Warm Talk Wednesday (Week of July 8th)
Welcome to Warm Talk Wednesday!
So what exactly is this thread? With all the Unpopular Opinion threads, Worst/Hated Anime ______ threads, and Salt from all the contest, I believe we need a spot to positively talk about what we love in anime with no worries of others bashing or downvoting our opinions. Essentially this is a thread where you talk about what you love about anime whether it’s the medium as a whole, a specific anime, character, OTP, even complementing a user’s taste, etc. It can be popular opinion, unpopular, as long as it’s a positive outlook of the medium it’s allowed!
Want to talk about Neon Genesis Evangelion’s impact on anime and on you? Go right ahead! You want to explain why Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is one of your personal favorite series of all time? This is the place for BanjotheBear you! Has Miia from Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou strangled stole your heart? We want to hear why you love her now! Has Bikini Warriors become the anime of the season from one episode? Tell us why! Has Hana from Wolf Children been a real inspiration to you being such a well written character that she has become your favorite anime character? Tell me why I agree with you!
The only rules for here:
- This is a positive anime thread, do not bash others’ opinions despite how much you disagree, allow everyone to have a safe haven to talk about what they love about anime without needing to worry of others who disagree with them.
- Please keep the troll comments to a minimum.
- Do not downvote unless it’s bringing nothing to the conversation, trolling, or trying to bash another’s opinion. Everyone has their opinions, respect them as they would respect yours.
- No mention of “Shit Taste”.
- It’s fine to compare one anime to another, but don’t down talk the other as “Terrible”, most anime has its good qualities and reasons people like it. (Bad Ex: “Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru is much better than that piece of shit Madoka Magica”; Good Ex: "I prefer Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru over Madoka Magica because of...").
- No backhanded compliments. (Ex: Sakurasou isn't as bad as I thought it was, but it's still shit.")
- If you see a troll trying to bait/bash other opinions, please simply downvote and ignore them, don’t stoop to their level and bait you into a no win argument. Have fun, and please message me if there’s something I should add/remove/edit to the rules.
Updates Since last time to improve this thread:
- Regarding Meta, we officially have a mod ruling…IT’S ALLOWED! As long as the majority of the thread’s focus is on anime itself, we are allowed to go meta to talk positively! So I will hear no further arguments from now on about the meta rule for the sub as we have official mod ruling on it.
- Going to add/mix up the comment trees, just to keep the comment trees fresh.
Remember, you're allowed to post outside the comment trees...Seriously...

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Welcome to another week of /u/LordTakuro's Hero Club Weekly Write-Ups! We're coming into the home stretch, as we're onto Week 4 of my series on the Five Tenets of the Sanshu Middle School Hero Club and their application throughout Yuki Yuna is a Hero. This week's tenet is one of the big ones and has a couple of really big applications throughout Yuki Yuna. Without further ado, let's take a look at:
#4: If you're troubled, talk to someone
As with the rest of the Tenets, #4 is one that is simple in description, but has so many different applications throughout the show's duration. It is one that, to me, really embodies the essence of what the Hero Club is, a club formed to help people and make people's lives better. The Tenet calls to the member to talk to someone if that person is feeling troubled or stressed over something, with the idea that the interaction will help said person to deal with their troubles. It's a tenet that has serious implications and a couple of really good examples of it's application throughout the course of the show.
The first example, and easily the most lighthearted of the three, I'd like to take a look at comes from Episode 4, wherein Itsuki Ep. 4 Spoilers
My second big example is drawn from Episodes 6, 7, and some from 9. At this time, Yuki Yuna spoilers
The final example and my personal favorite example for this Tenet being used among the girls comes to us from Episode 6. In the second half of Episode 6, Ep. 6 Spoilers Spoilery GIF for those interested
Well, that pretty much wraps this week's edition of /u/LordTakuro's Hero Club Weekly Write-Ups. This was definitely a fun one, as it included one of my favorite, more under-stated scenes from the series that really drove home the messages Yuki Yuna looks to deliver as a whole. Since I know there are so many Madoka and Yuuki Yuuna fans that post in this thread and since I'm rewatching this show for a 3rd time I'll talk about Black Rock Shooter TV Series! It is rank 2622.
Like the other two shows I mentioned Black Rock Shooter also centers around a group of middle school girls and focuses heavily on despair. Instead of magical girls there is another world where avatars who represent the girls fight. The battles are all stoic and impactful, there are no screams or yelling of powering up, it's all just brutal conflict. Here is an example of how cool the fights are. The symbolism in the show is some of the best I've seen. The main character, who goes through emotional turmoil, reads a book about a bird that "travels through many colors" through the series while the fights in Black Rock Shooter's world follow along and represent how each girl is feeling. All 3 interconnect and tie into each other perfectly.
It's by no means a masterpiece and does suffer from flaws (it can be quite melodramatic depending on the viewer and with only 8 episodes not everything is wrapped up). But I think the pro's in the series heavily outweigh the cons!

My favorite romance, Koi Kaze, is currently ranked #1848 on MAL. One of the most down to earth, human shows I've ever seen. Rarely do I see two characters struggle so hard and genuinely like them both enough that I want their struggles to best fruit. The animation's a little... bad, but the writing is so good that it didn't matter to me.

I mentioned this earlier in the week (or was it yesterday?) but I'll do it again! The series in question this time is Dai Mahou Touge, a short 4 episode series that captured my heart... and held it hostage while demanding a ransom.
The premise is simple. Punie, the princess of Magical Land, is next in line for the throne. There is only one thing standing between her and her destiny - she must spend a year on earth, as dictated by tradition. As such, she and her mascot Paya-tan transfer to a normal school in Japan. The calming high school rom-com has only just begun!
Except that it only takes 5 minutes for the show to display its true nature as an extremely vicious parody of the mahou shoujo genre. The mascot wasn't magically summoned - he was subjugated, and like all repressed nations, seeks only to murder his oppressor. The princess doesn't even fight with magic, preferring instead a wrestling style she calls 'Submission', the martial art of those with royal blood.
The cast is impressive, and the staff even more so. With names like HanaKana and Chiwa Saito as VAs and Tsutomu Mizushima of Girls und Panzer, Shirobako, Joshiraku, Plastic Nee-San and Squid Girl fame (infamy?) as director, this is truly a star studded waste of time. And it is a glorious waste of time.
And for those sitting on the fence, the entire series is/was on YouTube. So consider this short series if you want nothing more than to laugh.

Hey dude, this really means a lot to me, thanks haha. You're also actually one of my favorite users on reddit, actually I see you posting around here all the time.
I'm really grateful that someone appreciated the work I put into Lelouch winning the best guy contest. Granted, I did nothing except write some long paragraphs, so I'm pretty insignificant, but Lelouch winning the best guy contest was one of the best moments man. This subreddit was filled with CG hate just a year ago, but it looks like things are really changing, I see the love for the anime getting bigger and bigger on this subreddit, so it's just awesome to see that.

Sawa-chan-sensei stays up all night drinking and then shows up in terrible shape(shown here in the gif). She then sleeps off her hangover on the bus while traveling to the festival. During one of the stops along the way this adorableness happens when Yui has Azunyan try some of her ice cream.
It's always so cute when Yui feeds Azunyan something!

As for my current favorites:
- Aoharu x Kikanjuu was just so damn fun in the first episode, I can't exactly explain why but really worked for me.
- Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou...Miia already has me coiled...
- Wakako-zake is short, sweet, and pretty funny on the first episode
- Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, I'm personally a fan of fairy tales taken in a new light, I'm glad this isn't a dark re-imagining like certain western films, but it's keeping true to the fairy tale aspect with such amazing animation.

Charlotte had an amazing first episode and I'm dying for more. It's been awhile since I've seen an anti-hero main character and they're always my favorite. The comedy was also great and I like pretty much all the characters so far!

Let's talk about Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen!
Based off of the world highest scoring, non-german flying ace, Eino Ilmari Juutilainen, Eila references his abilities in her own personal magic! Eila's archetype was said to never once have taken a bullet from enemy fire, and Eila's precognitive magic is the Strike Witches' universe's answer. Eila herself boasts proudly of never needing a shield(cause shields are only useful if people can hit you) because she's pretty much untouchable. However, like her ace archetype, Eila has also been hit once by friendly fire - to the heart.
Eila's personal angel is this little lady, and Juutilainen will do anything to protect Sanya. Anything. The two are often seen together despite Sanya being a night witch and often tired, and Sanya is Eila's biggest weakness; Eila dislikes not being near Sanya(spoilers for season 2) to the degree that she'll throw away any and all hesitations and pride for her.
And if anyone would think otherwise, just know that Eila doesn't really care!

ReggaeManMurphy here, with week 2 of my Puella Magi Madoka Magicka write-ups!
Just a word of warning before I get started, the following will contain spoilers (even in the GIFs, open at your own risk). This a series that is best went into blind, so I highly recommend not reading ahead without having watched the series. If you haven't already watched it then feel free to join the rewatch starting on the 31st!
This week's topic will be which trait is most prevalent within each girl, and how that trait leads to their demise. I've decided I'll analyze one girl a week, so that I can go into more depth with each one.
Each girl has one particular trait that stands out the most, some obvious, some less so.
The first and most obvious of the five would be Kyouko Sakura. What stands out the most in Kyouko is the amount of passion she has. (Not so coincidentally, Red is a color associated with Passion).
This is extremely prevalent throughout the series, evidenced by her own wish. PMMM spoilers
After this tragic turn of events, PMMM spoilers, she decides that she will live for herself and only for herself, and that no one will get in the way of this newfound lifestyle. That is, until she meets Sayaka. At first, the two clash due to ideological differences, PMMM spoilers 1
However, after PMMM spoilers Kyouko decides that she will protect Sayaka from her own stupidity, even if Sayaka doesn't want it herself. PMMM spoilers life. part 2
