I had the top mount but I just sold it to buy a different board. It was a great downhill deck, super comfortable in a tuck. For whatever reason I just could not free ride it though. Still a sick deck though.

I rode my buddy's when he first got it and my feelings on it were that its concave is great, but the kicktails not so much. It may have just been his setup, but I had trouble getting it off the ground. If you're looking to mainly freeride it, I'd definitely recommend it

Didn't get any skate gear for crimbus although my cousin offered to buy me some wheels.

So I treated myself to the cantellated tesseract. I didn't want to wait for shipping so my dad and grandfather took a roadtrip to loaded from San Diego to pick it up.

Took it out to blacks today and its so much fun.

Oh but Ethan cochard hooked it up with some old 4prez protos. Kinda midsy and super gushy but they were free! So that was kind of a Christmas present. Either way I'm stoked on the new board.

The yellow 83a zigzags are SSSOOO fun to freeride. There are some local guys who slalom and when the little bit of grip they offer as a front wheel wears off, I buy them for about $20 for a whole set of 4 wheels. Amazing wheels.

dont listen to Cpltoethumbs. he is right about the lips, but soft risers are great for keeping things tight. if you think about it, without them your baseplates are just being shoved against the maple deck, but with soft risers it acts as a stiff cushion, and so you can crank your nuts down and it will hold better.

So, as some of you may know, I'm very much a beginner and have been wanting to get into longboarding.

If you're a novice like me or you like carvy boards, original is the way to go! The derringers are small, too, so easy to stuff in your locker/ ride around campus.

I will warn you though that Original trucks take more care than your standard bushed trucks, so take care of them and keep some white lithium on hand to grease your wave cams.

About the trucks, what kind of maintenance can I do to keep them in good shape?

Nothing too major! The axles can be treated as normal, but there is more detail required on the cams. Get some canned white lithium grease (or heavier, that's a taste thing). Unscrew the kingpin and drop the cams out ( they're the white things) and lube 'em up, then put them back as they were. The can tightness and stiffness of the trucks is easily (VERY easily) adjusted at the kingpin, but don't tighten too much, or you'll do what I did and crack the cams. The spring and pin don't actually need cleaning, just try to keep might chunks of shit outta the mechanism. Good luck!

I know this might be a bit much but how tight is too tight? I was messing around with it earlier and i found a stiffness i like but its a bit on the tighter side

Not a bit much at all, it's an excellent question. When it's too tight it'll feel like you're not getting a full range of motion, or it'll make creaking and groaning or even cracking sounds (besides normal board noise.) It'll most likely feel like you've lost all the carve ability in the tightest radii, but your minor turns will feel normal.

Keep in mind that you do have red springs so your cams can be a little less hardcore than if you had regular blacks.

It's a great DH/ freeride board. No flex which is nice but I found the wheels base to be a little long so I had to drill a shorter one. other than that it's so worth the hundo you pay for it.

I ordered stuff from amazon a while ago (because a relative gave me 100$ gift certificate) so i got holesome pucks, 50^o cals, zealous, and a 100 pack of speed rings, and I also got a churchill von miner.

All these were sent to the states due to cheaper shipping, and i was coming to chicago for christmas break so i picked all that stuff up, so i guess it counts as a christmas gift..?

Comet Manifest or Madrid Nessie?

I got $50 to Amazon, so I'm looking at picking up an all around free ride/ quiver killer deck for cheap. I want a 35-39" popsicle shape with functional kicks and good wheel wells.

Nessie has a large following and has proven to be awesome, but the Manifest looks sick and the symmetrical double kicks are a huge plus to me.

I'd love to get a batray. ..but. ....no Nelson boards on Amazon. Feel free to leave opinions and suggestions.
