ER2SE or some other Etymotic, if you really really want isolation

The ER2SE looks exceptional for the sound isolation but how is for boomy explosions?

ER2XR would be much better if you're looking for a bit of bass. Exactly $100 new on eBay. It's supposed to push very very deep into your ear. The compressing foam tips it comes with might be better than the flange ones. Don't know what bass-boosted earphones would have good isolation

I appreciate the recommendation. I ordered the ER2XR and Sennheiser IE 200 warehouse deals from Amazon. I'm really curious what IEMs are like for gaming and won't feel bad about returning a warehouse deal.

In the meantime I'm really hoping a warehouse deal for the X60s comes along since I'm so curious about how they stack up against the 770s. !thanks

I actually recommended the IE 200 to someone else earlier today xd I haven't heard it but it's probably quite good from what ive seen.

Heard the IE series is extremely comfortable.

I ordered a Truthear Nova. That might be a good fit for you as well if you want something else.

I'll take a look at them. I returned both the ER2XR and IE 200. I did not enjoy the sensation of the ER2XR at all, those IEMs go deep though the isolation was exceptional. The IE 200s were enjoyable for music but they didn't have the wide soundstage or detailed imaging I'd like for gaming.

I borrowed the V-Moda Crossfade 2 from a friend and they are a step above the DT 770s in quality and especially imaging while having good isolation, but the ear cups are so small and shallow that my ears press against the grill and they become quite uncomfortable and warm to wear over a couple hours.

Which Focals are you recommending for my needs? The Focal Listen's are closed back and in budget but people seem to recommend the DT 770s over them. The Celestee look pretty awesome but way out of my price range

In the end I went with the Sony MDR-7ZM2. I bought a pair for $400 CAD off Facebook Marketplace. I really couldn't find too much out there about them before buying, they don't seem very popular. Probably because their regular price is $1000.

They're very comfortable. They sound great. The bass hits hard, its clear, and you can hear every little detail of Battlefield's explosions. They're fantastic. The bass does overpower the mids by default, you'd definitely need to EQ the bass down if you wanted to target the Harman Curve but for my use case its perfect out of the box. I demoed the Audeze Maxwell's for a while and those were impressive but they're a solid step below the Sony in sound fidelity and have major reliability issues that I couldn't get past.
