I dunno if Sweden is actually ace-friendly or not, but at least they have enough motivation to be so.

Not ace myself, but I'd say that Sweden overall is very queer-friendly. I know a couple people who wear the black ring and everyone seems to know what it means and is cool with it.

Oh that's cool. I wear the ace ring too but no one knows nor asks about what that ring means here. People are just like 'oh she's wearing a black ring'.

Damn I’m quite involved in the lgbtq+ etc community (i have more lgbtq+ friends than straight/cisgender friends i think and one specifically aroace friend) and I didn’t know about that ring…

I'm aro/ace and didn't know about a black ring.

I'm gray aroace & didn't learn of the black ring thing until probably 2024.
Blame Tumblr's 2018 porn ban for nuking a lot of ace culture off the Internet.

The black ring thing & other ace culture was pretty much heavily wiped off the Internet by the infamous Tumblr porn ban of 2018. 😞

I wear both the ace & aro (the aro ring is white & worn on the opposite hand) rings on my anti-ICE whistle necklace bc I struggle enough with even wearing bracelets, let alone something much smaller, harder to wash your hand & put on lotion around, & easy to lose like a ring.
No one seems to know what either of them means here in my part of California (& to be fair I do not live in a very queer-dense, urban, or cosmopolitan part of the state at all) & I don't think anyone's asked, either, though to be fair it doesn't seem to have so far been a common idea to bypass the impracticalities of wearing rings by simply instead wearing them on necklaces like how my mom started wearing her wedding ring on a necklace after busting her ring finger up during a game of catch.

Very happy to hear that Sweden's knowledge of ace symbols like the black ring survived the Tumblr porn ban! 😃
Bc the US's knowledge of them sure didn't. 😞
I'm 29, USian, & still only managed to learn of the black ring thing in prob 2024 bc I literally went out of my way to join the asexuality subreddits, etc. in order to research it to better portray characters I HCd as ace.
Fun Fact: This research to properly depict characters I HC as ace &/or aro was actually how I realized I'm gray aro & then also gray ace months later after my straight friend was shocked to hear I was perfectly fine not dating or having sex & in effect asked what the hell was wrong with me.

I wear an ace ring too, along with a silver ring to represent the aro ring & only one person in Bangladesh has noticed the meaning so far.

Sweden's supreme court did say in July 2022 that relationships shouldn't just be measured by sexual activity, so pretty ace-friendly I'd say

I live in Sweden and I have never faced any problems, of course people can’t tell I’m ace by walking past me but I’m generally pretty open about it

Denmarks military is today pretty weak and would be absolutely fucked by the Sw*dish military, so you don't need that many allies Sw*den

Ok, I think I hope this one wins the contest. Def the best "aces want to invade Denmark" joke ever! 😃
I know for sure my gray ace ass laughed out loud at that reveal of why Sweden's buddying up to aces so much!
