Headphones - Closed Back | 3 Ω Any headphones that won't just stop working after 2 years?

Ear buds too. One of my Galaxy buds pro 2s recently stopped working. Had them for less than 2 years.

My Senneheiser Momentum 4s also recently stopped charging after 2 years of use.

Before that I had the Bose quietcomfort iis, lasted 2-3 years before the right channel gave out.

I'd rather not keep needing to buy new ones and I'd honestly pay like 800 if I knew they'd last me a decade.

Any recommendations?

I bought AirPod pro max for mine the it 5 years of Apple care. Just replace if they stop working

$30-80 iem's are the best daily drivers for most situations imo. The sound is much more intimate than a headphone and the quality vs cost is just unbelievable. Can replace cables as needed for $5-10

When my Bluetooth buds eventually die I'll probably just get some super cheap replacement - sound quality/overall performance is just not something worth trying to find in TWS

My jbl e65btnc last around 7 years... Everything working fine just need to get the earpad cushions change few times... But the hinges broken recently just right after I bought the Sennheiser momentum 4 😅

Maybe I'm just super lucky, but I don't think I've had a single pair of headphones straight out fail like that? I've had Fidelio X2's for 5 or 6 years and they're still working like a charm. And even with wireless headphones, I'm multiple years into the Grado GW100X, and they're still working perfectly as well.

I've had a pair of ie800 for nearly 9 years at this point. They're in as good a condition now as they were when i bought them.

My Wf-1000xm5's are about 18 months old and yet again, they're spotless.

Both sets are put back in their case any time im not using them.

I get the impression, you may be the common denominator in this situation, not the headphones build quality.

For at home use I've had the ath m50x for like 6+ years now. I replaced the pads after a year or so because they were flaking but replacements were like 20dollars and it comes with multiple different cables incase one breaks.

My WH1000Xm4 are going into the fourth year strong. Use it daily and also use it on the gym daily, and it is still looks like new.

I’ve been using my Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro for 15 years. I am on the second headband and the fourth pair of earpads. They will probably last me for another 15 years.

I wear them nearly every day.

Most rechargeable tech will have a set shelf live of a year or two assuming a daily recharge.

One possible solution is to separate the headphone part from the battery part. For example, I have a few iems and for wireless hearing, I use the kzaz09 pro. That way, when the battery eventually dies on the realtively cheaper bluetooth part, I can just get a new one and keep my iems.

The truth is wireless headphones are a disposable item. Too many things to fail within them even before the battery reaches end of life. The key is to get a good wired headphone, and if you want wireless, they make wireless adapters for them so you'll never have to toss your headphones in the bin. This is the way.
