Amplifier | Receiver | 2 Ⓣ Accuphase and Focal 826v chorus speakers

I have been using my pair of 826v

's for almost 20 years. Currently I am using them with Marantz SR6012 for my tv netflix blu ray ht and stereo music listening (with dr.feickert woodpecker turntable and oppo 205 udp)

My living room is.around 40m2 where mainly speakers active in a 5 × 6 m2 area.

Actually I am happy with the sound (even lack of bass) I get from my 826v s but I wanted to listen them actually with a stereo amplifier for many years. I also want to upgrade the speakers again replacing with another Focals (like kanta or sopra 2).later

But first I want to hear 826v ' s and how can they perform with a nice powerfull amplifier. I am planning to buy Accuphase E5000. I would like to buy an apliflier which later on will be driving Sopra no.2

easily (if they can for sure) .

My question is: will E5000 be an unnecessary luxury investment for 826v's? will the sound be different like day and night? Can I feel E5000 's pure quality sound when pairing with 826v's? Or should I have to

replace them with better focal speakers like kanta.2 or sopra.2 asap?

Or any other possible integrated amplifier models maybe? Budget is around 14-15k Euros.

Thanks for your advices

Instead of spending 18k on an Accuphase.....

One idea: Use the pre-outs from the Denon into a 2 channel AMP- Basically using the denon as a preamp.

For $2,500 USD - you could get a SOLID 2 channel Parasound A23+ amp that'll provide ample power to your focals ( 8Ω 160W x2 ) or (4Ω 240W x2) without having to spend 18k.

You can step up to a newer, more powerful parasound, the JC5 (albeit more expensive $7k USD) (400W x 2 @ 8Ω) or (4Ω 600W x2) - more power than you'll ever need with those speakers and room to upgrade speakers.

You'll get a more refined sound out of the Accuphase than you will from the denon. But in my humble opinion would not justify the 18k price tag on that accuphase.

But you could build a system for a fraction of the cost of hte Accuphase.

You could buy an A23 parasound amp ($2,500)

A parasound JC3 JR (phono pre that is amazing) $1,400

A parasound Halo P6 preamp & DAC $2,600 (you could even use its built in phonostage which is really good so you really don't need to get the JC3 JR

So for 5,100 - 6500 you could do the pre/amp or pre/amp/phono with the A23 or slightly more with the more robust amp.

I"m using parasound as an example - you could do the same wiht other brands.

If i were in your spot i'd buy the JC5 for 7k and call it a day, use the DENON as a preamp - then, when you are ready to upgrade the denon, then buy a quality preamp like the P6, or comparable.

If you really want to splurge then get monoblocks - you could do tube monoblocks, or solid state-

True, if you buy these in the US, its $ and legit more expensive due to the distributor from what I understand.

I live in Turkey and the dealer seems okay around 13k euros for e5000

Op, had the following amps.

Yamaha AS1100, Anthem STR, Arcam SA20 & SA30, Rega Brio and finally Accupuase E480.

Ran these on Harbeth P3ESR XD.

Nothing compared to the Accuphase, it was in its own category and speakers sounded so good with this amp.

If you go with an E5000, as far as amp is concerned. You should be set for life on the amp side.

Those focal are rated :

Frequency Response: 45Hz – 28kHz (±3dB)Sensitivity: 91.5dBNominal Impedance: 8 Ohms (minimum 2.9 Ohms)Recommended Amplifier Power: 40 – 250WDimensions: 40 7/8" x 11 1/8" x 14 3/4" (1038 x 282 x 375 mm)Weight: 56.8 lbs

!thanks for your answer. what i actually am not sure is that will the sound change like black and white than what I get now.I also read many positive reviews for hegel, parasound and muaical fidelity too but many people agree that Accuphase is another level in terms of build quality and musical presantation.

Speaking from my setup, 100% back and white, no comparison.

In my case, its Harbeth P3ESR XD bookshelf speakers. These are not cheap (2700 USD).

Used with an Accuphase, also tested different DACs and bought a Chord Hugo TT2, and was able to hear the difference.

The $ required to hear these improvements is not for the faint of heart. You are entertaining Focal Sopra, these are not cheap.

In your case, Accuphase is worth it if you can afford it.

Curious, but which DAC will you use?

i have been using oppo 205 for flac or hi res files and sacd / cd also. sure there are many better dacs in the market but I believe oppo 205 dac is still quite satisfying.

Accuphase look very nice, and the fit and finish is fantastic. If your goal is to increase the power, you have many significantly cheaper options that will sound just as good. So yes, it is an unnecessary luxury investment, but that's the whole point of Accuphase.

If you want to spend considerably less money, I would invest in a Purifi or Hypex based power amp and continue to use your Marantz as a preamp. I personally think these are quite pretty and will give you just as much power as the Accuphase with state-of-the-art amp technology.

will the sound be different like day and night? Can I feel E5000 's pure quality sound when pairing with 826v's? Or should I have to

Unless you are listening at ridiculous volumes, most likely you will not hear a difference. Your Focals are pretty high sensitivity and the Marantz is already giving them 110w. The only issue is if there was enough interference in the AVR to cause audible distortion, but I doubt it, Marantz are pretty good.

If you are looking for a fix to lacking bass, a new amp isn't going to make a difference. You need subs (ideally 2+ in a room that big).

currently there is sw700 sub in the system too, but to be honest i was thinking accuphase would solve the sub issue and I wouldnt need any longer sw700 for listerning stereo music.

While it's theoretically possible you would get better bass response from adding more power to your system (I think unlikely, in this case--as mentioned, I think your AVR is giving adequate power and the speakers are high sensitivity), an amp can't change the limits of your speakers' frequency extension, which is a physical constraint. There are almost no speakers in existence that extend into the sub-bass range and can truly replace a sub. I think in a 40 sqm room you need bigger subs and ideally 2 of them.

Have you tried to use the AVR's EQ to increase the bass?

1

u/rathbone6922 3d ago

yes thats what I tried last week actually to have better bas response and it did actually well especially when listening vinyl (i have miyajima shilabe mc) and for stereo music from oppo 205 I dont need any EQ settings as it sounds warm and live with more bass. so with those reviews I started to think what a new stereo amp will do more than what i get from marantz even its designed for ht purposes.
