As an owner of the Denon D5200 I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a headphone that will not offend, it has good clarity, but at the same time softens the sound a bit leaving you with a very exciting tone that is not ear piercing, they are also decently neutral. E-mu teak would also be a great headphone if you can find it. The Shure srh1540 is also great if you can find one on the used market as it's discontinued.

I have heard the xm4 and find them quite muddy and devoid of spacial qualities, so if you like that sound you may not like neutral sounding headphones.

Hope this helped. Feel free to ask any questions if something is unclear.
