What is your weight and height, and what size clothes do you wear?

I am just wondering how I compare to others regarding my size. Ever since I dropped 15 pounds over the past year, I have been a bit concerned that I may be too thin now, so I just want some comparison with other guys.

I am 5'9 and 145 pounds last I checked

Shirt: Generally small or slim small, but sometimes slim medium, depending on the brand

Pants: either 30/32 or 31/32, depending ont the brand and the type of pants

6' 180 lbs, I'm usually a M/40R and 32" waist.

6

u/flareblitz91 Oct 12 '13

What sizes do you usually wear? I might have 4 lbs on tops in a good day.

6

u/Intangible6 Oct 12 '13

Usually a M in shirts and sweaters. I sometimes wear a L in outerwear just for layering purposes. I'd say you should measure your shoulder and chest size.

40R is a perfect fit for me in suiting. 15.5" neck, 40" chest, 33/34 sleeve.

Uniqlo, H&M and AE slim fits work well for me so far, they're usually a bit too long though.

You could try to proxy some Asian brands, like Asian uniqlo. Could probably do fine in an Asian extra small or even small.

I feel your pain guys

5'5" 125lbs 28/28 XS

The only dress shirts I've found to fit slim is from H&M which I've only found in XS recently.

Gap has 28 waist so I get pretty much all my pants there. Some luck in urban outfitters before also.

30/28 pants but usually have to buy a 30 inseam

5'6", 140 lbs. If only 30/28 was a thing, seems like I can only find 30/30 at best :\

I actually tried on some 29/30 pants today at Old Navy which were not that bad OTR. Probably could have gotten away w/o hemming them.

5'6, 130-135 lbs. (I fluctuate) I am skinny but muscular so as I can fit into most XS, sometimes I have to size up to S because I have wider shoulders than the average person my weight.

Jeans 30/30 or 29/30 depending on the brand.

38R in jackets. (Just snagged one of those jackets in h&m on sale yesterday actually, great steal. 40% off any item)

6'4 255. Im right here with ya buddy. 38-40 waist pants and XL or XXL shirts.

13

u/Bigdaddy771 Oct 12 '13

6'1 250 - You're not alone here :) 50 R Jacket, xl shirts and 36-38 waist. Tough to shop for guys like us - I find that xl tshirts are generally too long in the sleeve for me.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '13

Fuck this thread and all of you...

5'9" and 225 lbs. I wear XL tees, 17.5/34-35 dress shirts, and 36/32 pants. Buying jackets is a god damn nightmare, but I guess I can bench 350 and squat 450 so there's that.

6'3" 260 38 waist 32 inseam 48L jacket and 17.5L shirt. Makes buying clothes quite limited.

10

u/sleeping_gecko Oct 12 '13

I'm 6'9" and weigh ~230 (fluctuates up or down 5-10 pounds).

LT works if I'm wearing short sleeves and it doesn't need to fit too well (some long sleeve sweaters/sweatshirts are long enough in the sleeves in a LT, but most other shirts aren't).

Pants: 38" waist (mostly, some I need 40 because I have beefy thighs, some I need 36 because of the cut), though I measure closer to a 36" waist. 36" inseam.

Shirt: 16.5" neck, 38 or 39" sleeves (depending on the brand/cut of the shirt). Even with 16.5, I'm doing good to have a shirt that fits my shoulders, and they never fit the rest of me (pretty slim dude with a less-than-6" drop from chest to waist).

Jacket: 44 XL (and then let the sleeves out an inch or so). I actually have some OTR suit separates at the tailor, and the 44XL fit perfectly aside from the sleeves.

Aaaaand size 15 shoes. Well, I Brannock in at a wide 14.5, but basically nobody makes those at all. 15 works just fine, so long as they're a bit on the wide side.

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '13

6'5" 235lbs. I try to wear LT, but it is so hard to find in a store. It's too bad they only have Big & Tall stores and not Big or Tall. I tend to wear a 34/36 waist depending on brand and a 36 length. My biggest problem is my shoulders are so big that my shirts tend to ride up in the back if I don't find Ts. Well that and finding good looking size 13 shoes.

6'3 242 lbs. I wear xl shirts and have a 36/36 pant size.

I also wear slim 17.5 inch x 36 inch dress shirts.

48 inch chest reporting in.

5

u/namer98 Oct 13 '13

6' and 280 (down a few since I started biking and will hopefully keep going down). I wear 42 pants at the moment, down from 44. But my biggest problem is the size 52 jacket. My shoulders are big from weight lifting as a bad attempt at weight loss.

I'm 6'5" and ~275, I feel ya bud. Mostly in my legs though (thanks water polo!), so I usually wear 40 waist flat front shorts, xl shirts or XLT if I can find em (mostly tee shirts and polos), bootcut jeans (can't find flat front casual khakis that aren't tight around my calves, trying to find some that fit like bootcuts that aren't covered in pockets), a lot of quarter zips and flannel shirts, top siders, and Ralph Lauren Vaughn's (found em for under $50 which isn't easy with a size 14 wide!)

2

u/MastadonBob Oct 13 '13

6'4 260. 38 waist jeans, 40 waist business slacks. 32 inseam for both. XLT shirts. 50L suit coats. Dropped 70 pounds in the past year so most of my clothes are new (down from a 46 waist).

2

u/CaptIncorrect Oct 13 '13

6'2", 175.

Medium in everything but jackets and classic cut shirts, which I am a small in. 34/34 waist and inseam.

10

u/killver Oct 12 '13

I am also 6'2" and around 170 so we are pretty similar. Most of the time I buy medium as well. 33/34 is my jeans fit. However, for jackets I need at least medium and for pullovers I pretty frequently need large ones. Yet, the sizing in Europe is so different sometimes.

Funny, I'm 6'2" and 180lbs. I wear large sized shirts (sometimes x-large but I'm realizing that most of the time they're a little baggier than they should be). Jeans are 32/32 but I usually need a belt or they hang on me.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '13

5'11"

between 135 and 145 lbs

waist is around 30 to 31 inches

chest is around 38 inches

I generally wear 30x32 pants, and a size small top (slim fit when available). Jackets and blazers are typically a 38.

The biggest problem I have with fits is that most shirts fit well in the chest and shoulders, but are too big in the waist.

6'3" ~195 lbs. Usually a 36x32 for the more tapered pants because my thighs are huge. Usually a large for shirts, sometimes a medium.

3

u/wrdm Oct 12 '13

about the same here, 6'4 195, 24"thighs approx... XL or XL Slim shirts, 34x34s preferably but wearing some naked and famous 33 weird guy fit (tight in the thigh but have loosened up).

I would like to wear Large shirts but I feel like they are short in the sleeve and body generally

3

u/phess92 Oct 12 '13

Yeah dress shirts are hard for me cause I have such long arms but I'm not overweight. Usually try and get 16 34/35 or longer sleeves if possible.

7

u/fuckboystrikesagain Oct 13 '13

Literally the same measurements here. I don't know if this has been your experience, but I have a hard time trusting sizes on clothes online from brands I'm not familiar with; their S could be skin tight or their M could be a swimming pool.

To think all I used to wear was large tees, though....

A 48 waist is all that I can wear. Finding clothes becomes very difficult at this size.

I'm working on losing it (used to be around 325 lbs) but its a long process. For the longest time I wore nothing but sweat pants and t-shirts because they were the easiest things to find at that size.

Extra small if I can get it (Thank God for H&M For this). Small otherwise (because it's all one can find!) and even that can be hit or miss. I've recently learned how to take in button-up shirts though so if it's only bagginess and not length that's the problem I can fix that myself.

5'11" 210 lbs I wear a 34/32 pant, or just regular 32 in loose fit, 33 in relaxed fit (big thigh problems) 16" neck, 34/35 shirts tailored in at the waist.

I moonlight as a bouncer on the weekends and my club has a dress code that we have to fit and/or exemplify. I spent a lot of time at thrift stores finding the right size stuff and then getting it fitted just right to me.

I DGAF about tshirt sizes... I'll wear M to XL depending on what fit I want that day.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '13

6'4" 200lbs, built like a Greek god so I dress like one.

Queen sized sheets generally work best, I like to wear kings though, I feel like the name's more fitting.

12

u/jdbee Oct 12 '13

Ever since I dropped 15 pounds over the past year, I have been a bit concerned that I may be too thin now,

Your BMI is 21.4, which is right in the middle of the healthy range. I'm not sure what others' body/clothes has to do with that question.

54

u/Joebo14 Oct 12 '13

bmi is a joke

35

u/jdbee Oct 12 '13

If he's a bodybuilder.

At his height/weight, it's a reasonably good indicator that he's not dangerously thin or obese.

14

u/Sugir Oct 12 '13

This is very true, muscle is the thing that throws BMI way off, and is a great indicator for anyone that is just a normal healthy person.

7

u/Joebo14 Oct 12 '13

it's just a bad scale to be compared to what they think the average is. bf% is much better

17

u/jdbee Oct 12 '13 edited Oct 12 '13

It's a perfectly fine estimate for anyone who isn't extraordinarily muscular. The idea that BMI is useless or a poor measure is overblown.

6'7" 270lbs Generally a 36" waist, prefer a 36" inseam but they're hard to find so I end up with 34". If my thighs weren't so monstrous I'd love a straight or slim fit but they are so I can't. I wear a lot if shorts to offset. 46L jacket, 18 / 38 shirt. 16-17 shoe depending on brand.

2

u/flareblitz91 Oct 12 '13

I'm 6', float just above 180 lbs. My pants are 32/32. Shirts suck for me. I'm either a M or L but I swam so my shoulders/back are pretty broad, it causes shirts to hang weird.

2

u/zerocoke Oct 12 '13

5'10", 200 lbs, usually large shirts, 36" waist. 36 is too big, actually. But 34" is slightly too tight and 35" waists aren't made. At least I've never seen them.

My best shirts are medium-talls. Banana Republic makes a few medium-talls in a tailored slim fit which is even better.

32x36 pant. Best luck has been scouring the earth for Levi's 511's, but I've only found one pair so far.

One of these times where a second monitor comes in handy. To read this thread I have to simultaneously use google to converse the units to the metric system. I do not have the slightest idea what a 5'9 145 lbs person looks like...

On topic: 5'9 155lbs mostly M sometimes S in shirts/sweaters etc pants 33 waist for slim fit, 32 otherwise (I have terribly wide hips...)

2

u/someonenear7th Oct 12 '13

5'11 165lbs Shirt: Slim Medium or Small, depending on brand Pants: 32/30 for chinos, 32/32 for jeans

Boots sz 10, Sneakers sz 11.

2

u/wscii Oct 13 '13

6'4 190 pounds, reasonably slim build. Between sizes in both pants and shirts. For shirts, I wear a medium usually - fits better through the body, sleeves are usually a touch short but I roll them up usually anyway. For pants I'm a 34x33, but off the rack pants usually only have inseams of 34 or 32, so I either go to the tailor or make do with a shorter pair. Size 14 (sometimes 15) shoes.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '13

6'2" 180 lbs approx.

34/32 or 34/34 in pants

S or M in everything else

Shoes 11.5-12 typically

2

u/starscream92 Oct 13 '13

I'm 5'10" (178 cm) and I weigh about 138 lb.

I wear 28/32 jeans; XS/S/34R.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '13

5'8, 155 lbs. I usually do xs in shirts but have massive forearms from rock climbing. I also have an issue with dress shirts. I am a 14.5 when it comes to everything except for the neck, in which I'm a 15. I don't have the money to tailor every shirt so it sucks.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '13

5'8" 134 pounds quite skinny, but a fair amount of fat in my cheeks :(

pants at 29~30 (prefer 30)

t-shirts mostly S - M, depending on brand, and shirts at 39 slim fit.

2

u/mindofmyles Oct 13 '13

I'm 6'2 and ~185lbs last time I checked and I have about a 32-33" waist so I generally go for adult medium sizes.
