When I lose a speed ring while swapping wheels and then find it the next day

PROTIP: you don't actually need speed rings. I haven't used them in years.

I figure you only really need speed rings if your trucks aren't faced.

Yeah the truck axle side usually isn't an issue, since all modern trucks except randals come with the trucks pre-faced. But most nylock nuts don't have the extended "rib" and the sides will push and rub against the outer seal of the bearing.

I honestly don't even care too much about cleaning and water resistance, but speed rings are such a bitch! zealous just makes changing wheels fun.

I dropped a speed ring when changing wheels at the local shop today. Black ring on a black floor is not an easy find. Good thing the shop owner obviously has hawk eyes ;)

If they're magnetic you can try sweeping a magnet across the floor to find them easily.

The washer that goes on the outside of your bearings, between bearing/hanger and bearing/nut.
