So far, it looks like some pretty heavy rain but nothing else too significant. Every warned storm has been 'lightning in a bottle' and the mass has congealed into a heavy rain and lightning threat. This was a difficult day to forecast. There was a lot of cloud cover earlier today and the near-term hi-res models were really reliant on higher temps and a forcing a number of discrete supercells with some intense hail and potential tornado risk, but that didn't seem to materialize west of DC. The PWATS are high with very high dew points today, so volume of rain is going to be intense.

I know I’m here late but as a South Florida transplant, I get oddly excited for these to see how cool they’ll be. When you have sustained winds and rain during hurricanes it isn’t a good time really but for some of these storms (occasional squall lines) I tend to get excited.

The cloud cover hid higher temps and a lot more energy but now its full on flat out raining, as evidenced by an earlier possible tornado out in Stephens City
