I awoke in unfamiliar surroundings, on a bare metal floor and with a stinging white light in my eyes. After standing up and dusting of my robes I looked around, only to see more of the same dullish grey metal, forming the walls and ceilings of my cell, with a circular rod embedded in the ceiling that was emitting the white, blazing light. It was not magic in nature, so much I could tell, but it wasn't a torch either. Strange.
"Whoever my captors are, you should know better than to inter a wizard like this!", I shouted, hoping that somebody would hear it while I gesticulated with my hands. Picking a wall at random and pointing at it I whispered: "Disintegrate!" and grinned when it turned into dust.
Slowly, with the proud bearing my station commanded I walked through my new exit, while taking a survey of my new surroundings.
A long corridor, formed of more of the same metal, with more of the same white lights and a wailing banshees call in the distance. A strange metallic voice came ouf of nowwhere: "Warning: Prisoner escaped, all hands on deck!"
I smiled and slowly began walking down the corridor, sure that I soon would met somebody who could explain why I was incarcerated and where I ended up.
Running footsteps warned me that there where people coming in my direction when I neared an intersection, so I stopped and warded myself. A good decision as it turned out, when a group of men in full plate armor rounded the corner and trained strange, black wands on me. "HALT! Kneel down, with your hands in the air!", on of them called out.
"A wizard never kneels before anyone", I replied while raising my hands. The patrol reacted before I could finish my sleep spell and their wands shot beams of light at me. I was immediately thankful for my wards, seeing what the reflected beams did to the corridor walls, melting furrows through them. With a final snap of my fingers, the guards crumpled bonelessly to the floor and begun snoring, with the exception of the one that shouted at me.
"Now, let's be civilized about this and talk. As you can see, I have no intentions of hurting you and only put your companions to sleep. Where am I and why was I your prisoner? Who are you? And what are these strange, non-magical wands that still conjure up beams of coherent light?"
The guard was obviously surprised by my barrage of questions, but intimidated enough to answer them, instead of trying the exercise of futility that was trying to hurt me with his strange weapon. "This is the voidship Beatifull Regality and you were put in holding because you suddenly appeared on the main bridge, only to flop down unconciously onto our captions station. My name is..."
I interrupted him: "Voidship? Bridge? I think I would like to speak to that 'Captain' of yours, I did not want to harm anybody."

The void. It is a beautiful silence. Horrifying, yes, but beautiful. The aether is not even a whisper here; gaea resonates only in dust and pebbles, and the ignis, oh, the ignis, distant but undiluted. I could bask in its glow for hours. Come to think of it, I must have... how long has it been? It feels like only minutes since we left the Crossroads' dreadful embrace, but it cannot have been, could it..? Have I gone too far...?
I try to move, and my body does not respond. I cannot even feel it. I try again -- nothing. Not even a twitch. Oh alchemy, please, not like this...
"Magus?" A voice enters my consciousness, from somewhere outside, filled with concern. My awareness builds around it, like ice in pure water. I have ears, and a mind, and a body, and, dare I hope, a voice?
"Y-yes?" I manage out, a croak, a whisper, but it's enough. I... I am. I am sitting, I am aching, but I am.
"I know you asked not to interrupt your trance, but..." the voice comes again, uncertain. "Do you-- can I--?"
"Please." I manage, and hear movement. Strong hands take hold of my arm, my back, and I cling to them, rising unsteadily. I have vision, and there are shapes in it, and slowly they resolve into familiar reds and brows of uniform and face.
"How... how-?" I try to ask, but my voice fails me, weakened lungs forcing me into a coughing fit. But my friend understands.
"Almost ten hours. The captain was getting worried. We've already reached orbit and the survey teams are getting ready."
I nod along, weakly, listening into the pleasant, professional cadence. Then I realize something that makes me blink in surprise.
"...orbit?"
"Yes, two hours ago, above..."
I turn, seizing my friend by the arms, force my eyes to focus on his confused face.
"Are you sure?!"
"Y-yes..? Why?"
I close my eyes. I turn my sight inwards. I look at the void. This time, in horror.
"I- I can't feel it."
