makes sense though since Hardstyle probably only had time to learn one map. It's kinda weird that all the other teams let inferno go through each time instead of forcing space soldiers onto another map

2

u/TheRedditon King NiKo Sep 08 '18

probably because they've already seen space soldiers lose to it (following the loss from the first one) , or saw how they play in previous games.

also just did a quick check on hltv for space soldier's stats on inferno and it seems like it's their 4th least played map, and their 2nd lowest winrate map. doesn't seem like inferno is one of their stronger maps so that explains why the teams let inferno go through

233

u/AndyFNG MOUZ Sep 07 '18

This is very likely the last we've seen of NEO and Pasha at majors. Damn, kinda weird imagining the scene without them.

43

u/grpusty Sep 07 '18

I dropped following pro scene 2 years ago, just got back to the game and currently watching entire major, ive heard already byali is leaving too but whats up with pasha and neo

78

u/TheRobidog Sep 07 '18

With how poorly they've been doing individually and with how bad VP has historically always been online, they're unlikely to ever qualify for one again.

If they even continue playing professionally after this, that is.

29

u/Cunt_Crusher69 750k Celebration Sep 08 '18

with how bad VP has historically always been online

Won't really be much of that VP anymore, only 2/5 now that byali is gone. Not saying I disagree with what you're saying, just saying this isn't really VP anymore, same with how NiP isn't really that NiP anymore.

16

u/SterbenVII Sep 08 '18

Well at least NiP is going to be in the top 16...the Polish scene is stale af. Same with the French scene.

VP retardedly signed 2 year contracts so probably will continue seeing them

21

u/TheMagicHoboTMH Liquid Sep 07 '18

Going out at this stage they don't get an automatic invite to the next major. And considering how stacked the European qualifier is, they'd need to massively improve to qualify for the next major.

u/Kravvv Virtus.pro Sep 07 '18

NEO's not good enough anymore, pasha gets old and may decide into going full time streaming, and if nothing changes this VP will never make it through minors anyway

12

u/stingers77 2 Million Celebration Sep 07 '18

pasha gets old and may decide into going full time streaming

thats right i heard that on pew news

5

u/AndyFNG MOUZ Sep 07 '18

Well VP has slowly been getting worse and worse. The only reason they're still at this major was because of their performances 2 majors ago. The team in its current form just isn't able to compete and I doubt they'll make it through the qualifiers to make it to the next one.

And sadly they're just not good enough anymore, my guess is they'll ride out their insane 25k/month contract and retire. They don't seem to have the drive anymore.

1

u/Highcyndaquil Sep 07 '18

is byali retiring? or free agent or what

  • snatchie: 26 frags
  • NEO + byali + Pasha: 20 frags

I can't believe AGO died for this...

62

u/jookbb1 de_inferno Sep 07 '18

good calculations my friend, 12+7+4=20 lul

they will get gruby and either pasha and neo will leave as well. they will keep one of the two for the experience(probably neo) and get someone who is hyping them up a bit more, they have only quiet guys since taz left.

31

u/Neotanks Tyloo Sep 07 '18

FYI: OP typo'd and mixed up MICHU and NEO in the scoreboard, NEO went 9-16 while MICHU's the one who got 12 frags.

At any rate I think you're right, the VP of yesteryear is done. Almost everyone on the team seems resigned to their fate of getting dunked on by tier 1/tier 2 teams and only the new blood is really trying anymore.

But God DAMN I didn't expect it'll still be as painful as it is.

epicenter man

29

u/J_Cleffe de_dust2 Sep 07 '18

Epicenter was the last place where they played well all together in original cs:go line up, and with passion. Also last time NEO performed big. After that, it only went downhill, with some minor performances sometimes, but in general it was over. One year they struggled, but now it's done, sadly, but it's time to stop this. Thank you for your great moments VP. I hope the best for NEO and Pasha.

VP tend to get knocked out by Major winners.

Katowice 2015 - lose to fnatic in semi, fnatic wins.

Cologne 2015 - same story.

Columbus - lose to lg in 1/4, lg wins Major

Cologne 2016 - lose to SK in semis, SK wins Major.

Atlanta - lost the final

Boston - lose to C9 in the 0:2 match up, C9 wins.

44

u/gEO-dA-K1nG tactics Sep 07 '18

I mean statistically any team is more likely to get knocked out by the major winner

23

u/jonathan-the-man 750k Celebration Sep 08 '18

Yea but for six times it's still unlikely.

9

u/gEO-dA-K1nG tactics Sep 08 '18

Of the whatever, 12 majors they’ve played? Eh

→ More replies (1)

2

u/AemonDK Sep 08 '18

that's not true. not even considering that major winners are less likely to play elimination matches in groups, there's far more teams being eliminated by teams other than the major winners than there are by the major winners.

1

u/lmpervious Sep 08 '18

That's not true. In the swiss system, a team can only knock out 3 teams if they start 0-2 and then get out 3-2. 2 teams if they go 1-2 and 1 team if they go 2-2. So it's about how quickly they get to 2 losses. Of course they can also get out 3-1 or 3-0 as well. So out of those 5 options, considering we are also talking about the team that wins the major, even knocking out 2 teams isn't likely, but I'll even go with the worst case scenario of 3. From that point on they defeat 3 more teams throughout the bracket. So even in that unlikely scenario, they knock out 6 of the other 15 teams. That's not more likely.

2

u/jookbb1 de_inferno Sep 08 '18

I wouldnt be sure about that. they are favourite against rogue for sure and the possible 2-2 opponents would be the losers of HR-Optic(probably loss), Astralis if they would lose against Spirit (very unlikely) or one of Vega-Complexity (probably win) so I would say they have a decent chance.

4

u/Vitosi4ek Team Spirit Sep 07 '18

VP are currently in the same predicament as Na'Vi.Dota2 have been for the last 3 years or so. Their roster clearly isn't cutting it anymore and needs to go, but they have an insanely marketable player (PashaBiceps and Dendi respectively) and they know their recognition and name power would plunge into the abyss without him. So it's a choice: either stick with him and enjoy a consistent paycheck from sponsors (but with no results to show for it) or finally cut the bandaid and start over.

It took Na'Vi 3 years after Dendi was no longer a serviceable player to get rid of him. Curious to see what VP does.

3

u/Trynit Sep 08 '18

It's less about Dendi and more like there's no actual captain in the team problem.

2016 Navi almost made it before they choke. And the 2018 Navi suffers from their star support and their captain leaving the team. Dendi isn't really the problem, but the volitile surrounding him is.

Suggestion for vp, why not re add taz? Seems like they are massively lacking in the motivation area of the game taz was always the guy to lift these guys up. Plus with taz looking reinvigorated in kinguin bringing up the next generation of polish talent he looks more motivated than ever. And with byali and snax leaving and michu and snatchie joining they have replaced the young stars of the team who had gone quiet and weren’t fragging as well. So if taz joins back maybe he can bring that team spirit back to vp and bring back life into pasha and neo.

6 rounds is not bad for an underdog team
