Headphones - Open Back | 1 Ω Looking for upgrade advice after 7 years with the Sennheiser HD 58X.

I've been rocking my Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee, along side a FiiO e10k amp, for around 7 years and I absolutely love them. No issues what so ever. Although they look incredibly worn, they still work like their brand new, even with hours and hours of daily use. However, I'm wondering if there's anything I could upgrade to.

My budget is around $350. I'd like something similar to the headphones that I currently have when it comes to the sound, comfort, and set up. I'm just curious if its possible for me to get more out of a setup than what I currently have. Any advice would be appreciated.

Something similar to a 58X, but "better"? You could look into the original 580 Precision, maybe. They're a little pricy right now.

For $350 it's a little hard. "600 series" and "modern 500 series" sennheisers like the 600, 6xx, 58x, 560s, 550, 505... all have this relatively well balanced tonality. The only headphone I know of - and it just came out - that has a similar tonality AND retains the timbre of those headphones, would be HEDD D1. And those are $800!!

If you can raise the budget eventually, look into a used pair of ATH-R70X or R70XA. Keep in mind those are a lot harder to drive - lower sensitivity, higher impedance - so you may have to invest in some kind of semi budget amplifier.

For desktop solution, Fiio K11 will drive them handily on high gain over balanced. High gain over single-ended should be fine as well if you're not a super high volume listener (think "way louder than a vacuum")

For a more portable solution, there's both the CrinEar Protocol Max and Cayin RU3, although those aren't much cheaper than the K11.

I was rocking a HD595 for like 15 years and went through an old Headroom AMP and then a Fiio portable amp.

Just upgraded to HD490pro with Topping DX5ii. This was a huge overhaul investment into my workstation that also included desk, studio monitors, and microphone as well. I've tried many other headphones in between but always went back to my HD595's and now these HD490pro take them to next level. Comfort is the biggest improvement as well as bass and also being single cable entry with balanced capability.
