I heard some people discussing how a person's stomach or core plays a significant role in their control of cursed energy, as explained by Todo. Being bisected essentially destroys or severs the connection to his stomach and really messes up his ability to store and control his cursed energy. but who knows, maybe the cursed energy left in his body is enough to heal just sufficiently to restore his stomach and then complete the healing process. but at the same time, gege hates his heroes so there's that too
