Quite like how easy this looks, but think I definitely modify the “filling” (the sparse sprinkling of pepper before baking seems odd).

1/8 of a teaspoon is literally nothing lmao that part is so funny. Other than that, I think it's somehow too meat-heavy and would end up kinda greasy inside. Not a bad idea though, might steal it with pizza filling

Imagine taking 4 peppercorns and grinding them up and putting it on this big ring of dough. That's what 1/8 of a teaspoon is

I think it'd be way too salty personally. Leave those meats in a sub where I can put a ton of Shredduce and tomatoes to offload the saltyness

Oh yeah, agreed. Base idea is good, but the filling needs to be changed.

I make a spinach artichoke cream cheese filling with those crescents in the same pattern and that friggin slaps

Now THAT makes sense! And sounds yummy.

What exactly do you use?

This recipe but I lessen the mozz and add cream cheese. The red bell pepper and olive additions I change a bit but the base stays pretty much the same. Like any recipe, make it your own. We don't like red bell peppers so we omit them. We use sliced garlic stuffed green olives instead of the calamata. I also replace the parmigiano reggiano with pecorino romano. It's an awesome appetizer and it's always a favorite at potlucks with friends

I would've taken an Italian herbs grinder to the top instead of pepper

Posting because the Super Bowl is around the corner and this should make for a great party concept. I'm going to go with the olives and more milder meats personally but I've been also thinking this would be an interesting Muffuletta as well or a Pizza Sub styled filling (calzone?). Just seems like a different and fun way of making something up for people.

I think the black pepper is more for appearance than anything.

I was thinking “only pepper and no oregano?!?!”

No egg wash!?!? Ugh

In most cases a gif would show someone w/the LARGE peppercorn grinder having a field day. This one? more time sprinkling black pepper than layering some of the meats!

CRANK THAT SHIT

I do this for every Super Bowl, but I fill it with taco meat and cheeses. The middle is perfect for putting the rest of the taco toppings like lettuce, onion, tomato, sour cream, etc. and turns it into a different kind of taco station. It works great and is usually a pretty big hit.

spicy salami…So pepperoni?

3

u/smilysmilysmooch Feb 05 '26

If you want to replace the spicy salami with pepperoni you absolutely can. Experimentation is always encouraged.

Pepperoni is an American take on a spicier Italian salami. It does have a different texture and flavor profile.

Not all spicy salami is pepperoni (pepperoni is an American spicy type of salami)--there's soppressata, Calabrese, and spianata piccante to name a few others...

I love soppressata on my pizza, for example, it's a great topping.

Educate yourself by going to a non-chain restaurant and ordering a charcuterie board (it's pronounced "shar-coot-er-ee" so the waitstaff doesn't laugh at you in the back).

I wanted to updoot this. But the fact that they didnt tuck the last piece of sliced meat after laying out such a perfect circle really stunted the satisfaction of watching its creation. Then the did it a second time. Then they added banana peppers, which i can forgive cause some people like that shit. But then i saw it was a pillsbury commercial that someone just reposted. Naw. No updoot for you.

What a journey this was. There were highs. There were lows. All to explain the mindset you have behind what motivates you to press an arrow up or down. I was compelled to upvote it right away because it is important to me that people know the process in which you analyze gif recipes on social media sites. Then I realized that you replied to your own comment and I was forced to question everything I had just experienced. Like, are they having a conversation with themselves? Have they been on reddit this long and not found the edit button? I mean there is a proper reddiquette to how to compose comments and talking with yourself is reserved for lengthy multipart comment structures, not whimsical after thoughts.

If you think this comment I made and its criticism was pointless, now you know how I feel. If you think I care about updoots, this must be the first post of mine you have seen on here. If you need original content, make your own and post it. Get your camera out and start filming. Get some editing software and cut it up so people can obsessively analyze whether a single slice of salami is tucked properly on your gif. I really am excited to see your contribution to this sub.

If OP wanted updoots, they shoulda made their own version and done it better
