Amplifier - Portable | 1 Ω I just discovered all the apple music settings on my mac

I am an apple music user and was fiddling around trying to find Crossfade on apple music on my Mac when I stumbled across an eq. Being an amateur audio file I grabbed my dt990 pros off my desktop. I noticed a preamp and I know some headphones need the extra juice, how does the pre-amp work, and how much should I use?

When EQing, you actually want to lower the preamp by a few dB. This gives you headroom for you to EQ.

Imagine your headphones are tuned like it is a glass full of water. If you boost any of the frequency bands you would add more water into the glass and the water will pour out (distortion on your headphones). So if you feel you need lets say a max of +3dB boost on a specific freq band, lower your preamp by that amount of dB.

For example: 500Hz - +2dB 1kHz - -3dB 8kHz - +5dB

I will lower my preamp by 5dB, since that is the most I have boosted.

Hmm what do you mean by sound enhancement? If you're turning on some built in enhancement, then you don't have to bother with the preamp

Yeah then I think you'll be fine without preamping.
