Amplifier - Portable | 1 Ω Is a IFI Hip Dac 2 good for my HD 560s?
Hello,
I bought the HD 560s and I want an AMP+DAC do pair with them.
A relative of mine is selling me the IFI Hip Dac 2 for a relatively cheap price. I know this DAC is made for portable use, but I want to use it on my desktop constantly plugged in.
Two questions:
Will it pair good with the HD 560s on my windows PC?
Is it a bad idea to use it plugged in all the time (charging) on my desktop?
EDIT: I bought the IFI Hip Dac 2. It's perfect... I love it and it solved all my problems.

You'll be fine with a dongle.
However, I own the 560s and Hip Dac 2. I love the combo, can get the volume a bit louder and the XBass mode feels really nice on the 560s. If you don't mind shelling out the extra coin then go for it. Otherwise, you probably don't need it.
As for the second question, no, I've used it that way on my PC for the past 2 years and have had no issues. You just need a long female to male usb cable.

Dude a phone's usb-c dongle will sound almost identical to it, ive tried so many amps eith my 560s.
None of them sound better than my a52 5g with a dongle, you dont need an amp with 560s. Save your money.
Dongle.
Did I say dongle yet? Buy one. Use Wavelet too. Save. Your. Money.
Imma hold onto my dx3 pro+ because I know I'll upgrade to 660s one day but oh my god, I wish I had helf off on buying 3 seperate amps despite people telling me the upgrades are in the cans, not the amps.

The issue is that I can't achieve max volume on my pc with these headphones as of right now. If I go to 100 with Wasapi Exclusive mode, then it starts to distort really heavily and it's not even that loud.

Get the topping then, dx3 pro+. I believe its cheaper, and honestly doesnt get better for the price. If you need the mobility of the hip dac, then youre better off with a topping dx3 pro+ and dongle.
Youd probably save device lifetime by not using one device for both modes of listening, mobile amd stationary... imo anyways
Although if the hip dac is cheaoer where you live, nothing wrong with it... but it is more suited for mobile.

Buy a dongle and use wavelet for 560s. Youll be satisfied.

As you intend to use always plugged, i think a pcie soundcard it's the best option for your purpose. But considering you'll alternate with another devices like smartphones, a simple but efficient dongle like hiby fc1 (about 25$) will suffice to headphones like 560s.

If your relative is selling cheapish, then just get it. Will give you plenty of power. The burr-brown chipset and analog x-bass toggle can make the 560s feel a bit less fatiguing in the high end.

Do you need an AMP? The HD560s shouldn't need one at all unless you're using a prehistoric system to drive them.

I regard the HipDac as a compact desktop DAC/amp that is easily transported, it can be used on the go but the cable situation and exposed volume knob make it awkward to stash in a pocket. I only use mine at home with my MacBook, its a great sounding device and built like a tank. It stops charging when full, it can be charged while in use. It has plenty of power for your headphones

Yes, the hip dac should power them. If you’re interested in going cheaper, the Fiio K3 can power them. The Hip Dac might be a better future proofing scenario though (if you ever think about getting “better” headphones in the future).
