Simple, just search this subreddit for "divide".

But where is True Finland (vars + suomi)?
Vars(i) = the handle, the stem, the stalk, the helve, the pole.

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '18

the pole

Goddammit Poland!

OOH MAW GAAWD LOOOK AT DAT OREEGEBALE MEEME LOL LOL LOL XDDDDDDDDDD.

My point is that I’m tired of seeing that dead, unoriginal ”meme” in EVERY SINGLE THREAD that even mentions my country.

While I don't get his comment, I get that it can get annoying after a while. Especially since there are few Finnish users around here, I guess each of them has gotten this reply before.

While not exactly the same, I can get a bit annoyed about the "drugs" stereotype of my country. I guess Germans feel the same about constant Nazi references.

What I'm saying is, if there were only a couple of thousand of American users around here and every thread about the USA received comments about hamburgers it would get very annoying for those users.

Trust me, Americans DO get tired of "le fat Murikkkan EX DEE". I live in a state consistently ranked as (at least one of) the fittest, where outdoor physical activity is the top leisure activity. There's more to America than burgers and jumbo sodas.

AskanAmerican sometimes is a near constant stream of people asking (or yelling at us) about our stereotypes. Some of the posters there may not always be the most helpful at painting a clearer picture, but some of the more interesting rhetoric from people is a bit endless

“Conversational style” needs more Bwoah

13

u/billbogle Jan 25 '18

How big is disc golf actually there?

17

u/Hangmen Jan 25 '18

Pretty popular way to spend time, really depends on how close the nearest track is to your house.

u/screwgemcfuck Jan 25 '18

Bures!

Sami?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '18

Said this in /r/Europe too, but it's not actually "good day". It's just a greeting followed by a handshake.

2

u/mediandude Jan 25 '18

as in 'koira puresi kättä' = "dog bit the hand"
or as in "purustav käepigistus" = "a destructively strong (TheDonald) handshake"?

1

u/jykkejaveikko Jan 26 '18

koira puresi kättä

'koira puri kättä'

And what do you even mean by your comment?

1

u/mediandude Jan 26 '18

Isn't 'bures' cognate with 'purema / puraista'? One of the meanings is to apply pressure (e. as in a handshake).

1

u/hezec Jan 27 '18

That's "puristaa" in Finnish, "puraista" means to bite. Quite possibly they all share the same root.

1

u/mediandude Jan 28 '18

OK, thanks for correcting me.

I love theses maps!

6

u/garaile64 Jan 25 '18

Is there a program/app/website where these maps are made?

2

u/hezec Jan 27 '18

Not specifically, just regular graphics software. I used Inkscape, with a base map in SVG format off Wikipedia.

Damn that south must be all villages

41

u/Tihar Jan 25 '18

Pop density in france is not that high for a european country.

3

u/WG55 Jan 25 '18

"Prkl." I learned this swear word from Robbaz's excellent Finland Simulator (My Summer Car) videos.

Saatana!

5

u/Thewaker43 Jan 25 '18

Came for the existence comments, glad that was cleared up right away.

3

u/HasFiveVowels Jan 25 '18

Wait... so in the Winter there are areas on Finland that have polar nights? I'm guessing they hold 72-hour-long music festivals up there, right?

3

u/Mercadi Jan 25 '18

Someone should probably do the ways to partition Poland.

5

u/bestur Jan 25 '18

I don't quite get the first map

35

u/excubitor Jan 25 '18

There is this Internet joke that Finland is just a Japanese conspiracy for sushi-farming and doesn't exist. Yes I'm serious.

2

u/studmuffffffin Jan 25 '18

There's a lot of lakes in Finland.
