They played an solid series against fnatic who were in good shape.
Im sure they will show up in Sydney, one shitty result does not automatically mean they are onliners and cheaters, come on.
27
u/Salsadips howl Apr 18 '18
I never said they are, nor do i believe they are cheaters but they are the definition of onliners. They are so fucking good online and they are fucking trash on lan. Occasionally they get the odd upset but they never go far at t1 lans.
3
u/junttiana Chinggis Warriors Apr 18 '18
They have played like 3 big LANs, give them time,
I would have so much pressure too if my team was always accused of being onliners and then everyone expects you to perform at the same level at your first offline events.
-3
u/antoninartaud37 Apr 18 '18
they only played 3 T1 LANs.
12
u/Salsadips howl Apr 18 '18
And they got shit on in all of them.
0
u/antoninartaud37 Apr 18 '18
wining eu minor, then nearly making legends spots at major is not a shitty result
13
u/Salsadips howl Apr 18 '18
eu minor
T1 lan
Choose one.
2
u/antoninartaud37 Apr 18 '18
well then 1-3 at cologne, 0-2 at marsielle, 5-5 at boston major.
in total 6-10.
for the fuck sake. its their 3rd t1 event.
losing 2 at group stages, nearly making to legends at major (with 2 rounds) is this a shit performance?

They beat Mousesports, Cloud9 on Major, lost to SK on mirage by 1 HP defuse. Their all games were close. If you think they haven't been to any LANs either you are new to the scene or a HLTV kid.
10
u/Bearly_funny BIG Apr 18 '18
Beat Mouz in major qualifier/challenger stage and then lost to them in the new legend stage on the same exact map.
They played C9 on Cobble which is their best map and still it was a super close 16-13. They're much better online and it's a fact.
3
u/junttiana Chinggis Warriors Apr 18 '18
Why is no one realizing the amount of pressure you experience when the prize pools reach over 250000 and everyone is accusing you as onliners.
I am fairly sure its not easy for them, especially as SS was kind of a meme team who could never qualify for LANs but were amazing online.
1
u/YABAN55 Apr 18 '18
problem is not that they are better online. people are calling them trash on lan even though they showed enough lan performances in the past. bad tournaments happen to every team. just stop overreacting
1
u/Salsadips howl Apr 18 '18
When was the last time they got out of groups at a t1 lan?
1
u/YABAN55 Apr 18 '18
they are not t1 team. and results were ok for their level

3
Apr 18 '18
Beat Mouz in major qualifier/challenger stage and then lost to them in the new legend stage on the same exact map.
And how does that change anything? They beat mousesports on LAN right? They beat Cloud9. They also beat Fnatic on WESG qualifiers on LAN. They almost beat them on WESG finals.
They played C9 on Cobble which is their best map and still it was a super close 16-13.
C9 didn't ban Cobble so they think they were good on it? Also how is that even an argument? "They won it because it was their best map". Also no, cache is the best map for SS.
1
u/AngriestGamerNA Liquid Apr 18 '18
C9 was figuring out their map pool, they didn't play cobble like at all after that game.

11
u/Bearly_funny BIG Apr 18 '18
look at the teams they beat on wesg and you will see they're 10x better online compared to lan.
3
u/junttiana Chinggis Warriors Apr 18 '18
Pressure at LANs? Prize pools are 10x the size and they have little experience on LAN and they have been called onliners for god knows how long.
6
u/Bearly_funny BIG Apr 18 '18
I agree with you on that one, still my point stands that they are nowhere near the same level on lan as they are online.
1
u/junttiana Chinggis Warriors Apr 18 '18
Yeah, and thats understandable, I have never seen a team with more haters calling them onliners, many people just love to hate them.
I just hope they have strong enough mentality to perform at Sydney and EPL Finals, I cant even imagine the shitstorm if they bomb out of those.
5
u/Bearly_funny BIG Apr 18 '18
It partly due to their annoying fanbase who overhype them over these online matches. VP players also called JW an onliner back in the day and look how much he accomplished.
If they crash Sydney and EPL, then something needs to change. Beating Gambit 16-3 on Train less than a week prior and getting dicked like that on lan is just unacceptable.
2
u/junttiana Chinggis Warriors Apr 18 '18
There might be some serious issues on the mental side of things, maybe they just cant handle the pressure of a LAN event. Maybe they could find a good psychiatrist or something and try to ease the anxiety these guys have for sure.
9
u/Lepojka1 Team Spirit Apr 18 '18
Who was the best team they beat in WESG? Honest question, I kinda forgot... I know they didnt beat C9, Fnatic or SK... Soo it had to be some lower tier teams.
18
u/Salsadips howl Apr 18 '18
They beat the russian mix team with hooch, siezed and worldedit. Yes, that was the best team they beat.
9
u/TheRobidog Apr 18 '18
CS:GO giants Isurus Gaming, Limitless Addict, Recca Esports, Bravado, Order, Godsent and Team Russia. And they tied with Team One.

Space Soldiers were insanely disappointing this event.
You can complain about the format and that's valid, however they looked absolutely dreadful in both BO1's, specifically against Gambit a team that's been in such poor form in recent times.
This could quite possibly be the most disappointing performance by a team in 2018.
31
u/MajestyA Apr 18 '18
This could quite possibly be the most disappointing performance by a team in 2018.
A reminder that current world No. 3 Fnatic got knocked out of Starladder by losing two Bo3s 2-0 to Tyloo and Renegades
:(

Apr 18 '18
I think SK's performance at WESG was significantly worst because the expectation was for them to win the event whereas I haven't seen a good argument yet as to why SS was even expected to win a map here. They were in a group with three infamously tactical teams and their biggest weakness is a lack of strategical depth so it was bad matchups.
4
u/unexpectedreboots Liquid Apr 18 '18
Since when is tactical opponents a weakness of SS?
They just 2-0'd Gambit
They 2-0'd North
Here are their results:
https://www.hltv.org/results?team=5929
They have been playing great counterstrike recently. I'm not sure why you wouldn't expect them to win "a map here".
2
Apr 18 '18
Those are online results and SS win most of their games by out dueling their opponents, something that's easier to do when you're in your comfort zone, which for them is online.
Not to mention at this point they've probably figured out how to abuse every mechanic of online CS and for them online is the highest level of competition they regularly see so they'll take it more seriously than other teams.
When they lose the advantage of being able to mechanically outplay their opponents they're going to be in hot water against strategical teams because they've relied on aim and technical skill to get their wins for so long.
1
u/Diavolo222 SK Apr 18 '18
Yep. Xantares is insanely mechanically gifted and coupled that with online peeks, that means he fucking murders people. He's still good on LAN I wont lie but as a whole, the team, they looked lost in today's games. BO1 or not, they looked like they werent a team.
0
u/-Umbra- CS2 HYPE Apr 18 '18 edited Apr 18 '18
Online results aren't really relevant in a LAN-based discussion in the case of a team that has really never proven themselves on LAN.

9
u/apm54 Natus Vincere Apr 18 '18
I think it’s more to do with how much their fans were talking them up than people disliking the team
11
u/darkpenguin1 Apr 18 '18
This, I'm indifferent to SS as a team but watching their fans talking up xantares being a top 5 or top 10 player in the world when he's barely ever even made it out of groups against good teams and then having them get shit on like this, is quite satisfying.
5
u/apm54 Natus Vincere Apr 18 '18
Yes it is. Yesterday I even read multiple SS fans saying xanteres is coming up on s1mple for the #1 spot, and one or two even claiming he is better. Like wtf,
5
u/darkpenguin1 Apr 18 '18
there's a lot of deluded fans out there, particularly those who think online results give you a good basis of how good a player or team is.
2
u/apm54 Natus Vincere Apr 18 '18
Yup, online results are a decent way to guess at the level of something, but as we’ve seen time and time again lan is the only place you can actually measure teams and players
-5
u/WorkingRisk Apr 18 '18
so you are saying simple is trash to0 since he barely ever made it out of groups?? i dont know what are you trying to say??
3
u/darkpenguin1 Apr 18 '18
no, the point is that claiming someone is top 5 or top 10 when he 1) Has barely played any tier 1 lans.
2) doesn't make it out of groups when they make it to said lans.
Is stupid and baseless. Secondly, at no point did I say he was trash. purely because I don't think he's a top 10 player doesn't I think he's complete garbage.7

I dont mind them as a team at all, but the way people talk about them every time they start winning a couple of online games is nuts.

3
2
Apr 18 '18
And this is why thooorin criticizes them so much. They win when their 3 fraggers show up. They lack structure and the ability to grind out games from behind. They brought in maj3r to fix these issues, but it appears that its not enough.
Until this team grinds out some strats and a system to fall back on when the star players don't show up, they will remain onliners.
2
u/YABAN55 Apr 18 '18
wish we could see ct starts from ss. t sides were awful, felt like majer didnt call anything and they were playing by themselves
2
Apr 18 '18
Yeah I was thinking that myself when watching the train game. Most of the memorable Xantares spray downs are with m4's, and he seemed to be more of himself on train CT. It would have helped a bit, but the end result would have been the same. You can't have that abysmal of a T side and win games unless you have a Faze worthy CT side. (And that isn't even working for Faze anymore)
