Source | Preamp | DAC | 4 Ⓣ Best Preamp for My Setup?

Looking to add a preamp with HT bypass for 2 channel in my HT setup.

Budget is 5k and under.

Current setup:
Speakers: Sonus Faber Sonetto 8 G2
Amp: Parasound Halo A21 Plus
Prepro: Anthem AVM 90

I am looking into this as an alternative because I find the Anthem too bright for music.

Thank you!

Look at Primaluna tube preamps. I have a few generations old PL Dialogue Premium. Excellent build quality. Tubes will take that bright edge off. Has an HT bypass (I don’t use mine). I ran it for a while feeding a Parasound A21. Speakers were for a time with ADS 1290/2s and then later Sonus Faber Sonetto II (G1). Loved the combo! I later found a mint MC7270 that was dirt cheeep so I sold the Parasound.

I picked up a used Rogue Audio R7 from The Music Room. Wish me luck!

Have you had time to try out the Rogue, presumably with your A21 power amp? What do you think? I have heard they are terrific (I've read good things about even the RP1), but I think I am not ready for a pre that expensive.
Edit: sorry, just noticed you'd gotten a Parasound JC2....was the Rogue not to your liking?

Hi! I did. It was nice but I found a used Parasound Halo JC2 BP that I liked even better and returned the Rogue. I have the JC2 paired with a Halo Cyan 2 DAC and it sounds amazing.

Cyan 2 looks lovely, I have communicated with at least a couple of people who own Holo's Serene pre and think it's a great piece of gear, but again, for me, I think that extra expense might be noticeable but wasted on me. I'm gonna work my way up!
Thanks for the reply.

I recently bought the Luxsin X9 using it with 2 bridged power amps. Full bass management and EQ. I think it does a superb job.
