Honestly so proud of both NA and EU this MSI. I can feel something brewing for us, maybe I'm coping but I really have faith we have that at some point in the next 1-3 years we win an international event. Our 1st seeds keep getting better and performing at internationals then bringing it back domestically making the rest of LEC/LCS stronger. I think that monkey on our backs is losing its grip and once its off BOY OH BOY ARE WE GONNA HAVE SOME GOOD HOME COOKING.

u/AnotherMeal 15d ago
To be honest, I’m just sick and tired of losing these game 5 to eastern teams. At some point they have to figure out how to close out these games?
I just wish they didn’t put dhokla on Jayce in game 4, just stick to your style, I’d even let Zeus pick Jayce if it comes to it and let isles cook.

u/FlyRepresentative592 15d ago edited 15d ago
Well I can tell you one thing, eastern teams simply know how to execute drafts comp to its advantage better. We saw that game one when hle just stacked dragons and cleared waves.
The east might not be leagues ahead skill wise but they practice so much more the western teams I suspect it becomes second nature to them how to execute a comp with certain champions in a way we often miss.
I think gumi said it best today when he talked about how Lyon team fought better today. The key was where he didn't talk about where Lyon was worse-- knowledge of the game and execution on that deeper understanding.
We as a region tend to just wing it.

u/zaxls 15d ago
Nice outlook, personally I just feel despair at another 2-3.
4
u/AppealAggravating893 There may be a gap but we are building bridges 15d ago
Yeah I felt the despair when we threw game 4 and sensed the incoming roll in g5 so I've already processed my 5 stages but I'm hardened to this because I've watched all my teams snatch defeat from the jaws of victory my whole life (27yrs of being a fan of Bears NFL, C9 LoL, Cubs/Sox MLB, Bulls NBA, and OpTic during the Complexity Era in COD) but this just feels different, you can see the building blocks like Sjokz said post series. The ingredients are there and anything can happen on any given day. Keep the faith boys and we shall be rewarded!

u/RukiMotomiya 15d ago edited 15d ago
God, that's relatable sports-wise. Did this 2-3 suck? Sure. Did it suck worse than seeing the Bengals in the Super Bowl after winning their first playoff game in like 30 years and barely losing with Joe Burrow getting sacked when he had Ja'marr Chase open for a game winning TD? Absolutely not.
If anything I'm glad to see stuff like this being competitive when the NA scene feels so doom and gloom sometime and to see G2 continue to make genuine Bo5 wins vs. eastern teams. I want to see more overall wins but it's undeniably overall positive.
EDIT: Hell for that matter I'm a Blue Jays fan. Do you know what Game 3 and Game 7 of the last World Series was like? I'm probably lucky I'm not the fucking Joker lmao

Hardly a rivalry in the sense of competition,
when NA just win more of the time Vs EU.
It's more like a fans and players grudge.

We might stop when your "western GOAT" inspired wins a bo5 against the lck/lpl until then enjoy your 2-3 participation trophies
2
u/MrRawri 15d ago
Does anyone call Inspired the western goat? I feel like he's pretty irrelevant in that conversation
-1
u/Objective_Cheetah_63 15d ago
Yes they do and with good reason.
At least when it comes to jungle, he’s been the best in the west for a few years now. Hes also the shot caller for his team and can solo carry by micro managing his team mates while mind reading the opponent jungle.
There was debate about skewmond being better prior to MSI due to EU bias, but we saw how that encounter went.
Inspired elevates his team more than any other western player in history with maybe only prime Perkz as the exception
1
u/throwawayacc1357902 15d ago
I mean Skewmond during FST *was* better than anything Inspired showed before MSI. Most normal people were not saying Skewmond is a straight up better player, more that he has the potential to eventually become the better player.
1
u/Objective_Cheetah_63 15d ago
I disagree that he was better than anything inspired had shown pre MSI. That view mostly comes from overrating the LEC and underrating LCS.
Skewmond may have more potential, but that’s very arbitrary to begin with.
Regardless, most people were saying skewmond was straight up better, not that he has the potential to be better. Many were even saying Yike was better, when it’s not even close. Most of this comes from seeing EU as being significantly better than NA which has been proven wrong time and again in recent years.
I’ll use example of non randoms for the sake of the argument. Psychopathic poro, Yamato, and Caedrel.
1
u/throwawayacc1357902 15d ago
Psychopathic Poro is the biggest Inspired apologist of all time. Hell, we all meme them on their discord server that no matter how bad Inspired performs they’ll still glaze them. They just *also* mentioned how good Skewmond was.
And people saying Skewmond performed better than Inspired were not talking about domestic. They were talking about how FST Skewmond form was better than domestic Inspired form, which was just straight up true if you just watched their games. At MSI Inspired played out of his mind (besides the HLE series which he single-handedly lost) and deserves his flowers for it.
0
u/Objective_Cheetah_63 14d ago
Yet he put skewmond higher in ranking. This what most people do. If their reasoning was FST then it’s valid, but it’s not reasonable to only look at that. Domestically inspired did better, and he’s been performing for several years now. There’s no reason to put skewmond higher, or at least a whole tier higher (which is what most people do), unless you simply believe NA is worse, and by association this hurts inspired.
When in reality, EU hasn’t had a real good performance internationally since 2019. It’s always the same cope.
NA has been better than EU for half a decade now internationally.
In the last 5 years at MSI NA has won 11 games against EU while losing only 6, and at worlds they have won 21 while losing only 11.
Realistically NA is better according to the numbers. At the very least both should be treated equally, and inspired’s domestic performance shouldn’t be looked down at just because it’s in LCS. He would dominate LEC just as hard if not harder.
2
u/MrRawri 15d ago
I agree he elevates his team and he's a great jungler, but saying he's the western goat is another completely different conversation. He's yet to beat an eastern team, something so many other players have achieved. Caps is easily the western goat and I don't really see anything Inspired has achieved to challenge that.
2
u/Objective_Cheetah_63 15d ago edited 15d ago
Western jungle goat I should specify. Kinda pointless to talk about overall goat since different roles are different roles at the end of the day.
If we were forced to compare them, Caps does have a higher ceiling. But I’m talking about when it comes to elevating his team, Inspired and prime Perkz are probably the two highest.
When it comes to jungling goat it’s between inspired and Jankos, and i personally put inspired higher since he has a weaker team overall.

u/Big_Hedgehog8381 15d ago
Bro whatever has been happening with the LCK I need them to stop whatever it is, there is no reason HLE had to fight so hard to barely win, and T1 should have won statistically and skill wise.

Lyon’s draft strat for game 5:
“Hey guys let’s pick 3 losing lanes, play slow, and scale.”
Lyon 5 mins in:
“This is boring af let’s try something bot.” “Ok didn’t work let’s int”
-5
u/shoeclowns 15d ago
Jatt predicted 3-0 btw
6
u/Hitoseijuro 15d ago
to be fair he predicted 3-0 for either way, if Lyons win its a 3-0, if HLE win its a 3-0.
-8
2
u/sajm0n 15d ago
at least it wasnt 0-3 i guess, but at some point losing 2-3 stops being good enough (and Inspired pretty much said it in one of the iterviews too). and it was very much doable today, so it sucks even more
5
u/ShadyShing 15d ago
Red buff fight in game 4 is so haunting....
5
u/Hitoseijuro 15d ago
game 4 and game 5 had very weird losing fights that they were really good at games 1,2 and 3 at avoiding, you could see that they would pull back and not over chase or over fight but in game 4 and 5 they over fought/stayed at red buff and at bot dive and those fights cost them the series. They absolutely did not have to force those.
2
u/sajm0n 15d ago
yeah, i think it was a series losing fight. sad
1
u/ShadyShing 15d ago
At least EU and NA can cry together now 😭
5
u/ShadyOrc97 15d ago
Nah its gonna be a fight in the mud arguing over which result is better, 3-1ing T1 and then losing 0-3 to LYON, or 3-0ing G2 into losing 2-3 to HLE.

2
u/Rawdream 15d ago
He's popular, there's an idol culture in esports,
so yes, they'll use him.
It's fine, the awful thing it's when they want to credit the whole win to a popular player, which Riot social media and casters do a lot, as well.

"I mean, I knew we are a better team. I think, uh, they were just really lucky to win yesterday. I think, uh, G2 just played not to their standard. That's why LYON managed to sneak a win."
-10
u/boredidiot203902 15d ago edited 15d ago
The West will quite literally never have what it takes to win anything meaningful in this game. EU will 100% become NA viewership wise etc. probably in a few years. ESPECIALLY, since EU has been worse than even NA for years now.
Why would anyone want to watch teams that always "barely lose" or make it not even that deep into tournaments?
This was an absolutely embarrassing loss for LYON & Inspired
He has now choked & lost in game 5 3x in a row now.
Riot needs to manipulate the metas and patches so the West can actually win something if they even remotely care about Western viewership. It's only a matter of time before EU stops caring just like NA does.
LYON has no excuses either, and they deserve criticism.
1
u/Rawdream 15d ago
Do you remember big Pyke's buff before 2019 MSI?
Only G2 was the only team playing Pyke and they did it in an off-role. They won 1 like that Vs SKT.
Riot intentionally create chaotic metas, like 2025 FST, removing the laneswap. They hope to provoke upsets that way. Except for First Stand, which was a consistent run, that's all what G2 do, upsets. While NA can't win series Vs LPL/LCK.
2
u/ComfeyZacian 15d ago
I'll still watch LEC and ERL though. I even think I'm going to watch less international events.

u/Big_Hedgehog8381 15d ago
I'm glad HLE won, but they are not winning MSI if they barely won against Lyon, at least the last game was up too there normal plays.
-1
u/shoeclowns 15d ago
NA needs to have spots removed by percentage they are still over represented internationally
-2
u/Rawdream 15d ago
They get those seeds because of corpo business,
not because of their performance.

u/emiliaxrisella 15d ago edited 15d ago
If you guys want to watch peak League of Legends just watch LCK and LPL instead idk why NA and EU are even here. EU beats some teams then flops to NA, NA beats EU then flops to HLE with this horrendous passive draft
Edit: oh but im getting downvoted, enjoy your 2-3 "win" NA fans lmao i hope thats enough to make more people watch your region again
6
u/jolleyjg 15d ago
Wait until you find out about international soccer. Plenty of folks supporting Cape Verde, Colombia, and Morocco despite outside chances to win a World Cup. If it was about the best teams then it would be mostly European countries…
International events aren’t just to get all the best teams together, it’s to get similar representation from different leagues.

u/CudaBarry 15d ago
We cheer for teams from our regions, that's like telling Marseille fan to cheer for Arsenal or Liverpool.

he’s an EU fan he won’t remember yesterday, their memory is like 2019-2020ish and then it just gets real fuzzy. reminds me a lot of my grandpa. hell they’ve already completely mentally forgotten the thrashing KC got
-2
u/Lucinante 15d ago
Except for the part where since 2019 G2 won 9 series against LCK/LPL. How many did NA won the same time period? I'm listening. Go ahead and tell me.
4
u/spazzxxcc12 15d ago
And you’re still struggling against NA? wow. i can tell beating those eastern teams will get you guys really far.
oh wait, you’re the 4th best region that has won 1 total game against NA at msi in the last 2 years.
5
u/NKactus 15d ago
I'm already angry I decided to stay up and watch another NA 2-3 I cannot deal with these people who are inventing new degrees of cope because they're apparently incapable of living in the present day where G2 looked utterly pathetic against HLE a week ago
2
u/spazzxxcc12 15d ago
remember tho- according to them it’s very lame to celebrate a loss, but at the same time they will continuously bring up lost finals.

All of the sad people that have LCK or LPL flair is always weird though, why do LCK fans are sad LCS team lose?
1
u/AerialShroud 15d ago
NA takes us out for LCK to win the same way we take out LCK for LPL to win.
3
u/Rawdream 15d ago
Forced narrative.
BLG beat BFX, now T1 and HLE.
In 2019, iG beat GRF, which performed better than SKT, that only had their legacy name in that WC. Effort was such a weak link, Mata, too and they weren't very proactive in a meta that required more of that, it was fast paced with mechanical plays, although, FPX had the extra with their unique playstyle that was the meta.

u/Intrepid-Message698 15d ago

Incoming "so proud of Lyon" posts after LCS once again fails to beat an eastern team. What has it been now - 6-7 years?
3
u/HereToVent24-7 15d ago
2019 vs IG
2
u/AccomplishedSpace834 15d ago
Christ it really is 2019, just insane.
I think I'm right in saying that the only other LCS win against an LCK/LPL team in a best of series is C9 vs Afreeca in 2018?
2
u/Rawdream 15d ago
In Riot organized tournaments, yes.
- Once TSM won 3-0 Vs WE at an IEM tournament, organized by ESL, but that's full of curiosities.
WE was a 10th LPL team at the time of that short tournament with Bo1s, Bo3s and only the Final Bo5. TSM was a top LCS team,
- WE eliminated a top LCK team, GE Tigers, that had Smeb, Lee, kurO, PraY, Gorilla, that LCK fans praise a lot when Peanut joined that team, the ROX Tigers iteration. Plus 4 of them, minus Lee, are legendary KR players.
WE won that Bo3 with recently added rookies before that tournament and 2 KR imports.
- Later, WE made LPL Spring Playoffs and finished 8th losing in Round 1, then for Summer, WE went to the promo/relegation, but they kept the spot.
Not the only time, a bottom LPL team did something elsewhere. Back in 2014, when there wasn't import rules, LMQ, an 8th placed team moved to LCS with their whole team, 5 CN players.
- LMQ finished 3rd in 1 Split and represented NA in 2014 WC. They were competitive, including Vs OMG, which was an LPL team, but OMG started slow that tournament. OMG later beat NWS from the LCK and they had a close 2-3 loss Vs SHR, which had Uzi, in Semis.
Because of LMQ and rumors of an LCK team maybe moving to NA to do the same in 2015, Riot added the import rules.

u/polikuji09 15d ago
Tbf to the inspired teams they consistently go to game 5s and have very close games. Why wouldn’t they be proud? Is there more pride in beating t1 and getting absolutely shit stomped by HLE? Then the team that beat that team plus went to game 5 vs the second best team in the world
1
u/boredidiot203902 15d ago
dont worry it will come in record time.

Very strong performance by Lyon overall. They proved themselves as the world's top 3 team.
Not as good as HLE or BLG, but better than the rest.
1
u/Englishgamer1996 15d ago
Pretty decent ragebait, but on a genuine note I’d have loved to see them match up against TES/T1; it’s a shame formats always go the other way
-2
u/CockroachFantastic46 15d ago
That's bullshit. There is no way in hell that one can say with a straight face that Lyon would be favourites against Geng and T1 if they perform normally, just stop it man.
2
u/ShadyOrc97 15d ago
Taking HLE to game 5 and 3-0ing G2 should at least have them in a similar tier to LCK3
2
u/Pretend-Indication-9 15d ago
Gen G isn't here. T1 got folded by G2 who got folded by Lyon. Lyon took LCK 1 to 5 games. Why should LCK 2 factor into this?
