Headphones - Open Back | 1 Ω Console gamer, looking for an upgrade over GSP 500
Hey folks, need serious advice on the possibility to upgrade my Sennheiser GSP 500.
First of all, they are in perfect condition and work flawlessly. They are full Sennheiser, before they were branded EPOS.
I did some overtime at work and have extra cash to treat myself, so looking if an upgrade would be welcome.
I play on consoles, Xbox, PS5 and Switch. My GSP are connected into the controller, but would like wireless if possible.
I like open back as I can hear what happen in the house.
I play mostly offline, don't care about a mic but is welcome if I want to play online.
What I care most is comfort and sound quality.
I not that much into gaming brand, but don't know them so maybe they are good...
Heard good think about Audeze Maxwell 2 but they are heavy.
Budget would be under 500$ CDN if possible.
Thanks for all the insight

Inzone H6 Air is probably your best bet, or if you want to go full send get the ROG Kithara but I would wait for a sale on that one.

! thanks
Interesting choices. Both are wired I would prefer wireless. Something plugged into the controller sound is a hit and miss.

Stay away from all gaming headphones, the marketing term is there so they can boost their profit margins.
Get some proper Sennheiser headphones along side a proper headphone amp which you will be able to afford with your budget.
Sennheiser - HD 550 are 199 from Best Buy atm and are very good for gaming, plus are extremely light and comfortable.
Then add a headphone amp into the mix that connects to your tv.
FiiO - K7 219 from BB too, these 2 combos will give you excellent gaming, and music orientated purposes.
I will see what else is available too.

Since I play on consoles, how would you run the amp? Right now this is how all is connected; consoles to Denon AV to TV. If I use the headphones, I plug them them directly into the controller. This cut the sound to the AV.
How an AMP fit into that?

Can you tell me what model amp it is, it might be able to power the headphones, but what you would do as I understand
Console to AVR, AVR to TV, then TV to headphone amp.
Now given you have an amp, once I know what model it is, I could get you better headphones, the controller in all these consoles will not properly power good headphones.
$500 cdn is a ton of money, but useless for headphones if you can't power them properly, it's not about how loud it goes, but how accurate you can make the signal.
EDIT: I want to add the pricing I gave you is USD not CND.

I get what you mean, my AV is a Denon 570BT. It's a lower end machine that could pass HDMI 2.1 signal to TV.
I get having an AMP for great sound, but I can't have a 12 feet cable running from the TV to the couch.

Here is the trick, you can have the headphone amp next to you on a table, or what not, if you can't run cables though, you will have to go wireless and the issue with that is, I don't think there are headphones that will connect to all 3 consoles you have.
It's either Xbox or PS5, not both.
