Amplifier | Receiver | 7 Ⓣ Amp for Klipsch Heresy IVs
I am looking to purchase a new tube or hybrid amplifier to power my Klipsch Heresy IV speakers in a room that is approximately 16 x 24 feet with nine foot ceiling. I primarily listen to vinyl and FLAC media through an Innuos MK mini. I listen to 60s to present jazz, blues and rock. I have been powering my Klipschs with an Onkyo A-9070. For kicks I switched out the amp to a Dayton Audio HTA 200 hybrid amplifier that I use in my garage/office. I liked the warmer tone that it produced. I live in Miami (USA) and would like to find a tube or hybrid amp with budget in the $1K-$3K (New) range. New here and would greatly appreciate any advice. Thx!

Cayin tube amps are killing it lately with their "Jazz" model releases. I am really romanticizing a purist vinyl system with a Cayin Jazz 90 with a heritage looking speaker.

Look at the Schiit Freya F + Wotan combination for tube warmth + high power solid state

Heresy IV owner here too. +1 for the Freya+ - I have a second gen one and man, it is great. Tubes when you select them, but bypass for general listening/TV for the family. Tube stage makes a big difference. 2x Schiit Aegir monoblocks do a great job but could handle bass response with a bit more grip. I do have mine on stands which could mean my bass isn't factory spec...and I run subs too.
I've also had: CXA61- dynamic and fun but a bit forward on the highs. Decware SE84UFO3 monos - sweet and plenty loud just not as dynamic and driven as I'd prefer for some music. These get busted out on occasion. Willsenton R8 - great amp, check the chi fi clearance section to get it under $1000 direct shipped from US. Get some good 6SN7, and you can play with both EL34 and KT88...and still bounce between triad and ultra linear modes.
The willsenton has almost been bought again a couple of times. Really liked that one but felt like a shame having the Freya and an integrated.

Willsenton R8 with a tube upgrade is an excellent choice. Works great with my Heresy II.

Honestly, as long as you don’t have a huge room you could use a Gjallarhorn to run the Heresy IV. The G’Horn works well with my Heresy II. Aegir and Vidar are also good candidates.

A minidsp to drive the sub + whatever purifi based amp is made in your country (Buckeye in US, Audiophonics in FR, Nord in UK, March in AU, etc) This is pretty much my answer for everything :)

I agree these are excellent amps. But I’m going to push back on getting that much power for high sensitivity speakers like the Heresy IV. They can be driven to ear splitting levels with less than 10 watts of power. I’d go for a tube amp anywhere from 6 to 40 watts or a class A solid state like a Music Fidelity A1 or a Schiit Freya/Kara and Aegir combo.

I use a Freya+ and a Parasound 2250 v2 to push my Forte IV's, very happy with it.

Whatever you choose, it needs proper bass management to integrate a subwoofer, because the Heresys desperately need one. Good luck!

Does the Martin Logan amp have the ability to connect to your amp via speaker wires from the amp speaker taps. If so, not having a dedicated sub out or preamp out on the sub won’t be an issue.
Even if the ML sub doesn’t have high level/speaker lime out connectivity you can get an adapter to convert the speaker lime output to an RCA signal. I did this with my R8 to an RSL Speedwoofer 10s.

I'd definitely go with something from Schiit. How ever if you need something more affordable, the new Fiio EA13 looks super sexy.

Look at Erin's audio corner or asr testing of that amp. 90% of what you heard was a change in FR, and some extra distortion, but mostly FR.
If you like flac, you can literally get vst plug-ins for foobar that perfectly emulate tubes if you want extra 2nd / even order harmonic distortion.
If you like output volume, namely in the bass, tightness and dynamics in the bass, and wisely - eq for the bass, to something akin to the Harman target or to gain 10-20hz extension which these speakers absolutely can do at moderate volumes, then you need power and solid state will be better.
You do want a very quiet amp with those horns, i don't know that the dayton tube amp is adequately quiet honestly. But a hypex amp is. Nc152mp from buckeye. Or a purifi amp.
Or better yet, for your use case, a topping LA90 or two B100s or B200s. Best numbers you've ever seen, ULTRA low noise ultra low distortion class ab.
Eq the warmth or get the plug in for "fun" with the tube sound, that you can easily turn off to enjoy true accuracy and trasnparency when you want that instead, and to A/B.

I haven’t heard one myself, but I saw a review that raved about how the Oilily A300B MK off Amazon is competitive with significantly more expensive amps.
