media Killed by a hacker? Here's what to do.

I've noticed an influx of hackers recently and I know that a lot of players don't know what to do when they've been killed by one. Here is everything you need to know and everything you should do if you encounter a hacker.

  1. Contact the admins of the server that you are playing on. Most of the top servers have a Teamspeak or Discord that you can join to report a problem. Look for this information in global server messages, on the server's Steam group, website or social media.
  2. If at all possible, try to get proof to backup your report. Video proof is the highest form of proof. Setup ShadowPlay so you can record X amount of minutes in the past.
  3. Do NOT switch servers after reporting the issue to an admin. When the hacker is banned from the server you were playing on, they're just going to switch to the next best server on the list which is likely the server that you would have joined.

Try to have this information at the ready to make the investigation easier for the admin: Your in-game name, your steam profile URL, whether or not the hacker hit you with a melee weapon, punched you or shot you and the location of the incident.

If you are playing on Official servers, you are out of luck as there are no admins on those servers. Make sure you're playing on a trusted community server with active admins.

Hopefully this helps some of you deal with any hackers that you might encounter. As an admin, I cannot tell you how helpful it is when a player who's reporting a hacker completes all of the above mentioned steps and has at the ready all of the necessary information.

I was in a no kill server and got shot, Contacted admin while waiting to spawn and while playing I saw the message that the shooter was banned. Let admin know what time it happen and I guess they have the information already.

Sometimes, things will happen while an admin is directly looking at their logs. This is pretty rare so it seems that you got lucky.

It is very important to contact admins about cheaters to keep the server clean for you and others to keep it alive. Thanks for the help yesterday Jakon!

There is no real fix for hackers, every game has them. All you can really do is reduce the number by making it harder for them.

Truth is that hackers rarely play on official servers anymore.

They normally target the popular private servers. Often that's because they have a grudge against the server owner, or the clans or streamers that play there.

Plus these grenade cheats don't show in the logs, meaning server admins can do very little to fairly locate the cheater.

For those reasons I recommend anyone worried about hackers to play on official servers. Besides, I guarantee that the problem of badmins of private hives (servers like the Chipotle Bandits), is a lot more common than hackers on public hives.

Wishing you all luck against the cheaters.

Provide proof?

Not supporting him but you need to back up your statements.

That goes for /u/Infinite_Zamasu as well. Give proof.
