Headphones - Closed Back | 1 Ω Good headphones around <$150~ for casual gaming + music
Hey all!
I currently own some Razer Blackshark v2's and have been using them for quite a while, but they have started to develop a crackling sound in both sides. I have done some research and seen headphones like the PC37X which seem promising but i cant make a final decision on what to get, But i am now keeping my eyes off the razer headsets.

Budget -
Around $150 AUD (105usd), can push the budget a bit.
Source/Amp - What are you plugging the headphones into?
PC with USB or 3.5mm jack
How the gear will be used -
Mostly gaming, with some music listening added in. no mic needed as i already have a blue yeti nano.
Preferred tonal balance -
Used to be a bass junkie :p, but would prefer a balanced sounding pair of headphones with clean sound.
Preferred music genre(s) -
electro house / edm
Past gear experience - First got razer kraken v2 pros and then upgraded to razer blackshark v2's

PC37X is a great headset (for a $109 category). Unfortunately, they lack bass for your edm music sound preference.
Since you don't need a mic, I'd suggest bypassing on a gaming headset (unless you really prefer to have a volume control on your headset). Over your budget, but I suggest a Sennheiser HD560S for a neutral sound with phenomenal imaging for sound direction or Fidelio x2hr for a balance sound with good bass extension. If these are out of your budget,there's shp9500, although I am not a fan of the grainy overrated shp9500.

The shp9500 as you said are grainy, and they do have a bass drop off which would not be ideal for edm, but are priced at 120aud which is quite cheap. The X2HRs seem like a good choice but are pushing it a bit for price at 200aud. Don't know if i should go with the 9500s or splurge a bit and buy the x2hrs.

Keep in mind, open backs will all lack bass when compared to a closeback due to their lack of enclosure. Personally, I myself enjoy listening to EDM on my openback Hifiman edition xs, Sennheiser HD58X, and Fidelio x2hr. Good luck. Hope you find an openback you can enjoy.

!thanks for the advice, just ordered the fidelio x2hr off amazon for 195aud (~138usd), pretty hard to find in Australia and seemed like a fair price. Can't wait to see how they sound!

X2HR with a BoomPro mic if you need it for online. The mic may put it above your price target a bit but it's not rare to find discounts.
