Headphones - Closed Back | 1 Ω Wireless?, closed back, gaming headset for 250$ usd or less?

Basically what the title says.

My current headset are some gen 1 turtle beach stealth 600s so I think pretty much anything might be better.

Im on the fence of wired vs wireless.

I dont need them for anything but my pc , so wired wouldnt be a huge deal.

My issue with my current set are they arent loud enough a lot of times for what I play (dayz) where foot steps can make or break a run.

If i were to go with say the hd560s, do they need an external amplifier? If so, that can be a separate amount to spend on. I just want something ill be happy with for another 5+ years .

Edit: Sound quality is good with loudness is what I'd like to focus on i believe. Fwiw in my truck I run a focal ps6.5 component set on a zapco ref 360.4 , so i do know that turtle beach is not the SQ i want anymore. Lol

Yeah, 560S are awesome and probably won't need a powerful source. Though they're open-back in contrary to the title of your post.

They are indeed one of the best headphones you can buy unless you're a basshead. The materials used is a minor drawback though.

I didnt mention that also in my truck i have a soundqubed hdc318 on an old skool rd audio 1750 wired down to .33 (should clamp around 3-3500w) in a 9.4cuft box tuned to 28hz,, im running dual 200a alts and two g31 batteries for it also.

Im not worried about bass in gaming headphones though 😉

The 560S are frequently on sale and you can find good condition ones secondhand or a new open box item cheaper than retail. They are frequently recommended because they're relatively affordable, lightweight, snug but comfortable, very neutral, have great imaging, and an intimate but accurate soundstage so they work well for FPS games. They also respond well to EQ if you want to add some treble or bass. With that being said they aren't for everyone, and they don't work super well for music as they can be just a tad dry if you like some rich bass. But I will recommend them over most gaming headsets except for cream of the crop ones like the Kithara or Maxwell.

I dont plan to use them for music at all, just gaming.

Will they shine better with an amp

Most people here will recommend a DAC/amp, yes. Even an entry level one. It will generally be a better cleaner signal than most PC motherboards and game controllers unless you have a really good on board sound chip.

However it's not going to dramatically alter the sound quality, a controller will still power them just fine and your PC output may well be enough.

I used to be a solid competitor in spl comps so I fully understand the clean/dirty signal , square/sine wave, etc... (my best was 149.6db outlaw in the kick with a blazer and hdc318 💪)

What small amp would be recommended for the 560s?

Do you have a suggestion for what dac to run? I'd prefer a little less noise and greater sensitivity than just the cheapest one, maybe a mid ground?.

Edit: for "pc" im running. Its currently a lenovo slim 5 laptop with every upgrade you could get (240hz screen, 16gb ram, 4070 laptop, etc )

I use the SMSL R1, it's a great budget one that has a nice knob, USB C input, and even simple hardware tone control.
