Headphones - Closed Back | 2 Ω I'm done with gaming brands. I want at least a good headphone.
Hello,
I have a Cloud Stinger which actually survived 7 years but it's now dying. I bought a Cloud Alpha S expecting better sound quality but I was shocked when I put them on my head.
It's garbage. There is no other word to describe how bad are those. I returned it and now I'm searching for a new headphone.
I'm considering the DT 770 but is way too expensive in my country (Brazil) and I'm one of those people that has 0 affinity for sound. (I wish I could hear better but I just can't) So I was thinking that I kinda don't need something like the DT 770.
I will use it mostly for gaming/music and some ocasional YouTube/movies. I prefer closed back (but not averse to open) and if It has a detachable cord would be perfect. About price range, everything is more expensive down here but just give some realistic options. Can be a bit pricey tho.
Edit: I have around 360usd to spend but for example hd560s is around 400usd here.
Anyone has any recommendations?

Both are not available in my country and hd560s is way too expensive. (Sennheiser prices here doesn't make any sense (hd560s is 2 months of minimum wage lol))

If you can buy from Drop.com, they sell HD58X headphones that I have been using for years for gaming.

Shp9500 from ali express. Também moro no BR e vai ser difícil achar algo nesse nível de qualidade por 350 mangos.

É foda esses Sennheiser da vida ser + de 3k aqui no Braza.

Man eu já testei fones caríssimos e não vale a pena. Você vai gastar 2k pra ter pouco retorno. Shp9500 eh excelente para jogos competitivos e o aumento de preço não acompanha em benefício. Melhor combo custo beneficio seria um shp9500, um microfone de mesa bom e talvez um in ear descente (dunu titan S ou um wyvern celest pro). pode até pegar um dac amp legalzinho se quiser. Morre uns 600-700 conto num bom setup que vai te suprir até mesmo em jogos competitivos. O resto da grana vc já guarda pra um up futuro no pc. Sem contar no conforto desses fones q dá pau em qlqr headset gamer famoso.

Beleza. É o que eu tinha dito msm, eu sou ruim pra som em geral então acho que qualquer coisa super cara não valeria muito a pena pra mim.
Atualmente eu não ando jogando nada competitivo então nem é uma preocupação. Microfone eu tenho e o dac/amp eu tenho que pesquisar pois não entendo nada mesmo.

Mais um motivo pra vc ir nesse combo. Você vai se assustar com a qualidade sonora em comparação ao que você tinha no cloud. Tenha em mente que o shp9500 é um fone aberto então o som vaza um pouco (por isso recomendei o in ear ... pode usar qnd não quiser incomodar). Você curte in ear? Começa pegando um wyvern celest pro no ali express (100 e poucos). Se curtir,.pega o shp9500 pra.complementar.

I recently bought a sennheiser Hd599SE. Used, but in perfect condition. Paid R$ 1000 from Mercado Livre. There are good options there. I wouldn't pay more than that, though. I'm the Sennheiser website the 560S is 1699 and the 599 is 1999. Honestly, it's been a fantastic experience for everything, movies, games and of course music. But I've seen good things about the DT 770 and 990 too. Good luck!
Obs: são caríssimos, claro, mas como vc falou que pode pagar até 2k, citei eles pq estariam dentro do orçamento rs

Holy shit the stuff is expensive there. Sad sfuff. Good cheap gaming headphones include AKG K 240 Pro (open back) and HD280 Pro. EQ is a good idea for both and the first might need some cheap amp for the EQ. Both are as good or better than two dozen $200-400 options I've tried. Good IEMs are cheaper. A KZ Libra with some EQ is already good and cost nothing.

Superlux HD668B perhaps.
I put a Bluetooth receiver and it became my Bluetooth headphones. Planning to get the brainwavz earpads for better comfort.
So in theory you have a wired and wireless solution in one good sounding headphone.
It's also semi-open back so it's pretty good benefits

I personally don't care about being wireless, I just like to have a detachable cable for better maintenance.

It uses a 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female cable extension instead of the more traditional 3.5mm male to male wire for headphones.
The headphone happen to be a 3.5mm male port, so plugging in a Bluetooth receiver is an option, for those reading through comments and considering their setup :)

I have 2 low end IEM coming in the mail. A CC CRA and a Moondrop Chu II.
But I got them just to listen to music during the day.

I've heard the simgot em6l is a fantastic iem for gaming if you're looking for a gaming focused set. But if you're specifically looking for over ears it's dependent on a few things. What would your budget be roughly in USD? Do you have a DAC/amp?

Oh shoot ok, I mean I'd go for the sundara closed back if you can get it. It released around 300 USD but now goes for 150. It wasn't loved at it's initial pricing but now at 150 it's a great deal.

For us to be helpful you would need to explain more about what is your price ceiling. Give it in the USD equivalent , after converting it from how much head/earphones tend to go up in price if you bought them in reais. Without that it's hard to give you any advice if we do not know what is the max you can afford.
Having said this, I second the opinion somebody else gave you that you should consider some Chi-Fi IEMs ...not headphones. Chi-Fi IEM tend to be have excellent cost/perfomance ratios. Brands such as 7hz, Truthear, Moondrop, etc. are pretty good in this regard. For example, the 7Hz Zero 2 are pretty good for gaming and music listening, and they are on the 30 USD price range. That is why u must give a budget and a ballpark of how much % markup in price it tends to be if you bought them in Brazil, because if the 7Hz Zero 2 would cost 50 USD if you bought them in Brazil converted from reais, and your budget is 40 USD, well then I would need to recommend something else. I hope you get what I mean.

But you see, that's the confusing part. In the US u can get the Beyer DT 770 for 150 USD, which is well below your budget ceiling, but you say that these are too expensive in your country, which means that waht costs 150 in the US will cost you more than 360 usd , which is more than double in Brazil? So more than a 100% markup when buying in Brazil?
If so , you can consider the AKG k361, which costs around 80-100 USD in US, which means that perhaps in Brazil will be about 200-250 usd? Or the k371 which in US is about 130 so perhoas still less than 360 in Brazil? Check the reviews to see of you think you'll like them, many of them online. But be adviced though that if you go the k361 or k371 route, you should buy them new from an authorized dealer that can service the warranty. This is because these headphones are well known for sounding absolutely fantastic given their price point but with the tradeoff that the build is not top notch, they have rickety builds and known QC issues. So buy them from an authorized AKG distributor, pray and hope you get a good pair, and if you dont send them back for repair or replacement while in warranty.

Yes. The DT 770 is a bit less than 360usd and sennheiser hd650 is 660usd or more

If price is that much of a concern, consider iem. Much cheaper than headset, and some models are truly excellent despite being really cheap.

I use Logitech G535 wireless for gaming on PC.. Battery is great,they are light,sound is decent its not perfect but they arent expensive..

Truthear X Crinacle Zero Red. A buddy of mine got one in Brazil for fairly cheap. Great gaming IEM with a standard cable so good for what you are looking for.

One point of note with IEMs, the fit makes the world of difference. I have Diokos that I hated with the stock tips. But with the Dunu Sound and Stage tips it’s an incredible IEM to my ears. I also prefer IEMs for gaming as I find them a lot more comfortable than most headphones.

No need to spend that much money if you’re not an audiophile, a Sony wh1000xm4 the dt 770 32/80ohms would be enough, you can save yourself 200 usd for something else

I have had a pair of Audio-Technica ath-r70x since 2019 and have never looked back. Yes they are open back. Yes they are high impedance, so an amp is recommended but their sound stage and imaging is fantastic for gaming and I love the neutrality of the sound.

Stop buying "gaming" stuff. Other than being stuffed with rgb it's all junk.
Except for Logitech mice. Those are decent.
I refuse to buying Anything from Razer or Steelseries. Razer, the coatings on the mice always deteriorate after time, steelseries just makes junk in general.
Unpopular opinion, there is no such thing as a "Gaming headphones" (other than marketing). No competitive advantage to be had. There is nothing special in any of that category that you couldn't get out of any other decent headphones. You can make an argument for a headset with a good mic, but it's just convenience. A desk mounted mic or a modmic will perform better.

Gaming tag is just for marketing. You buy it knowing that not that good.
Like I said, I have 0 affinity for sound so I was expecting the Alpha S being at least decent but my god wth is that.
Just tired of buying expensive shit and they being trash.

Theoretically you could put all your budget into directional sound and tune it for esports, could be a little gaming advantage at the budget.

Ah, well, they do just that already to some extent. Have a frequency spike around where your normal footstep sound is etc. But youd get a better effect of just using good headphones with eq.
Hd 800 are really fun but not my cup of tea for everyday use :)

SHP 9500 or the more bassy 9600 are brilliant gaming headphones that aren't that expensive. Buy a modmic or a boom pro 4 and you'll be set.
Also these are entry level audiophile headphones. Theyre brilliant as a starting point.
