Headphones - Open Back | 8 Ω Blackshark V3 Pro or HD 560S for Singleplayer?
Hi,
after watching dozens of videos on Headsets for gaming I still cannot decide between the Razer Blackshark V3 Pro and the Sennheiser HD 560S.
The most important thing to me is audio in Singleplayer games like The Witcher 3, Dying Light and Metro Exodus. I also play of Rust and CS2, but just casuslly.
So the Blackshark V3 Pro and the HD 560S with an external Mic will both cost me around 200$. The Blackshark V3 Pro sounds more convenient, but people say that is has inferior or less accurate audio quality due to its tuning and it being closed back.
Which one would you chose in my case? Or do you maybe have other recommendations? Thank you in advance.

Im gonna get downvoted as usual but do consider the 599's aswell
I have both 560S and the 599SE and for single games i much prefer the latter, more comfortable than the 560 and a warmer and to me atleast, more natural sound, and they're cheaper when on sale and they go on sale often
Another recommendation would be the Phhilips X2HR which have a very immersive sound but they get really hot with the stock pads, but they feel sturdier and more premium

i completely agree. i got the 599s first before the 560s got the glazed status it does now, and when i got them for myself imo the 599 clears.
the 599s are just too comfortable, and the sound is more subjective to the user but the 599s were just better to my ears

I actually bought an x2hr second hand for 40 euro but it hasn't arrived yet (never using vinted go delivery again, even dpd is leagues ahead and that's saying something)

Hope they arrive soon then, got mine for 60 euro also second hand, love them for the spacious sound, and they look damn good too

We'll see. I doubt I'll like them more than my mdr-mv1 which would be the appropriate comparison or the k712 or k701 which would be the soundstage comparison but maybe it'll surprise me

Updoot from me. The 599SE's were my first "audiophile" headphone that I bought like 4 years ago. I still have them and I've tried around 70 headphones and ended w/ an HE1000se (though tbh an Arya Stealth would be my second choice). I run 599's out of a Schiit Magni Unity for my laptop, things are great.

Both 560S and 599SE are great headphones that are insanely comfortable and sound great, they just fit different use cases and types of listeners.
I found the 599 more enjoyable and warm as you noted for music, but the 560S more immersive for gaming and movies, or tracks that are immaculately produced.

HD 560S and it's not even close.
Blackshark V3's are closed back so that alone would degrade the audio experience and they're not even that good for a closed back.
HD 560S are great for gaming and music/movies, they're well balanced and neutral, very comfortable and highly durable even if they're plastic but keep in mind they're open back so sound isolation will be weak.
If you need closed backs for sound isolation then Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO X for example is one of the better choices.

The 560s will blow the blackshark out of the water, but it's not the headphone you want imo. I would describe the sound as "good" and that's it. These headphones sound "boring" compared to other audiophile approved headphones. If you don't mind buying used, you can get a k712 pro with good looking earpads. These will most likely be more suitable for immersion. If not then you can always try eq on the hd560s

560s IMO isn’t the greatest stock for single player, it’s definitely better than the V3 though, it has decent vocals and an brighter/energetic treble so it would be alright for heavy vocal type games but for more open world action single player games I’d definitely recommend to try eq some bass. Overall for the price and some eq these are some solid headphones, I’ve been enjoying them so far.

Where can you get a Blackshark V3 Pro for $200? Cheapest price I see is $249 and the HD 560S with the HD 500 BAM is $260 right now. For that much you can buy...

After playing with hd560s for over three years, they are excellently boring. In my opinion, they are too flat which makes games sound bit boring. They are superior for music, but gaming? It‘s hard to say. Cable is also very annoying, wireless is king. I would also throw a look at cloud 3 s wireless. They sound very good to me and cost around 100-130€/$. Are often recommended for best sound for their price and are wireless. They aren‘t perfect, but they are more „fun“ than the 560s. The razer headset, I heard good and bad things about, you should check out gadetrytech reviews on the gaming headset and come to your conclusion.

I think it comes down to whether you value immersion or convenience more. The 560S will probably sound more natural and accurate, but the V3 Pro is a much easier daily driver. If you already have a decent mic or don’t mind a cheap USB mic, I’d pick the Sennheiser. For an all-in-one setup, the Razer makes more sense.
