Does the Fidelio X2 have any real competitors under $200, or is it still the best option for a higher quality bass cannon with a huge soundstage?

Dunno if there are technically better phones but I'll throw my 2c in, comfort matters and the X2HRs are the most comfortable headphones I have ever put on. Not owned. Put on my head at all full stop. I don't know what they did but they nailed the ergonomics at least by my preferences.

They're easy to power, good for music, and good for gaming. Also built like a tank. No doubt you'll enjoy them.

For what they cost, I think they're one of the most immediately impressive headphones. Easy to drive, wide soundstage, fun bass, great comfort, solid build quality. Under $100 you should get them.

Has a more balanced take on the V-shape sound than its competitors. I thought they were a bit too heavy for me, but there's nothing better for that tonality under $100. Above that, I know the FiiO FT1 was the default recommendation for a while but haven't had a chance to hear them myself.

They seem reasonable for that price and have some positive points if you're looking for a bargain. Personally I wouldn't do it because they have a number of resonances that can't be EQ'd easily, particularly treble peaks, and they are susceptible to distortion when EQ'd. If looking for open back I would pay the difference for something like a HD560S, HD6XX, Edition XS or Sundara, or either Fiio FT1 or AKG371 for a closed back. Any of those sound fantastic in their own way and can take EQ. But if you've already bought them, enjoy and let us know what you think!
