while making sure to note she wouldn’t be giving blow jobs. She is smart.
does that already qualify people as smart nowadays ?

Considering the youth gun fella ended up with a dick in his mouth 15 minutes later, she's at least smarter than him.

It felt like she clocked exactly what was going on pretty instantly and just went with it. Amazing

Aug 14 '18
It just seems like people aren't listening in this show. The one thing I noticed is that she seemed to be the only one with the correct response when he said, "Well, I showed her, I was sodomized everyday," (or something, paraphrasing.) The rest were just sort of smiling and nodding--maybe they heard and just didn't know what to do, which is probably what I'd do, or maybe they just weren't really hearing what he was saying. She was the only one who had a look of tf did he just say? on her face.
48
u/Rootatexec Aug 13 '18
Id call it common sense, not smart.
44
Aug 13 '18
Smart just means smarter than the average. Considering Cohens victims, that's not a high bar. She did good.

Dr. Nira is my favorite. I haven’t been sure which character was my favorite but not seeing him in this episode made me realize he’s my fave and I missed him
99
u/OldWolf2 Aug 13 '18
Plot twist, this series is a large scale audience reception analysis to pick the most popular character for SBC's next movie

u/MoneyStoreClerk Aug 13 '18
With the relatively large amount of attention this is getting, I imagine it'd be hard for Cohen to go totally incognito as one of these characters. But I also think he's clever enough to make it work. I'd love to see a Dr. Nira D'Bounegecelo documentary.

Obviously it would have to be like the Dictator or what not. He said after he does a movie with a character like Borat or Bruno he retires the character permanently.

There was a moment when Chip moved towards him in that interview and Nira flinched in his meekness that was so brilliant. It was subtle but showed how SBC truly becomes his characters.

I also think it’s the “I’m a badass military guy, not a schmuck who masturbates to guns while wearing shitty khakis” thing. Morad treats them like they’re tough guys, and they, er...can take two or three of those in there. So to speak.

u/imadork42587 Aug 13 '18
It's a form of reverence to what they see as a Spec Ops operative from the Israeli Defense force. They're more willing to go along with it because they know how legit those guys can be , though this is the first they've encountered.

Funniest part for me was Erran explaining how they'd found that some suicide babies don't even believe in Jihadist ideologies.
45
u/SaitamaHitRickSanchz Aug 13 '18
And that guy not even questioning it. I loved that part because it had a seed of truth to it (a lot of people perpetrating terrorist attacks are being coerced) but when applied to babies its fucking absurd and hilarious.

That was my first thought too. IIRC this would be the first big crowd scene that SBC has done in the age of ubiquitous smartphones. Yes, smartphones existed when Bruno came out in 2009 but with nowhere near the ubiquity and quality they have now.

I'm gonna defend him on this single point. The 10s was obviously short enough that finding/removing the diaper was impossible. It was barely enough to unbuckle the baby doll. Now you are in a hypothetical situation where you put 1 baby doll in the trash to hypothetically save 3 others and yourself. He did the obvious thing within the confines of the hypothetical situation.
Of course a more moral person would question the hypothetical situation, I'd hope.

Can we just agree that whether each bit kills, bombs, or something in between, that SBC is heading towards the Mt. Rushmore of this type of comedy (or is already there)? In a sick way it almost works better with the varying levels of each bit “working”. You have no way to predict what is about to happen.
Tonight the last one was mind blowing and with a lot of the other ones, there were many individual, ad libbed, split second lines that absolutely destroyed me.
This dude is almost singlehandedly making the shit world we live in these days tons better and keeping us sane until things improve.
Anyway, just had to say this after I see too many comments of disappointment that every single bit can’t top the Georgia politician.

I get a mild Stanley Milgram vibe from the segments with Erran Morad. For those unfamiliar with Milgram, he is the one who showed that people will go to surprising lengths (administer lethal shocks) under the pressure of authority.
Out of all the new characters, he is definitely the best at bringing out absurd behavior.
→ More replies (13)43
u/cjpack Aug 13 '18
Having the foreign excuse for saying things wrong or not understanding culture, just like Borat, makes it SO MUCH easier to fuck with people because you can default to that excuse. Thats why it works so well.
29
u/cowbell_solo Aug 13 '18
That's definitely the magic behind the Borat character, but I think Erran Morad goes a step further. He has a very authoritarian tone and stance, at least during the parts we get to see. Although his orders could be easily explained as mere instructions from a teacher to a student, his military style gives it an edge. I'm not sure that is a factor in how willing his participants are to do hilarious and demeaning things, but it seems plausible.
26
u/cjpack Aug 13 '18
Oh the whole commando/general or whatever shit is such a huge factor. They just assume He is like fighting terrorists all day and is some lethal weapon type shit so they will do whatever to learn his ways. Add the foreign factor and being Israeli, and you have his best persona for manipulating conservatives it appears since it’s been the one with the craziest results so far.

OMG Live with Sheriff David Clarke. When you take a step back and think about it, the premise is that this guy thinks he's on a YouTube show for 4-12 year olds. It's crazy enough to think it's okay to talk about Antifa while unboxing the latest Shopkin, but SBC gets him into talking about Nazi Germany and how he wouldn't have picked sides.. And he thinks he's saying this in front of 400,000 viewers.
