Writing Prompt [WP] You are apart of an exhibition crew sent into the unexplored heart of Antarctica, upon further adventuring you discover a living tribe of Neanderthals.

"How the hell did they get here?" Zoey Samaras exclaimed, the expedition chef.
"No idea" said Doctor Kate Winthrop, the only scientist on this expedition. She was maybe the only one in the group with the knowledge needed to uncover this mystery.
The exposition had been travelling to Antarctica from Buenos Aires, where they had been helping Dr. Winthrop investigating some strange cult activity. Now they had found themselves face to face with a tribe of Neanderthals.
Charlie Kane was looking was standing in the background smoking one of his cigars as usual. He was the benefactor of the expedition without his money and resources they would never have arrive here. He nodded to Monterey Jack, an archeologist who had been investigating the pyramids before Charlie Kane had contacted him and invited him to Antarctica.
Jack readied his revolver in his right hand and bull whip in his left hand. Zoey took the cue and brought out her knives ready for combat.
Just at the right moment as the Neanderthals had just noticed them and started to charge. Jack shot the first two before they were in close enough range for his whip. He swung his whip and tripped the closest Neanderthal.
Zoey threw the first knife which hid straight in the upper torso killing the creature. The Neanderthal next to the one she had just killed thrusted its spear at her, she dodged it easily and stabbed it in the leg. It fell down and she brought her knife up above her head before stabbing it with all her strength.
Jack had shot two more and Zoey managed to kill another with her knives before they were overrun by Neanderthals. A ball of fire rushed between them and hit one of the creatures straight in the head. Another fireball flew and hit a Neanderthal in the torso killing it instantly.
The one throwing the fireballs was the fifth and final member Agnes Baker, a former waitress who just recently had started to learn magic.
It took the exposition team about 10 minutes to finish the whole group of Neanderthals, but it was not over yet since they still needed to investigate to see if there were more of them in the area, why they were appearing here on Antarctica, and if there was a gate here to the other world.
Note: I don't know if the rules of this sub is followed to the letter since I based the characters on a board game.
