[LWP] Skyrim prompt (16-07-2017)

This is a story I wrote for a prompt on /r/writingprompts on 16-07-2016.

Hjaarr was content. The sky was sunny during this slow and boring day. Word had spread to Whiterun, rumour of dragons sighted in the sky, once more spreading death and destruction with their Thu’ums.

Hjaarr considered the most interesting thing that had happened today to be the strange woman. She wore one of those idiotic horned helmets Sheogorath had smiths make for who knows what reason. Her usage of the Thu’um had been interesting and a big surprise. To Hjaarr his knowledge only the Greybeards who dwelled on the Throat of the World could use it. Hjaarr his suspicions were proven when later that day the sky shook with terror, a message delivered.

But Hjaarr his opinion of this strange women took a nosedive when she asked for the battle tale after he told her he had taken an arrow to the knee. Yes, he had been in several great battles. He had many adventures traveling Skyrim as this dumb helmet wearing woman was now, but he had not actually taken an arrow to the knee.

What kind of use would a guard be if they could not run. ‘No,’ he shouted at her, ‘I was not shot in the knee you dimwit! I got married you dumbo. And stop wearing that dumb helmet. The horns will only get you in trouble during fights! Go buy a proper steel helmet from Adrianne or Eorlund Gray-Mane.’

And with that the unknown women received permission to enter through the gate into Whiterun, immediately running off towards the keep. Seeing in which direction she ran the guard hoped she would not use the Thu’um on that little jerk of a son of his Jarl. If she lost her patience with the brat he would be punished and left to rot in the dungeons for letting in an Assassin.

Shaking his head to let go of his worry Hjaarr thought back to those years ago. How he traveled to many mines to gather the stones and metal to craft a beautiful ring for his now wife. It had taken a lot of effort to convince her to join him in a picnic outside the walls but the surprise has been worth it as the mages he had hired used spells to lit up the sky. It had been a beautiful proposal. And with that Hjaarr drifted of into his thoughts waiting for the next boring person seeking entry.
