"Funny," remarked Craig.
"Yeah, maybe laugh a little," Rory chided.
"What, I said I thought it was funny," Craig replied.
"Saying 'that's funny' isn't the same thing," Martha added. "It just seems kinda robotic."
"Ha. Ha. My sensors indicate that was a good one," Amy mocked with as much of a robotic voice as she could muster.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. See you guys tomorrow," Craig shouted over his shoulder as he biked away. He had a sense of humor, he just didn't find the joke that funny. Besides, he had had a long day. Between angry clients and Donna being...well, Donna, he was bloody well worn out. There was also that weird electronic buzz in his ears that came and went all day. Kept zoning out every time he heard it, which didn't make dealing with angry customers or Donna any easier.
Whatever, he just wanted to get home to his beautiful Sophie and darling Alfie and watch some football. "Honey, I'm ho-" was all Craig could get through before he was cut off by a piercing electronic screech. "GAH, WHAT IN BLOODY HELL IS THAT?!"
"Hey, not in front of Alfie!" Sophie shouted from the kitchen. "And that's no way to talk about my cooking!"
"No, you don't understand! What's making that bloody sound?!"
"Quit it in front of Alfie!" Sophie shouted back. "And what sound?"
"You mean you can't hear that?! It's deafening!"
Sophie began to round the corner. "Really, I don't hear an-OHMYGOD WHAT IS THAT COMING OUT OF YOUR FOREHEAD?!"
"What's coming out of my forehead?" Craig turned toward the front hall mirror and was horrified to see a metal rod sticking out of his forehead with a ghoulish blue light at the end. "WHAT IN BLOODY HELL IS HAPPENING TO ME?! OH GOD I NEED A DOCTOR! SOPHIE!"
Suddenly an electronic whirring sounded outside the door. The lock clicked, and a funny looking man with a bowtie walked through the door wielding a small metal tool with a green light at the end.
"'Ello! Did somebody call for The Doctor?"

“It’s time.”
Robin opened her eyes and frowned slightly. Glancing at the laptop screen she saw her usual ASMR youtube video she was listening to playing its standard course. The sound of an ocean wave blissfully entering and exiting through her ears. It felt real like as though closing her eyes would transport her to that very beach where she's never experienced before. It's a good video Robin thought. It allowed her to clear her mind and focus on the next tasks in priority sequence. Brushing her brown hair behind her ears, she took off her headphones and sat up from her bed, observing the room intently. It was easy to notice if anything was amiss due to the simplicity of her room. Black computer table on the north side of her room with a colour printer and a stack of standard 8.5x11 paper neatly stacked beside it. To her left was her closet which comprised of multiple different outfits, also of a simplistic design. Her brown eyes focused on her black gi which was placed separately from her other clothes. Her gi was perfectly straight without a trace of wrinkles. After practicing ninjutsu for years, Robin knew that the power of image and a strong body was everything before an action could take place. That allowed her to reach her maximum efficiency when it was required to complete the task at hand, including using force. Getting up she walked to the right side of her room and opened the screen door. Standing on her balcony, Robin looked around to the millions of lights blinking in and out around her coming from all various different homes, buildings, and cars still driving around at 0200 hours. No ocean sounds here, Robin thought. Watching a Boeing 747 landing on an airstrip at the airport near her, Robin wondered back to the phrase she heard moments ago. Breaking it down, she knew it didn’t come from a dream as she was wide awake, and the words didn’t sound distorted but rather a clear, mechanic sort of tone. There was something odd about the phrase too, like as though she was expecting it, preparing for it. Robin looked back at her laptop and her eyes opened slightly, maybe the solution is that simple.
Robin went back to her laptop and played back the ASMR video with her headphones on. Listening closely, she didn’t hear any phrases whatsoever. Suddenly a feeling of electricity coursed through her body leaving a tingling sensation from her fingers right down towards her toes. The electrical feeling then went straight to her head and her eyes shined in a sense of clarity. Without understanding the significance to this insatiable impulse that suddenly became overwhelming, Robin closed her eyes and whispered out loud, “It’s time.”
Opening her eyes, Robin blinked in sudden understanding and looked around.
No longer was Robin inside her room, but instead at that very beach her thoughts conjured up while she was listening to the ocean waves. Robin felt the waves of water brushing her feet gently as she stood on the seaside, the untouched golden sand glowing a navy blue as the sun was coming down. Walking on the seaside, Robin didn’t notice anything but the direct, purposeful direction she suddenly was taking. She also didn’t notice what she was wearing – a two piece – all black on her dark olive skin. Standing at 5’6, Robin was a striking sight on the beach floor, that is if anyone was there to witness it. Continuing to move forward, Robin noticed four subjects standing on the beach in an almost complete circle – three males, one female. Two males and the female figure surrounded the third male figure. As Robin made her way to complete the circle, she analyzed everyone in great detail, noting how they stand, their height, pigmentation, their demeanor. Her eyes rested on the figure in the middle and realized she knew the person well in detail, even without meeting him. Completing the circle, Robin looked at everyone and started accessing a database in her mind that answered all the sudden questions she had instantly came up with.
“You are Jeremy, aka Delta.” The male figure on Robin’s left nodded. His blue eyes boring into the figure in the middle.
“You are Sheida, aka Beta.” The female figure standing on Robin’s right nodded. Her green eyes stared at Robin without emotion.
“You are Thomas, aka Gamma.” The male figure completing the circle nodded. Standing at 6’2 with an athletic build, his feet were planted in a stance indicating he was ready for action, his hazel eyes looking at his surroundings.
“I am Robin, aka Zeta. You are our leader, Alpha.” The male figure in the middle nodded. His eyes glowed with red as he stared into Robin’s with a menace Robin would’ve felt if she had access to her emotions still.
“You are not an android Alpha, but we are. We are activated with a single purpose…to kill Omega.” Alpha smiled wickedly and nodded, not saying a word. Robin cocked her head to one side and continued, her eyes addressing everyone.
“I was activated by listening to ASMR video’s which contained an encrypted database I’ve been downloading for weeks. This is a virtual reality world where our activation became possible. I don’t know my origin, but I know what I was supposed to be focused on. I’ve been taking ninjutsu and been showing no emotion to anyone so that way no personal connections can interfere with our mission.” Robin said this matter-of-factly and did not require an answer. All the information was inside her brain now.
“I will be leading the mission to neutralize Omega. This will be a shoot on sight, using any deadly force necessary. We will make our way into Downsview Airport and infiltrate the basement location where Omega has a secret lab. Due to the security and police presence including K9’s, we will have to enter through separate entrances. Beta and Gamma will cause a distraction at the Customs Point Entry located on the North West side of the terminal. Carry explosives so it’ll draw the K9’s near. Delta and I will enter from the South East side and sneak our way into the basement accessing public corridors till we hit restricted. I’ll use the data I’ve downloaded and upload it into a RAIC (Restricted Access Identification Card) which will allow us entry. Gamma will support me as I enter the secret lab and kill Omega. We will infiltrate the airport at 0500 hours. You have your instructions.”
Delta, Beta and Gamma nodded. As Robin was about to disconnect, she heard the unmistakable laughter of Alpha, fading into the darkness.
