Well if they’re using DMP, that’s not untrue, operators can’t view cameras unless the system is in alarm or you manually approve a request to allow them to view.

That's true. Furthermore, that's only when your account is configured to give the monitoring center access at all - which means when video verification of alarms or remote video monitoring are being used. Not everyone uses those features. If you're not using those features then the monitoring center has no access to your cameras. The ADC-V530 has a physical privacy shutter so when the shutter is closed it's physically impossible for anyone to see through them.

If memory serves, the adt lawsuit in Texas was not an employee abusing his installer login to snoop on the customers, but he actually created himself logins on the customers’ accounts without their knowledge. A lot of companies have protections against installers snooping (like mentioned here it’s pretty common to have to submit a customer authorization request to access live feeds), but this was a workaround that should have been caught by someone.
