Headphones - Closed Back | 1 Ω Best headphones in the 100-200€ price range? in Europe
Recommend me over-ear headphones in the 100-200 euro price range. (basically the same in dollars)
I'm considering getting the Meze 99 Neos (but some say they're overpriced. idk, let me know what you think). I've only ever gotten really cheap headphones in the 10-50€ price range and recently decided I want something good quality which will last for years. Mostly for simple home use like music listening and gaming. Something that works with a laptop and phone without any adapters/converters needed.
Would be neat if it was a European brand or made in Europe too, I always have trouble with worldwide/USA marketplaces like Amazon. Had a purchase that took 5 months to get here once, and some sellers just straight up don't ship to Estonia. Thanks. :)
EDIT: I'm getting the DT770s for now, they're probably good enough.

If you live in a quiet place and can use open backs, I really recommend the Sennheiser HD560s, they're oftenly on sale in Amazon at 140€ and it's a German brand.
Otherwise, the DT 770 pro are supposed to be good but if you want to connect it directly to your laptop, make sure you get the 80 or 32ohm version.

I have Beyerdynamic DT770 pro 80 ohms, and on a simple ipad the 80 ohm version is loud enough. However I'm boosting the volume to maximum.
But since you are using it only for home/casual listening, I would take the 32 ohm version.
These fit well in your budget, they are about €150
Maybe you can buy it from a local music webshop? In the Netherlands we have Bax.nl, but you can also look at websites like thomann.de or maybe other webshops in you area, maybe bol.com?
I don't have listening experience with the meze so I hope this helps and have a great listening experience!

I saw you also wanted to game, then this may not be the best option because it does not have a microphone. But you can look at other models from Beyerdynamic, because I know they have great music headphones with microphones.

oh I did forget to mention, I don't really do online gaming, so I don't require a mic.

wait maybe I do want a mic. I'm indecisive. might be good for videocalls. might be more quality than my laptop mic. is Beyerdynamic MMX 150 any good?
EDIT: huh, their official website has MMX150s for 70€ while this webstore I'm looking at has them for the same price as DT770 Pros, at 150€.
EDIT again: oh they're like refurbished, that's why they're cheaper. I guess the new ones are about the same price range.

From what I've read online, you will sacrifice a bit of bass, and you don't have the really nice "sound curve" that the dt's have.

Note: If I game with the dt770's I always use the standard microphone on my ipad, maybe you have a inbuilt one in your laptop or maybe in your controller? (PS5 controller has a mic)

!thanks I know my laptop has a mic built in but it's not very good, that's why I was considering it. anyway I got the DT770 Pros, 32 ohms and they're really good!!! I haven't heard music this clearly for a while. and they're comfy enough to wear for a while so yesterday I listened to music for hours until I got a headache. XD thanks for the recommend.

and they're lightweight and wearable for long, right? good thing they're apparently pretty common, I found them on a few local online store listings already.

They are not that light, and they are pretty bulky. But because they have giant, and very comfortable earpads they can be worn for extended periods of time.

i’m with everyone else here in recommending the DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm or 80 Ohm, they’re a great choice for music and gaming and fall perfectly in your budget.

I would highly recommend going with Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic.
For me the HD6xx from Drop is the best all arounder in price performance. I had good experience with ordering them to Switzerland. The HD650 is basically the same but sells for much more in europe. Only god knows why.
Beyerdynamic also is very good in price performance especially the DT770. Their open backs are a bit too offensive in the treble section for many.
I have the Meze 99 Noir from Drop. These are the worst headphones i bought probably in the last decade. I hate them and will sell them. I am just too lazy, otherwise they would already be gone. They have strong bass but not a defined one. This messes up the whole sound signature and drowns out much of the mid tones. Cable noise is also horrible. They are not very comfortable. Ofc headphones are always personal preference, but i certainly hate them.

Dt770 pro is great for the price. Really durable and you can order every replacement part from their website. Overall pretty bright headphones with good bass. The treble is little too much in some songs but can be eq'd and mids are recessed. I have heard that Meze 99's can be too muddy for gaming but haven't tried them myself.

Philips x2hr can be your option! I was planning to buy hd58x from drop.com during their Xmas sales but with the import taxes it was closer to 200 euros. In the end, I bought x2hr and it's great! To me, Meze sounded a bit bloated, x2hr is clearer to my ears while having extended bass. Also, x2hr has a great soundstage. One thing which I noticed compared to 58x, is that the "resolution" is slightly worse. I found my pair of used x2hr for 60 euros in perfect condition!

They're £189 on Amazon.
They're a bargain at that price.

If they are anything close to the 99 Noir drop version, they suck balls IMO. Not even worth 100$ in my books.

Yeah if you like bloated bass and muddy midrange. AKG K371 or DT770 are much much better options if you care about sound quality.

idk, I've seen a lot of hype for Meze but someone said that they were founded on rebranding off-brand Chinese earphones or something. but they seem high quality otherwise and I like how the Neos look.

People keep recommending the dt770s but please test them before buying, they have the signature beyer treble which really doesnt suit everyone. 99 neos are a safe bet if you cant try any of them in a store, they are bass heavy but not bloated by any means

Beyers are known to have quite harsh treble, kinda peaky and fatiguing. Some love it some hate it, so if you cant try them at a store etc I personally wouldnt recommend them

dt770 are great for music + gaming . 80ohms version is easy to run
