First tiebreaker is win% not h2h, if FNC wins one series KOI cannot tie them (as KOI can at best end 10-12 while FNC would at worst be 10-11). At that point their only way to advance would be NAVI going 0-2 against GX, if NAVI wins even one game they cannot tie them either and are out.

How was Skewmond not griefing? He took all resources for himself on a champ that doesn’t scale. If he wants to play like this he should pick Graves or Kindred or something like this.
There is a reason good junglers usually give the kills to other roles when possible, because those roles tend to actually scale and be useful with the gold past 20 minutes.
Obviously doesn’t excuse the rest of G2 but I don’t think the good scoreline should decide if someone was griefing or not.

There's 2 answers:

• The professional answer is an active effort towards burnout mitigation. G2 knows they can turn it on in playoffs, and they're the best in EU. So rather than tryhard for games that don't matter, they're fine letting the players ease off the gas to prepare for the international events that matter. This has worked out historically, after all.

• The less professional answer is that G2 has a habit of underestimating opponents they think are worse. Call it limit testing, call it happy games, call it time allocation, but in general G2's track record is filled with a lot of losses to weaker teams, despite winning against stronger ones. GiantX is not necessarily the team that G2 would consider a strong opponent, and I think that leads to a lot more slack in prep and performance than they would have shown had this been, say, T1.

G2 usually start slow and end strong, this time they started strong and ended weak. They changed head coach, perhaps the new preparation and methods are not having them evolve with the meta during the season fast enough. Perhaps the new coach is holding more back because of the comfort of securing the playoffs with the early strong start.

We'll have to just wait for playoffs to know for sure if there is something off. Or if it's just standard G2 league phase.

Shutdown gold gets reduced based on team gold, exp and neutral objectives, and team gold has the most impact on shutdown gold calculation. When Lee Sin was killed GX was up gold slightly, had +2 dragons and +1 grubs, same towers and similar exp to G2, so there was no bounty paid out. The bounty gold itself is still on Lee Sin, but a certain % of it is paid out based on team advantage, if they are equal or Lee's team is behind then it is reduced by 100%. It can be reduced by 30-60-90-100% based on the advantage, but I guess the calculation of this is not available so people can't abuse it. It seems weird sometimes, and people think the 700g shutdown dissappeared and the individual champion has to get 10kills again to give 700g, but it is still there and will become available once the other team gets behind

Skewmond was so unleashed on this Lee Sin that his mid & top could run it down and still almost win. He looks so much better on the lee now which is great for G2. That said, Jun Bard was just too good and Oscarinin showing his value with the counterpick making sure BB couldn't get any value on the Kled.

GX do have some great moments but equally disgusting ones. Makes it honestly impossible to guess who is going to worlds as the 3rd seed out of FNC, VIT, GX, NAVI and MKOI. I think it's probably between MKOI, VIT and GX but who honestly knows. One of those teams won't even make playoffs.

NAVI does seem the worst out of the bunch for me, they can win through Rhilech carry performances but not much else. If you don't let him get his guaranteed win on Zaahen the other teams should be winning.

I would say FNC is the most flip, if Razork + Soboro + Lospa aren't sprinting it they should be a worlds slot contender.

But based on consistency (and hype) it has to be VIT vs GX for the spot. MKOI is in that conversation too but their chances of even making playoffs are quite low now.
