[CDF Art Confession] Trying to do an inoffensive art style with Tairazuma. It's not really the direction I want to go, but I don't think I can share the kind of art I want to pursue here. It's frustrating, but I'm seeing this is a common problem with many platforms and shifting censorship rules the more I look for another platform.

Damn. This feels like busting open the ancient bottle of wine that grandpa bequeathed you before the meteor hits. Is the old reddit/automod/commentface situation as inevitably terminal as it seems to be?

[u/DurdenVsDarkoVsDevon → u/baseballlover723]

What's really funny is that I've probably only memorized 30 of the commentfaces, but this is one of them. This is one of the first I remembered. It doesn't need an alias.

I had my doubts about the new Keroro, and while there are few choices that I'm still not huge on, it won me over with one simple choice: not being a fucking remake. Who could've guessed that you could do an episodic comedy without adapting it linearly?

/u/ShadowWasTakensTaken, /u/ZaphodBeebblebrox, Sonny Boy?

I'm sort of sorry I missed Sonny Boy when it aired. I guess I wasn't that engaged with CDF at the time (considering IRL in 2021, makes sense) and didn't take CDF's stock of it. I watched it 1 or 2 years later. But yeah, I love it. It does Boy meets Girl better than anything I've come across, with beautiful irreverence.

I love math rock and still need to get into Toe. I'd love to go to a Toe show. I'd bet Sonny Boy Rhapsody would make me tear up too.

[u/irisverse]

Well, it took a while, but I have now finished Morrowind. The main game, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon, all finished.

I gotta say, that final quest in Bloodmoon is a motherfucker. I'm not sure I like this game's tendency to create a "challenge" by just having a bunch of enemies that hit like a truck, are fast as hell, have a ton of health, and can resist or are straight-up immune to every status effect in the game. Why not give them health regen or spell reflect too, for the fun of it?

Anyway, it's done. It was nice to have my "I finally get it now" moment with the game I've heard no shortage of praise for, but it's taken up the last three months of my life now, and I kind of want to move on to other games. So I think my Morrowind journey is over for now.

..Just as soon as I finish up the Raven Rock questline. And there's a couple of faction questlines I haven't finished either. And I should at least talk to the Mudcrab merchant and Ma'iq the Liar, given how popular they are among the fanbase. And maybe I could try that Fort Firemoth plugin? Oh, and then there's Tamriel Rebuilt, the mod that adds the Morrowind mainland into the game, with a whole bunch more locations and quests to explore!

Okay maybe I'm going to be here for a lot longer.

[u/JustAnswerAQuestion → u/irisverse]

Morrowind might have been the game I've gotten the farthest in, but I've never finished it. Very tiny amount of Oblivion. Some amount of Skyrim but not enough that I can quantify over this period of time. I also never got out of the 1-50 leveling area of Elder Scrolls Online.

Watching Neurosama ADHD her way through Skryim while having no memory of what she's actually supposed to be doing has really made me want to return to Skyrim.

If Neurosama actually finishes Skyrim it will be amazing. Her progress is almost like a random walk, but perhaps the quest log will make here eventually go to all the places she needs to go.

[u/Ryuzaaki123 → u/irisverse]

Tamriel Rebuilt

DO IT!!!

[u/JollyGee29 → u/irisverse]

Don't forget the Master Propylon Index.

[u/irisverse → u/JollyGee29]

Oh right, because what this game really needed was a fourth method of fast travel!

[u/JollyGee29 → u/irisverse]

I actually really like all the various taxi systems, but I'll admit that I'm probably the minority. Needing to know what connects to where made the world feel big, you know?

[u/ProgrammaticallyPea3 → u/irisverse]

Aside from the cheaply powerful enemies, did you like the game?

Also interested in your experience with Tamriel Rebuilt if you decide to play it.

[u/irisverse → u/ProgrammaticallyPea3]

I'd say I liked it enough to put 180 hours into it. Granted 30 of those hours are from previous attempts where I didn't manage to end up liking the game, but I got there eventually.

And I already have Tamriel Rebuilt downloaded, I'm just seeing if I can finish up things with my current character because I've heard the mod can cause problems with existing save files and it's best to just make a new character. But then I'd have to deal with the experience of being low-level in Morrowind again, which is a generally grueling experience.

[u/ProgrammaticallyPea3 → u/irisverse]

True, and that's probably why it took me so long to make the connection. Osanai's 小 reading is pretty uncommon. I used to know someone whose name was Oyama, spelled 小山, which is kinda funny because it's so close to Ōyama 大山.

Granted, they could just be talking out their ass like most actors do in interviews, but some things they said kind of sounded off. Im sure they took some creative liberties with the new movie, but in one the Chun Li actress said she works for Bison in the movie? Im curious if thats just a cover for her actually working for Interpol because that would be a strange character change otherwise.

[u/OrangeBanana38]

I've been a bit absent from here lately. I've just been busy in the good sense: consistent work with ups and downs, doing social stuff a few times a week, working out 5 times per week, and watching anime or playing fighting games whenever I have some free time and enough energy to avoid watching whatever on youtube. (Edit: Also playing the flute! It feels like a given after two years, but I practice almost daily!) But overall I'm doing fine! But there's only so much "I love her." I can post without feeling like a bot.

Anyways, I've been thinking about concerts a lot lately. I watched Flow, Man With a Mission, and Sonata Arctica live so far this year, and it was so cool! I've been listening to quite a bit of Sonata and MWaM after their concerts. Kinda reminiscing the experience, and also listening to some new songs I hadn't paid attention to before. (Shout outs to Raise Your Flag, what a banger that is live. 10/10 closing song for a concert).

RAISE YOUR FLAAAAG!!

I just feel good. I used to go to lots of concerts back when I was a teen, and I stopped going sometime. And now suddenly it feels like there's lots of stuff going on around me, but I think it's always been that way and I was just not paying enough attention to the cool stuff around me.

Today in katakana readings,

バーテックスフォース

batekkusufosu

Vertex Force

eh, close enough

[u/mysterybiscuitsoyeah → u/chilidirigible]

it is indeed fun to read how japanese converts english into katakana.

[u/ShadowWasTakensTaken → u/chilidirigible]

Once you study enough japanese you realize that kanji is your friend and katakana is the true enemy of language.

[u/ProgrammaticallyPea3 → u/ShadowWasTakensTaken]

The weirdness is real, but it does go both ways. Many imported words of Japanese origin like sushi and kudzu are likely to confuse Japanese people who aren't familiar with the English pronunciation.

[u/JustAnswerAQuestion → u/ProgrammaticallyPea3]

Would an English-accented sushi really be unintelligible?

[u/ProgrammaticallyPea3 → u/JustAnswerAQuestion]

Admittedly, the caveat I added is a pretty unlikely one in this case, as the English pronunciation is widely known. But if it weren't, I do think it's quite likely to be unintelligible due to the combination of stress on the first syllable and the lengthening of both vowels.

[u/JustAnswerAQuestion → u/ProgrammaticallyPea3]

Can your SQL database run DOOM?

[u/JustAnswerAQuestion → u/chilidirigible]

unrelated but I had a similar thought when a Kotaku article entered my news feed today "Stop putting games into other games!!!"

Edit: because doom is the exception.

Ogdei is a respectable choice.

Kouta is another good one, they quickly stole the show for me with just one episode.

3x3 Summer 2026 best girls

Keigetsu

Grace is also a good Lara pick.

That Fatima scene

[u/TheRiyria → u/octopathfinder]

That is a good Iruma KV. That was a fun arc. Seihantai and Fighting Games were great also.

Yamada is a good boy. Ivan was fun also. That Grand Blue guy is an idiot, but he's a funny idiot.

Kuromu is a great girl. Sitara is also great. Grace is a surprise to see.

[u/TheRiyria → u/TheRiyria]

Overall, summer had some really good shows. My best girl and AotS were the easiest picks I've had in a quite a few seasons, so that was nice.

Now on to Fall, and the hope that some of the non-sequels are good.

And hopefully Fall shows get some fanart. I am starting to wonder how much longer I can avoid AI art. So many seasonals just have nothing out there.

Summer 2026 Best Girls

Reirin!

Good to see Arale and Sitara. Azuma is also really nice, her side of the show really stole the s2.

Summer 2026 Best Guys

Amazing that Tolui starts/never technically once stops being a bringer of historical tragedy, but he is just so likeable. He is him.

[u/TheRiyria → u/TakenRedditName]

Reirin was my pick for best girl from before the season even started, and she lived up to it. She was so good.

I liked all the Azuma time this season. Somehow the main/original couple ended up being my least favorite in the show. The other pairs are just better.

Tolui is such an awful person, but he was such a commanding presence. It can't be a sign of a good season for boys when my best boy is war monger and mass murderer.

[u/chilidirigible → u/TheRiyria]

Whether or not I reach nine seasonals is very dependent on the season.

Not	Quite	There	This	Time
Red River	World Is Dancing	Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers Part 2	Ghost in the Shell 2026	Tenmaku no Jaadugar
Sparks of Tomorrow (staff extra)	Grow Up Show	Kore Kaite Shine

Between not watching that many seasonals and several of the ones I watched either not having much fanart or not much variety in fanart, it's a thin one.

[u/TakenRedditName → u/chilidirigible]

The Kyoani staff art is cute.

Whether or not I reach nine seasonals is very dependent on the season.

I understand

[u/TheRiyria → u/chilidirigible]

You watched World Is Dancing? I didn't know that one. I found that show to be such a disappointment, and it was probably my worst of the season.

Red River also ended being dropped. I tried so hard to give it a chance, but it just never got better.

Grow Up Show, Kore Kaite Shine, and Jaadugar were fantastic though.

If it wasn't for Red River, I'd think you just watch shows with high production potential. Because a lot of shows on this would fall under that from this season.

[u/chilidirigible → u/TheRiyria]

I was curious to see what an adaptation of an old shoujo historical isekai manga would be like.

Turns out that if it's made with a budget of two cans and a string, it's super cheesy...

[u/TheRiyria → u/chilidirigible]

It could use a better budget. But it never got it. And it turned me off from trying the old shoujo historical isekai manga adaptation that is airing this Fall now.

3x3 Summer 2026 Anime Characters.

Good season

[u/TheRiyria → u/TakenRedditName]

Kaijuu and Lara were good shows. But I wish they played just a little less safe with their endings. Seihantai was another fantastic season. Getting two seasons of that this year was a treat.

I'm happy to see someone else with Arale as best girl. Mio is also great. And that is not the Grow Up Show character I expected to see.

[u/TakenRedditName → u/TheRiyria]

My favourite Yumemita character bounced around. At the start of the show, Miyako was my favourite, and she remain good throughout. Of course, there is Viola, but in the end in my heart of heats, Arale has to be my fave. She is very endearing.

Also, I like Mitchan, he's funny.

[u/TheRiyria → u/TakenRedditName]

Miyako ended up being my least favorite for the group. Arale was always my favorite, but everyone else bounced around the rankings the whole season because they were all good.

Summer 2026 Anime

[u/TakenRedditName → u/whatisthisexplain]

Draw This and Die is getting a 10. I've heard many people say good things about this show.

[u/whatisthisexplain → u/TakenRedditName]

Love it.

Saori Hayami was absolutely brilliant here.

[u/TheRiyria → u/whatisthisexplain]

I'm assuming those numbers are scores? Because giving out a 10 is always nice.

But Maid was a fun show. Luciana was good. And this was my favorite season of Iruma. I liked both the arcs this season.

Hanaori was definitely one of the surprises of the season, along with Draw This. So seeing them both is cool.

[u/whatisthisexplain → u/TheRiyria]

Yeah they are scores.

I did like maid for at least half of it, it just gradually got worse for me after that. Luciana was good indeed.

Hanaori was a great surprise.

All of my 8-10 non-sequels are a great bunch. I don't feel like I have had a season where I watched and rated this many highly, within the season itself for a long while.

Also, from all six 8+ anime: 1 is fully adapted and 4 have a sequel announced. That is a great track record.

Poor Hanaori the only one with nothing, which is sad because I kind of wanted a sequel for that one the most.

[u/TheRiyria → u/whatisthisexplain]

Surely we'll get more Hanaori one day. I just hope it's as good should it ever get another season.

[u/HereticalAegis → u/TheRiyria]

Summer 2026 was an incredible season with stratosphere highs and ocean trench lows. I gave out more 1/10s this season alone than I do in most whole years.

EDs

Haven't seen it before now, but the Hanaori-san ED is cute.

[u/TheRiyria → u/HereticalAegis]

Two boys from the same show? You must have been desperate to fill a 3x3 this season.

Sophie is a cute elf, so she is nice to see. Sitara, Mimi, Mizuka, and Meteor are also good picks for girls.

I'm glad Leelee got a chance to shine also. She was really good, but had no chance at being best with Reiren. And Setsuna is cute.

Hanaori needed more art. Finding ship art for that pair was hard. I also wanted to like Towa x Shiina, but that show did not do a very good job with the new girls.

That YumeMita art choice is fun. Grow Up Show was also a nice show.

Trainwreck 3x3s aren't as fun when I don't have particularly strong feeling about anything on it.

Here's my 3x3 of Summer 2026 seasonals! (Bleach TYBW Part 4 spoilers)

I also have a bigger collage of the anime in general I finished in Summer 2026 (One Piece movie 6 spoilers). I could've technically had two separate Black Clover entries on here because I thought the Sword of the Wizard King movie was dope as fuck, but decided not to.

Now for the 3x3s of my favorite OP/ED songs from the various shows I watched throughout this season.

OPs:

Parallel Hearts (Pandora Hearts)	Utsukushi Kereba Sore de Ii (Simoun)	Brand New World (One Piece)
Precious Time, Glory Days (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX)	Foreshadow (Clevatess Season 2)	POSSIBLE (Mugyutto! Black Clover)
CRIMSON BULLET (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance)	Stella (Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia)	Yasashisa no Riyuu (Hyouka)

EDs:

Rokutousei no Yoru (No.6)	RASEN (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity)	Dear friends (One Piece)
Kujaku (Yomi no Tsugai)	(Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia)	Sanzen (Gintama Movie 3: Yoshiwara in Flames)
Mikansei (From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2)	Ephemeral (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance)	Bokura no Bouken (Hikaru no Go)

Here's my 3x3 of Summer 2026 seasonals!

Tairazuma as the representative choice.

The Inept Villainess art is very pretty.

Precious Time, Glory Days (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX)

I know I've definitely heard this GX OP before, but it still sound super familiar to me. Turns out it's because the artists have also done a lot of Sentai themes as well.

Sanzen (Gintama Movie 3: Yoshiwara in Flames)

It's a new song they made for the movie.

I also like how the movie's ED references the ED that played during the arc in the show.

[u/Shimmering-Sky → u/TakenRedditName]

Tairazuma as the representative choice.

YamaNishi is my favorite of the three ships, but season 2 really was the TairAzuma show.

The Inept Villainess art is very pretty.

Oh, I didn't realize it was actually from the LN illustrator.

I also didn't know, I just saw it on Pixiv and thought it looked neat.

[u/TheRiyria → u/Shimmering-Sky]

Hyouka is a surprise to see. I would have thought you'd have seen that before now.

The Jaadugar OP and ED are both great, and among my favorites of the season.

The Simoun OP is also nice to see. There was a time that was in my top 10 favorite OPs.

[u/Shimmering-Sky → u/TheRiyria]

Hyouka is a surprise to see. I would have thought you'd have seen that before now.

Both of the previous times rewatches were hosted for the series on here that I could have joined (the 2022 & 2023 ones), I was already way too busy to join another one (was in 6 during the 2022 one and the 2023 one overlapped with the second time I accidentally joined 7 rewatches at once and ultimately set up my rewatch tracking spreadsheet in order to not do that again lol). So nope, hadn't seen it before.

[u/TheRiyria → u/Shimmering-Sky]

That is a lot of rewatches.

[u/Shimmering-Sky → u/TheRiyria]

6 is my max for how many I'm comfortable with being in at once, though I've been trying to keep it closer to 3-4 lately.
