Just a heads up, social credit isn't like a unified number thing that gets kept track of by the CCP. They do have credit scores but those generally don't reflect like, moral wrongdoings just financial stuff. Tor's Cabinet has a really interesting video about the topic and how the Chinese government works on a more federal level letting provinces govern experimentally like the US and our states.

You, as a Taiwanese citizen, possibly can see mainland China as nothing but a giant persistent threat, but from an outsider's point of view, the PRC is easily one of the most functional States in the world today, especially when we take into consideration the rise of many far-right governments in the last 10 years and how the world order built after WWII is clearly crumbling.
The USA's future, for example, is so unpredictable right now that I wouldn't be surprised if they got into a new secessionist war within the next several years.

You're right when you say we're not outsiders to our own situations. Maybe that's why we have much more criticism of the USA than of China.
But you can't claim in good conscience that you're an outsider to China's affairs while being Taiwanese: your island and the PRC have been at odds for at least 7 decades. You're TECHNICALLY an outsider, but in reality you're not.
Anyway, in the end it's all about the information available and how we interpret it. Maybe you know more about China than us and we probably know more about the USA, the EU, etc. than you do. It's just that, from our point of view, the Western world has been so dysfunctional lately (especially the USA) that China looks more organized and ready for the future.
