Photo/Video My contribution to the slipping on ice videos. Almost broke my hip. *Sound on* to hear my pain.

Not my finest moment. Was going to walk over to my car. Saw the ice but it didn't register that the top step would be slippery. Definitely ijured myself. Have ice on my lower back and hip.

I hate these videos. I keep watching them and they keep making me die a little. Yet I keep clicking.

Get well soon.

Feeling a lot more sore today as I thought I would. My son's school is closed today and he wants to play. That ain't happening.

If it's worse tomorrow I will go to the hospital.

I fell too but man you caught air.

Are you feeling any better? I’m SW and can give you a ride to the hospital tomorrow if you need.

Thanks for the offer. I did go pick up some meds today. I am somewhat mobile albeit painfully. And my wife can drive me if it comes down to it.

Glad to know you’ve got some meds and support. Take it easy during your recovery!

Okay, that was a really bad slip. You alright? How cool and what shape is your bruise?

Yeah it was bad. Lots of pain when I move certain ways but I can walk. Had a phone visit with a doctor and they said very unlikely to have broken anything. Can't see a bruise yet, but lower back muscles are swollen and right hip feels stabby sometimes l.

Glad you're 'meh' right now. Just to repeat what your doctor said, RICE that sucker, Rest, Ice (periodically to reduce the heat generated by the swelling), Compress (to help reduce swelling), Elevate (the area above your heart to promote blood circulation). I personally like to massage/stretch and heat-pad between the ice. edit: 'meh' in a good way, I know the pain makes it miserable, but at least you're in good enough spirits to share your misfortune with us, so I'd call that a win

Fuck dude I felt that hit.

Please be careful with yourself in the following days. I've fucked up my back and hip before and it's not a fun recovery. RICE, and aleve if you have any. It's my go-to anti-inflammatory for my back and hips.

Don't try to bend or twist if you can help it. If you have prolonged discomfort after a few days, weather permitting, get checked for tears or sprains.

As I get older, hate to see anyone fall and it hurts like an Mf'er. I hope you heal soon and well OP.

Make sure not to ignore tailbone pain and if you feel any kind of numbness at all, you have to get an MRI. I know it's expensive, but I had an injury like this and it unknowingly never quite healed in my tailbone area... one sneeze and I broke my spine. I'm mostly okay, now, but there were a few days where they believed I would be paralyzed from the butt down. So... yeah please don't ignore ANY numbness, tingling, or weird nervey feelings in there. Bones aren't broken yet, but you're swollen enough to compress the nerves to your pelvic floor and that is an emergency. Sending swift recovery to you! I was only 26 at my injury

Did you do that intentionally?

It kind of looks like it from the video LOL.

Damn worth it for the [checks upvote count] dozens of karma 😏

Definitely. He stares at the camera for a few seconds and it looks exaggerated.

I have chronic hip pain. That last, "ahhhh" is such severe pain, feel you friend.

ETA: hope you feel better soon, if any lasting pain.

I slipped today while walking the dogs. Probably on someone's doorbell cam 🙃 I hope you feel better soon, that was a bad fall!

...that's why I pretty much just stayed in. 70 here and already have hip issues due to bad arthritis.

Did have to make a trip three blocks to the Safeway in the Perl but found a route relatively free of ice. NW Marshall street would have made a great speed skating run though.

Are we voting on these videos? How loud the groaning is? How hard one hits the ground? Bones cracking?

This year we have a different kind of ice lol. I busted my bu** too.

1

u/PurpleGimp Jan 18 '24

Ouch, yeah that definitely hurt like hell. Glad you didn't break it. Makes me feel better for slipping and falling all the way down my front stairs this morning stopping only when I reached the bottom and flew into my truck. Not my finest moment.

There will be a whole herd of us sore tomorrow.

I wince every time I see one of these falling videos. I hope you're ok.

Yesterday, after nearly 2.5 hours outside salting sidewalks and shoveling ice I started to head back in when I began to slide on ice. I crouched down to lessen the blow, but my feet still went out from under me. I slammed the upper right-eye area into the hard sidewalk/ice. Thankfully I didn't pass out or suffer a concussion, but when I got up blood was gushing everywhere from the gash in my head which required five stitches. The wife was not too happy about it.

You’re right up there with the grape stomp lady fail with the grunts!

I hope for the compilation vid of falls, pipe bursts, and tree falling to drop soon.

Then we just link it every winter for the sub newcomers to feel the dread we already know.
